Madrid?

I appreciate all the input. I've been to Madrid before, and was sick unfortunately that time. I'd rank the women on a scale of 1-10 from 7-14..lol. And I got the eye from so many of them.

Will be going again with my sister to Madrid & Barcelona around Christmas/NYE. Any good tips for people going around holiday season? I know exponentially more Spanish now than I did my first trip.

Will report back on forum about day/night game as older sis will be hibernating at nights, haha.

I have nothing to add to what Julio26 said, he sums it up quite well. I only have to say that, if you have enough time, try to spend one or two nights in Salamanca. It's the city where Spanish chicks are easier to pull (lots of guys say it, not only me). It's a university place and there are more girls than boys. You have also lots of monuments.

About what Mixx said, while Spanish girls are prude like all Mediterraneans (maybe because these are gossip countries), it's also true that they become quite slutty when they're abroad (like all Mediterranean girls also).

This is particularly true about Italian chicks. Never been to Italy, but they are very closed apparently while in their country. Get them as a tourist in Greece or Spain, and it becomes a lot easier though you might get the bitch shield at first.

Clubs: Junco, 69 Petalos, Shoko

For meeting locals :
Gabana: my favourite although last time I went crowd was younger than usual. But always packed with HBs
Liberata
Fortuny (New owner hired models)
Musée
Try Alberto Alcocer Street, Salamanca District and around Santiago Bernabeu

Clubs with Latinas:
Garamond and New Garamond (new is better), Kudeta
But most of them are in all the salsa bars around Plaza del Sol.

Bars I like: Tomate, Whitby, Eccola, Areia, Castellana DF

Restaurants I like: Lateral (very good spot, try the one in Velazquez or the one in Plaza Santa Ana), Tomate, La cesta.

Finally, if you stay on sunday night, try Serrano 41, you have hip hop session. Usually lot of chicks and very good music (if you like hip hop of course but in Madrid it's the only spot I know putting this)

Here are the main places, of course there are much more but for a short stay I would hit these.

Hope it helps
Enjoy

Really appreciate the input here. My situation is a little trickier since I will be there from Christmas Day morning till about December 28th. Anybody ever been in Madrid around Christmas time?

I'll likely be VERY active around the night of the 27th Thursday. This list appears to be infallible though. Thx!

I always come back home for Christmas but don't worry people will go out the 27th for sure. At the end Madrid is IMO the best city to party in Europe.

Just an update on clubs, try Liberata, Garamond, Vanity or Graff (Thats a new one)

For a first drink: Whittby, Ten con Ten, Boggo.

I also enjoy going to a really small bar where a Japanese make gin Tonic, it's called Shuzo's, well don't go there for the girls but to have a first good cheap drink if you feel like it.

I'm sure you will like it!

Much appreciated advice. I was in Madrid with my sister from the 25th till early morning of the 28th this Dec 2012 as I didn't get to capitalize on too much of the advice given from these other great listings.

I will give more details of my findings in another post but I'm going to recommend two other discos that are open on a Wednesday night being rare as the others are mainly Thurs-Sat.

Kapital - Off of Calle Atoche and street with museums (Prado)

Buddha - Highly recommend as it's strictly locals, very open females, but a taxi cab away middle of nowhere in a park.

Short December 2012 Experience (Long-Winded)

After a 2.5 day visit in 2010 that was filled with sickness, I involuntarily embarked on a one week trip to Madrid & Barcelona most recently with my sister. It's all good though as I indeed like Madrid but really preferred to spend one week away from work at home having a staycation to rest up for an eventful 2013. But it was off to Spain for a short stay anyways for not so much a full fledged bang mission, but moreso a family vacation that might not always be available in the future...

Day 1 Tuesday Christmas Day Dec 25th, 2012
Don't ever fly Iberia. Luckily, my sister and I got in with no problems this day as we would eventually have one more a week later that experienced a comical 2 hour delay. Also keep in mind the Metro in Madrid doesn't open till 8AM in the morning Christmas day if you ever arrive this day.

After a rough time getting in, we eventually made it to our studio rental apartment in the museum district neighborhood off of Calle Atoche and that main museum road. Very strategic location by the way as it is next to a club called Kapital and another discoteca next door, which I can't remember the name of. Calle Atoche also gives great access to the Huertas party district, Plaza Mayor, good eateries, and the well known food market Mercado de San Miguel. It's a quaint neighborhood that is residential instead of touristy if you are looking for that type of thing.

Although Madrid is quite cold during the winter time, I don't ever remember it being super windy on this high altitude setting. The great aspect of high altitude is that people apparently burn more calories walking routinely from pt A to pt B or while jogging. Lots of people in shape here as I saw absolutely no chubby chicks. Seeing how it was Christmas Day though, gaming was pretty much non-existent as all the chicks were with boyfriends or families. I praised the openness of Madrilenas from my 2010 trip on this forum so seeing all these couples I didn't come across from 2010 was killing my credibility a bit..and perhaps chances of shacking up later on...then again the objective of Christmas is indeed with family so here I was with my sister as we had dinner reservations at some overpriced restaurant.

Day 2 next post....

Day 2 Wednesday December 26th, 2012 Part 1/3
Because of jetlag, I had trouble sleeping Tuesday night so I killed some time by progressing in the Dead Bat in Paraguay book. What an excellent read. Needless to say I fell asleep at 8am and woke up at 3pm to have a late brunch. Then it was off to the Prado museum.

Dinner was at Mercado de San Miguel being a slightly overpriced food market where people go from booth to booth getting tapas. Great place FYI to spit some game here as the local yuppies and tourists all come here to mingle, sample foods, and drink sangria.

There were some nearby bars for drinks afterwards but my biggest complaint about Madrid is that it seems all the pubs consist of dudes drinking alone or dudes hanging out with other dudes. Whereas you have more cocktail bars, martini type places, and lounges that cater to packs of female drinkers in the Gracia neighborhood in Barcelona, I just was totally unable to find any of those venues that cater to the attractive yuppie local chicks in Madrid. I honestly hope I'm wrong in that regards to Madrid during my next trip.

For meeting chicks in establishments not requiring cover charges in Madrid, I'd recommend Mercado de San Miguel or the endless amounts of Tapas based Cervecaries. These are essentially Spanish type breweries with tapas dishes as the chicks seem to go there in packs. I could see why chicks would go there instead of some generic Irish pub type bars (too many of them in this city) as they bear ambiance to the female senses. Good approaches would be dumb obvious questions in Spanish about "where is the Prado," "where is so and so street," or "where is Plaza Mayor." Almost something good food recommendations for this restaurant. Women here will then usually engage about where you are from, why you are visiting, and good conversational opportunities could come about if sly enough...which is a good thing bc Barcelona locals will answer your question promptly & then blow you off.

This eventually lead to a post late dinner nap while jetlag kicked in waking me up 12:30AM. At this point, I had two choices. I could A) continue in my Dead Bat in Paraguay Readings or B) go hunting for discotecas that were open. I chose option B bc when in Madrid...which caused me to reopen up this thread looking at discoteca options. Unfortunately, many of my options didn't exist as discotecas only operate Thurs-Sat only as my luck was dying on a Wednesday. I decided to check out Liberata or Shoko as those websites didn't indicate anything about not being open Wed nights.

Upon leaving my rental apartment, I see a group of three girls sitting on the street conversing socially. I ask them about where to find a street as they responded in Spanish. They then asked me a bunch of questions in English about myself so we had a nice chat. After a good 15 mins, it didn't lead anywhere so they sent me off politely to the so called "place I was looking for."

My first big mistake came around 1:30AM when I accidentally crossed the neighborhood club Kapital. It was hot chicks galore standing outside the door taking cigarette break with another small set of dudes. I saw a sign that read "70EU" for cover so I said "eff that." The whole clientele and scary cover reminded me of all those Bridge & Tunnel New Jersey kids who come into West Chelsea for the oober expensive clubs & bottles as I just wasn't willing to splurge on that just yet. The key error was that I didn't reconfirm that by asking the chicks on the street or with the bouncers up front. It was off to Liberata and Shoko where cover would be around 12-20 Euros I believe?

With my luck, both Liberata and Shoko were closed that Wednesday night as I found out the hard way walking to both places. Least I was burning calories & digesting my late dinner from earlier. I think they are normally closed Wednesdays anyways but the fact that it was December 26th one day after Christmas didn't help matters either. 3AM came around the corner as I was not necessarily giving up yet to go back to the apt and continue off with the Roosh book. What I had going for me was jetlag so I had to find someway to drink myself to sleep anyways as all the bars were unfortunately closed.

Upon going back to Kapital again, I started asking girls and guys up front how much cover was. They told me to ask the bouncers as they confirmed 15EU. Why was there a sign that said 70EU up front when the cover was a lot less the whole time? Big mistake on my part couple hours earlier so it was into the club I went.

Day 2 Wednesday December 26th, 2012 Part 2/3

There were still a considerable amount of hotties in Kapital at 3AM but I imagine it was less than the talent that existed earlier around 1:30AM. The first set of girls approached involved me asking where the restroom was in Spanish. They responded nicely and we engaged in small conversation in their native tongue as English wasn't a part of their vernacular. Another female friend then swung by as they were in reality heading back home after a long night. Convo ended.

After a short bathroom break, I proceeded to the bar to order a nice 12Euro cocktail (Apparently a way to buy tickets for half-off drinks up front, but didn't figure it out). A different set of 3 very attractive females then came down to the bar from the VIP section which was on the 2nd floor. After a few minutes of hesitating, I shly asked the older watch dog "sabes que otras discotecas estan abiertas esta noche? (Which other discotecas are open this night)." She responded "Budha" as we started conversing in Spanish about where we were from. When she mentioned Brazil, the green light set me off bc my Portuguese was exponentially stronger so I made the switch. I caught her off guard as this North American Asian dude who was conversing fluently with her in a language she was more comfortable with so the dialogue clicked more. It turned out the other two females she was with were in their early-mid 20s as the watch dog I'm guessing may have been in mid-40's. It now made a little more sense to me as I was mainly talking to this chick's boobs earlier. Those 2 gals were her nieces as one was Brazilian fluent in Spanish/Portuguese/English like her aunt whereas the other was predominantly Spanish and some English.

The common ground chatter lasted around maybe 2-3 minutes but she immediately gave me her cell phone number and email for facebook asking me to hit her up for as long as I would be in Madrid. Three guys came down from the VIP section from upstairs and proceeded to the bar to mark their territory. Time was up as they all headed back upstairs. It almost made me wonder if these chicks were professionals, haha. Nevertheless, I had to accept the fact that they were already a part of the in-crowd mold as I was just a lone gringo tourist visiting momentarily. I eventually made some casual approaches on the dance floor afterwards. Some good convos that didn't go anywhere but I was enjoying myself as the girls were very outgoing & friendly.

As the talent started scattering around or disappearing, the guys who I talked to outside the bar came in. They gave me a breakdown of other clubs in Madrid and how Kapital is apparently more happening on Thursdays instead. When I mentioned Budha Bar per recommendation from the older Brazilian lady friend, they said it was a little bit too far and only accessible via taxi or car as bus, metro, or walking were much more infeasible options. Cool guys. It kinda seemed as if I wasn’t going to be getting any action from a chick but was still jetlagged. Headed back to the bar to help my cause.

Back at the bar, I have a run in with a chick who I spoke to on the dance floor as a young American man with a Mulatto look is chatting her up. I learn the young man, D, is from NYC here in Madrid for study abroad. After we get acquainted, I give D a recommendation to the girl as a wingman move and watch him do his thing. At this point, there are more couples & people dancing at the bar while I’m enjoying my drink. I see the three girls and three guys back from VIP again so I gave a goofy little wave to the Brazilian cougar from earlier. She waves back and proceeds to introduce me to her very attractive nieces in which he have interesting exchanges in portunhol catering to the different language abilities of each niece. VIP guys come back again as the crowd proceeds upstairs for another chat at their reserved seating. It appeared as if D wasn’t going to seal the deal with his gal immediately so he came back to the bar and gave me an extra drink voucher he purchased for a discounted rate up front. Nice dude. We briefly discuss the status of the VIP crew and how I was going to be able to penetrate that social circle of theirs if the night would go on.

As the night winded down, I decided to get one last drink from the bar with D’s voucher as 4:30 AM was coming around the corner with the disco closing down at 5AM. I see the Brazilian cougar with her guy friend thinking..”ok, have no shot..but at least I’m getting buzzed and will be able to get a 6 hour sleep before doing more touristy stuff with my sister tomorrow as she is likely going to have multiple rounds of sex with her older male companion an hour later.” At that moment, the lady invites me over to speak to her trendier but much older VIP male company as we get acquainted. It turned out they were heading to this highly touted Budha place after all while extending an invite to me. Why not? Nothing like getting an inside look at more Madrid venues with locals that know their stuff.

It turned out I would be sharing a hired 3 row van cab with the Brazilian cougar and her two nieces to Budha while I wasn’t sure if the VIP guys from earlier would be coming out in separate cars. The two nieces shared the middle row of the van as the cougar hopped into the back row with me. Kissing and groping shortly ensued as I came to the realization that those old dudes were probably not meeting us later on….

Day 2 Wednesday December 26th, 2012 Part 3/3

We all shared a 10 Euro cab ride to his place called Budha really in the middle of nowhere. It’s situated in a park with no buildings in sight and transvestite hookers not too far off on the other end soliciting for pay 4 play. Was a little bit creeped out. Based on my research, the cover for this place is usually 20 Euros or sometimes less but I cruised in with three chicks minus paying.

General observations upon getting in to Budha:
1)Pay the extra money to put your jacket in coat check. This is one of the rare discotecs in Madrid that permits smoking indoors. You’re going to smell a chimney and like one afterwards.
2)Local hotties galore!!! These are chicks you are not going to see bar hopping in main city centers. Very outgoing & friendly too.
3)Cool local guys too. The venue is situated from all touristy areas for a reason, but the people here are all very curious and open about visitors like myself.
4)Paying 20 Euros for a round trip to and from with 20 dollar cover is quite expensive. But your clubbing options are very limited as a tourist on a Wed night when every other place is closed minus Kapital.
5)Two big spacious rooms here. One big dance floor to the left hand side upon entering and then the right hand side is likely going to be more crowded with comfortable couch seating & people dancing anyways.

A good tip about Budha is to generally carry a lighter and cigarettes around as girls will run around asking random dudes for a light. Happened to me as they tried starting a conversation with me later on, but was at the time justifiably cockblocked by the girl who brought me in. I actually started getting suspicious with the cougar because she was ordering drinks and indicating “ninguem pagou” which means nobody paid using past tense. I however tried pushing the issue inquiring “porque eu tou pagando para tudo?” (why am I paying for everything) but she then reassured that everything was “gratis” being free. News of free cover and free drinks calmed me down so we decided to move into a secluded area of the dance room to hook up even moreso. It was quite nice that she had some pretty good C cup implants where I got to suck on them in our own little corner. What an amazing ass for a mid 40’s woman too.

As the only gringo traveler in the venue especially as an Asian guy, a lot of different people were extremely cordial and asked if I liked Gangham Style, haha. I’m not sure if I would’ve gotten the flirty looks and approaches from other girls had I come to Budha alone instead of with 3 chicks but I can honestly say this is a great place where foreign travelers can control their own destiny with decent Spanish conversation & common sense game. While the two nieces got their own cab back home, I shared one with the cougar for a good 10 minutes continuing the intimacy. But..could….not seal the deal however as she got dropped off at a point where her nieces were waiting for her...damn. She told me to call her wanting to hang out following day.

I stumbled back into my apt at 7AM and heard surprising noise from my sister asking if I was hungry. Apparently, her jetlag prevented her from sleeping all night so we had early morning breakfast or in my case drunk binge where she proceeded to insult me for not being able to seal the deal. We connected on facebook & exchanged messages with her wanting to hang out one more night. I just wanted to spend that last day in Madrid doing family stuff though my sister insisted I invite her out. I already had two Brazilian flags with a 3 month relocation to that country coming in May 2013 & rather desired that coveted first Spanish flag instead.

Day 3 Madrid December 27th, 2012 Thursday Night

Anti-climatic day report

-Went to another museum with my sister. Modern museum not too far off from Prado. Prado is free after 6pm, the modern is free after 7pm.
-Scam #1 - Some guy tried asking me for a lighter to see where i kept shit inside my pockets. I told him to eff off for but he wanted to do this arm around my shoulder soccer dance. Luckily, I hid my things in my inside coat pockets that were buttoned up so he couldn't pickpocket me.
-Scam #2 - At a bar in Huertas, I saw some guy gaming a chick. She was beautiful with ugly friends. He gamed her so well that he eventually got to make out with her while her friends took a break. I also decided to get another drink at the bar. Once I got back, she realized her purse was stolen along with her fellow kisser (makeout distraction while a colleague stole her shit). Felt quite bad for her.
-Some nice cheap eats options in Huertas. But I'd skip the bars here as they're full of dudes, and one good looking chick in groups of predominantly ugly chicks.
-Madrilenas for the most part are very beautiful and thin. The one place you will she questionable fat girls would be Huertas however.
-Passed out early on a happening Thurs night to catch a train to Barcelona next morning...meh

More on impressions of Madrid next post.

Excellent data sheet again. It's too bad I wasn't able to really utilize all of it, but here is some more insight I can provide in regards to my experience in Madrid 2012.

Things I Missed Out On
1) La Latina - Tried going to Shoko but they were closed on Wed nights.
2) Salamanca - Supposed to go here but never quite made it due to older sister's decision making.
3) Bar scene in Salamanca - I'm about to criticize the bar scene in Madrid in the next few sections, but I need to mention that I never quite made it to this neighborhood where perhaps the bars could have been better.

Why Bars are the Worst Place to Game Women in Madrid
1) Most of the bars are filled with mainly dudes chillaxing or hanging out with other dudes. Any gal you see is likely going to be with a guy.
2) Lots of generic type "Irish-esque bars" here don't appeal to the local female clientele. Why should they? Though I hate Barcelona with a passion, you'll at least find some posh low key martini or cocktail hangouts in the Gracia district that attract flocks of females in that city. This sort of thing does not exist in Madrid, though it might be in Salamanca which I missed out on.
3) A lot of bars here serve food. But why pay for bar food in Madrid when you can find more chicks out in more intimate tapas based breweries (cervecerias).
4) I can't seem to explain why chicks here don't go to bars.

Best Places to Game Women in Madrid
1) Street game - This includes patio bars where women like to sit outside to eat/drink even in the winter. Ton of them also like to sit on the steps of apartment buildings talking amongst each other. Come up with an excuse to ask them a question about a street, bar, party, or discoteca as they will go extra mile to inquire more about you as a gringo & all.
2) Tapas based cervecerias - Essentially brewery type places with tapas. These places are typically very cost efficient, provide a trendy feel, and can be posh. It attracts the female packs that don't go to the city's typical dude infested bars.
3) Discos - The bad news is that all the discos here charge 10-20 Euro covers as drinks on the inside are just as harsh. The good news is that Madrid seems to be a city with a much more lively club scene than bar one meaning all the local hot chicks will be there...with a fairly outgoing attitude. A gringo who goes to a disco predominantly filled with locals is still going to get love in one of those venues.

Choose Wisely for Discos
1) With discos charging 10-20 Euros and pricey drinks, you gotta pick your venues carefully as the clubbing habit here is an expensive one.
2) On Wednesday night, pick Kapital or Budha Bar. All the other clubs are closed this night as these places are sure to not disappoint Wednesdays.
3) Locals I met make fun of "Joy" because that is where all the gringos there. If you want that special authentic Spanish or Madrilena flag, see #4 & 5.
4) As I mentioned Kapital is a great place despite being in the more mainstream museum neighborhood. Go on a Wed as the ratios will be better.
5) The club scene in Madrid is very scattered meaning the best discos are clandestinely spread throughout the city. These inconvenient locations make it harder for the average gringo to visit each club at which would making things worse for the locals & people like me.
6) Too bad I never got to experience Salamanca or the disco Liberata.
7) Budha despite being far away has some of the most attractive & outgoing Madrilenas. I recommend you guys go there given money is right.

Anymore questions lemme know.

Good report yb, I think you were not lucky.

You should have tried some bars in Salamanca like TenconTen, Whitby or even try Lateral C/ Velazquez, Lateral Metro Ruben Dario or Lateral Plaza Santa Ana. Well these bars are packed with hotties.

Buddha bar (Kudeta) is a good disco but every time I went there it's started to be packed with pros finishing their work around 4-5am.

You should have tried Malasaña to see an alternative bar scene. Also the fact it was 26th of December didn't help.

Joy is indeed a tourist trap but when I arrived in Madrid I did really well there (with non spanish chicks).
I don't like Kapital because the scene is too young for me. Same with Pacha although I did well younger there but Im too old now [Image: smile.gif]

Almost all the discos charge 10eur-20eur fee, but it includes a drink. The drink is usually around 12eur inside. I prefer buying bottles with my friends though since it's cheap compared to others European capitals (around 120eur).

Malasaña is not the area I frequent the most but each time I went basically what I did is basically walk around Plaza 2 de Mayo, calle Palma, Calle Divino Pastor and just enter wherever I see girls I like.

Some bar I do remember: La via Lactea or Cafe la Palma
I also remember a bar with some sand inside but can't remember the name.

Where you live you it's easy for you to day game in C/ Fuencarral

Ahh, Madrid, what a wonderfull week there. That is the place were i learn to apply the little game i had naturally. Also, i had a very good time in joy Eslava. Also, just a note, i was staying in Chueca, and while is the "gay" neighborhood, there are loads of hetero girls during the night (not the Gran Via pros).

That's fucking hilarious bro. You should try to go back and stay for a longer period of time.

HA. Glad you got a kick. Yeah spending Christmas Day in Madrid and then skipping Salamanca bars didn't help my cause either. But if I go back to Spain, which I plan to...my Spanish conjugations have been perfected now not to mention I'll create a itinerary of Valencia for a 4 day weekend, Sevilla/Granada on weekdays, and then a true extended weekend in Madrid where I'll have no excuses haha.

La Via Lactea and Cafe de la Palma are both good spots. Cafe de la Palma has good DJs spinning weird mixes, some house, reggae, and other interesting combinations. La Via Lactea is 80s rock. El Bar (right by Tribunal station on Calle De la Palma) is good for music in Spanish, and is cheaper. Taboo (on Calle San Vicente Ferrer) is a pretty cool club, that gets started around 2am, and they spin mostly electronic. There's a cover, I think 10 euro.

Malasaña is strange because people just seem to drink in the streets (even more than in other parts of Madrid, where it is very common). People just sit on stoops and drink, or sit in the middle of squares. Everyone seems to have a plastic cup and a bottle. And there are stands to buy a beer for a euro everywhere.

Malasaña was the center of La Movida, which was this opening up of Spain in the 80s after the fall of the Franco dictatorship. So, in the US there was the sexual revolution of the 60s, the drug revolution in 70s, and Metal and hard rock in the 80s, this all happened at once in Spain. You can still see the influence of la Movida everywhere. And Malasaña was where it all began. In that way, it's a pretty cool, and interesting place.

That said, the girls aren't that great. They are very alternative, with Skrillex haircuts, tattoos, and weird piercings. And they wear terrible clothes. But they can be nicer than the snootier (but much more attractive in my opinion), girls in Salamanca.

I've been in Madrid for a while, so I'd be happy to answer any questions on the city.

If you had to compare Madrid to Barcelona and Paris, which would you say has the better quality and quantity of women?

I would have to go with Barcelona. Spaniards girls are the same as French girls in style, looks and sophistication. But Spaniard girls are easier to game. Parisian girls are cool too. But the guys that I know who traveled to Paris say that French girls are harder to game than Barcelona girls. Based on my travel experience there, I would have to agree. Madrid girls however are a bit harder to game and appear stiff.

Funny thing, I was in Catalonia and I thought the people there were speaking a form of English that I have never heard of before. I realized it was Catalan though. Catalan does sound like English in many respects. It must be the proximity of Spain to England.

If you are traveling to Spain and want to get a quick lay, I suggest that you travel to Barcelona first. Afterwards, travel to Madrid. You cant go wrong in Barcelona.

Seriously? If you ever get the chance to travel to Spain, make sure you visit Madrid. Spaniard girls are basically similar to French girls. These countries are basically neighbor countries. The cultures are so identical. Travel time to France from Madrid is about 10 - 12 hours by train. I suggest you take stop routes to visit other places before heading to France.

Seriously? Wow! If you travel to Spain one day, make sure you visit Catalonia. Try to hear the Catalans converse in a group. Many words sound English. Keep in mind that Catalonia is close to the French border and also to Engand relatively speaking sompared to other southern European nations. English and Spanish share many identical words.

If you travel to Spain one day, make sure to visit Ibiza. Its an amazing experience with very nice girls from all over.

^^Planz - I spent about 5 nights between two different stops in Madrid. Though I didn't pull (sickness, Christmas Day, bad logistics, etc), I will say Madrilenas are much more outgoing than Catalonians. Especially if you speak Spanish. I hooked up with a Brazilian chick in Madrid yet couldn't seal the deal bc she was worried about her kid or some shit. Still..if you go to the right places like certain clubs (Buddha/Kapital), cervecerias, street game, or bars in Salamanca...you're going to get much better reception than gals in Barcelona...esp if speaking Spanish, which Catalonians speak reluctantly out of spite due to their "unique culture" bullshit.

I felt I could've however pulled one of the many dumb gringo tourist chicks in Barcelona as the city was good for that, but I was unfortunately with family doing shit around their paid agenda. I hate to play the "race card," but I got the impression East Asians were viewed like 3rd class citizens in Barcelona whereas it was much easier to just converse with Madrilenas, get eye fucked, and make guy friends too in the capital of Spain.

One thing I noticed among immigrants in both cities is that ones who move to Madrid are treated with much more openness that they work even harder to learn Spanish while enjoying the process of getting integrated into society there. I've heard this from Brazilians, Russians, Chinese, Polish, and other Latin Americans who have experienced living in Madrid for sometime or continue to do so. The people who however move to Barcelona to open businesses or live as ex-pats are begrudged for wanting to improve their Spanish because locals feel entitled to not even speak the national language due to their pride.

I'd like to switch the thread back to the topic at hand, which is Madrid yet I can't help but to mention Barcelona is a place that seemed to attract:
A) The most ignorant obnoxious North American people I've ever encountered.
B) The most pretentious artsy fartsy elitist pricks I've met in Europe.

With that being said, I found tourists, ex-pats, immigrants, and locals in Madrid to be of a higher calibre than the ones I encountered in Barcelona.

Yeah, I have been to Catalonia.

And I think Catalan sounds nothing like English.

I really have never heard anyone say that before.

Yes, I do agree with you about Madridian girls are a bit more outgoing than Catalans. But I got to admit that the Madridian girls I've come across are not gameable. From my experience in Catalonia, Catalan girls exhibit some sort of superiority complex. I think all of Spain does. But Catalans and Basques take the cake!

I have never heard anyone say that France and Spain dont share many cultural similarities. Even the languages are similar in many respects. Both nations border eash other and have exchanged cultures and histories for centuries. It would make sense to think so given the close proximity. If you ever go to the Pyrenees, France is literally just steps away. Been there a few times.

About the words, its probably because your stay in Catalonia was short. The similarities are definitely there. For example, the words 'popular' and 'decision' are spelled exactly as in English. The accents are a bit different but you can still easiily discern them. You just need to be exposed to their conversations to pick up the words, thats all.
