What would be the best course of action to get the most out of Thailand in 1 week.

ie

See some cool tourist sites (temple ect)

Check out an amazing beach

Partying / Women

One week isn't really enough to see a lot of stuff, you'd be better off just going to one destination and staying there. Like Bangkok for 7 nights chasing women, partying, see the temples and palaces etc. You could maybe fit in 2-3 days in Pattaya too if beach is a must. The beach is far from amazing though, it's a dump. Nice beaches are either a flight away or an over night bus.

Yea getting atleast one day in on a nice beach is a must. I dont mind taking a overnight bus at all.

You're not going to travel 12-14hrs for one day at a beach then 12-14hrs back to Bangkok surely? It's pointless.

I would do it if I had too.

I am not going to Thailand and not spending atleast one day on a postcard beach. Need that foto and experience.

Certainly wouldnt be pointless to me as it would be knocking off one of my Thailand agendas which are

1) Bang Thai chicks & Party hard

2) See a cool tourist site(s)

3) Visit a nice beach

Main thing is optimizing my time to see & do everything in a short time frame beings as I wont be back in Thailand for quite some time.

Just pipeline and do night game as much as you can....to get as much local poon as you can. If you get the photo that is cool, but Id take a night banging an 8 over any photo.

All useful comments from the contributors, Iain is spot on - Pattaya is technically a beach but 'a nice beach', hardly.
The cost, effort and inconvenience and loss of valuable time makes it impossible to endorse this approach.

It does seem arguable that 7 consecutive nights in BKK is probably too much for many, I also would welcome suggestions on how to break this up using time effectively.

One item i would add to start the list off is visit a tailor, there's some good value to be had in the city, but go with a recommendation.

If you're there 7 nights...2 in BKk preferably the weekend. Fly to Phuket early and decide if you want to push for ko phi phi the same night or spend a night in Patong. Get over to ko phi phi party there one night then spend a night camping on maya bay, which is ko phi phi lei, where the filmed "the beach". Words cannot describe how beautiful this place is. In addition it's very easy to get laid here as you have one of the most beautiful places in the world to yourself and about 15 other people who want to party with you.

Fly up to chiang Mai and spend a few nights there. Perhaps a jungle excursion for a couple of nights. Head back to BKK. Sped your last night there and fly out.

It's. a lot of traveling but this will highlight the big cities, the partying on the beach, and the cultural aspects of Thailand.

Spend a a few days in BKK to recover from the jet lag/time difference and do some shopping, even get a a suit or 2 done, then fly to Phuket, a short and easy 1 hour flight. Forget about taking the bus while the cost to fly is so cheap and not much more expensive than an overnight bus.

He's going to do all this in 7 days whilst trying to combat the long flight, jet lag, time difference and humid heat? Not likely and not recommended. Going somewhere for one day means you do nothing but get some generic photo you can find on Google images. It achieves nothing. Even flying around Thailand is going to wipe out the best part of the day each time, you need to factor in getting to the airport, being there 2hrs before, checking in, flight time, arriving, finding your hotel. There's definitely not time for visiting central, north and southern Thailand AND doing jungle treks and camping trips. When is he going to bang a local? He won't be in any place long enough to meet one.

Internal flights are cheap, check Bangkok Air, Thai Airways and Air Asia to see what you can find. Personally I'd reconsider this need to see the picture perfect beach, many of them suffer from over development and pollution anyway so it might not be as picturesque as you think. The really idyllic ones are on the more remote or less touristy islands.

Varies depending on the time of the year and how long in advance the ticket is booked. Check airasia and Thai Airways website. Shouldn't run you more than 50 bucks on Air Asia or 80 bucks on Thai Airways.

This is what I would do. If you are planning to go out at night in Bangkok, go to Route66 at RCA, or Funky Villa on Thonglor Soi 10. If you are looking to party late night after that, hit up Scratch Dog. Outside is the best area to approach women at Route66. Inside the club is way too fucking loud.

This is what I am thinking. To and from Phuket will be by plane.

Day 1 ~ Bangkok
Day 2 ~ Phuket
Day 3 ~ Phuket
Day 4 ~ Phuket / Bangkok (night)
Day 5 ~ Pattaya
Day 6 ~ Bangkok
Day 7 ~ Bangkok

So far my to do list will include

Day 1 ~ Party first night in Bangkok
Day 2 ~ Party on Bangla Road
Day 3 ~ Visit Ko Phi Phi / Maya Bay / Phang Nga Bay
Day 4 ~ Visit Wat Chalong Temple & Big Buddha / Return to Bangkok that night for more partying
Day 5 ~ Head out to Pattaya for a day or night depending on how things go
Day 6 ~ Visit The Grand Palace / Wat Prakeaw & Wat Arun
Day 7 ~ Visit Ayutthaya

Should cover everything.... minus Chiang Mai.

Phuket has become increasingly popular but I am not sure why. <comparatively speaking > Restaurants are expensive, taxis take you 'for a ride', Patong is a long schlep from the airport, Bangla Road is nothing less and nothing more than you might anticipate.

Excursions to beach spots like Ko phi phi

I am sure there are worse places you could target, but possibly better.
I can recommend a friend who I have stayed with, he hires a decent well positioned appartment and you can grab a motorbike. but perhaps I shouldn't insert the link here in case it doesn't respect the forum rules.

there are some decent excursions by boat to the usual islands but there is little tranquility there with flotillas of tourist hordes. My guess is you may not be seeking tranquility.

Ooooooh Kay ...
Sounds doable, so long as you are not expecting to bang any non-pros, and you plan on sleeping for a week when you return home!

One of my weaknesses is trying to cover too much ground in too little time, but your schedule makes me look like a tortoise.

Good luck, and I'm keen to hear how it works out.

Why wouldnt I be able to bang some non pros in Bangkok?

Although I wont be discriminating. Non pro, semi pro, pro. Ill gladly bang any hot chick so long as money is not directly for the sex.

And hell, I'll prob pay if 4-5am rolls around and I am looking at the prospect of going back to the hotel empty handed with my dick in my hand.

If SEA is easier than LA, than the above scenario will not be occurring.

IJust in terms of Bangkok I'd recommend staying in sukhumvit for easy access to nightlife. I always stay at Le Fenix, your door card will give you free entry to both q bar and bed supper club on soi 11.
As noted by others check out rca one night and if you do feel the need to go freelance Insomnia had thehottest girls the last time I was there a year or so ago.
Not sure if it's still open but Spicy was a good after hours and also used to transfer to a smaller club across the street above a restaurant about 8am.
In Phuket Hollywood's is the only club worth going to. Make sure to bring your own condoms, thai ones are not good.

Bangkok is cheap, Fenix is around $60 per night. It's 3 star i think bit a really nice boutique hotel. I've also heard good things about citichic, also around that area. Nb, both of those are 'guest friendly' some places will try and sting you a fee, sometimes s half the price of your room, to bring a girl back.

Thailand Experts (Maximizing 1 week)

I'm sorry, I was a bit sarcastic there.

IainMuirs is giving you good advice.

Let me try to be constructive ...

From landing in bkk, allow minimum 3hrs to get to, and set up in your accom.
When flying to Phuket, leave for the airport 3 hrs before departure.
After landing at Phuket allow minimum 2hrs to get to, and set up in your accom at Patong.

One night in Bangla Road is about right for the novelty, unless you particularly like whore houses.
And watch out for Ladyboys. They're usually the best looking girls ;(

From Patong to Kho Phi Phi involves traveling across the island then catching the boat.
Allow minimum 3hrs
Kho Phi Phi is a fairly small island with walking paths and no motorised vehicles. It is quite developed, with lots of tourist accom, bars, merchants, etc.
Once on Kho Phi Phi, various small/medium sized boats can take you over to "The Beach" island.
This island is really small, with no infrastructure. From memory, we had to swim ashore from the boat.
I'm fairly sure it would not be practical to get from Patong to "The Beach" island back to Patong in the same day, unless you charter a chopper.
So allow one night minimum on Kho Phi Phi. You can do the Party hard there. The (transient) population is about 80% foreigners, so good chance for a SNL with a non pro! But not a Thai. Most Thais there are Muslim.

Allow the same minimum times to get back to Patong and/or the airport, and from bkk airport to your accom.

From central Bangkok to Pattaya by coach, allow 3 to 5 hrs I think (Last did that one 20 yrs ago)

Realise that getting flight, coach and boat times that are optimal for your schedule is very unlikely, so you will lose another half day here and there.
Also, if you are arranging any of the accom or transport as you go, this can be a major time drain.

Better allow a few hours for eating, sleeping, washing, etc over the 7 days also, eh?
If you add all this up and then subtract it from the total time you have, it only leaves so many hours.

Probably at least 98% of Thai women are NOT pros.
The hot ones typically have good self esteem and are certainly not desperate to hook up with a foreigner.
They are certainly gameable but you will usually need to invest some time with her, unless you are a superstar at game.
I just can't see you having the hours available to do it.
However, if you are determined, I would suggest pipelining so you can hit the deck running.
You will need planning and execution like a military exercise if you want to hit all your targets.

Good luck, and let us know how it works out.

BTW, if you can consistently pull SNLs with hotties in LA, then I think many of us here will be looking forward to some illuminating posts from you.

What's the obsession people have with trying to see everything even when they have such a short period of time? Slow down and take it easier, stick to one place or two at most (preferably somewhere close to Bangkok, i.e. Pattaya, Kanchanaburi, Hua Hin). Believe it or not you'll get more out of the trip if you stay put than if you're travelling around all the time.

Arriving in Bangkok jetlagged and on a different time zone is not pleasant. You'll be disorientated, suffering from the heat and humidity, probably exhausted and your body clock all over the place. The first night you'll be lucky if you've got the energy to do anything let alone party then fly to Phuket the next day. I wouldn't recommend anyone visit Phuket anyway, over priced tourist trap full of scams.

Ayutthaya is a few hours from BKK, it takes a good day to see all the temples, then you'll have to go back to BKK. That will be an exhausting day. Better to go there when you can stay the night. This won't be possible if you have to fly home this day.

Quote:Quote:

Doesn't even begin to scratch the surface actually. Stick to Bangkok and Pattaya if the beach is a must. Personally I'd forget about the beach and do BKK and Kanchanaburi, beautiful place, lots of history (WW2), nearbye waterfalls, elephant treks, rafting, tiger temples and so on. Some nightlife too, few gap year and backpacker tour companies stay for a few days here so if you get your timing right you can smash some drunken Scandanavian chicks. I know a bar owner there and she's always got them in the bar, playing drinking games, stripping off etc.

Quote:Quote:

Why wouldnt I be able to bang some non pros in Bangkok?

Most people who go to Bangkok only fuck pros. There are basically 3 types of girls in Thailand. The pros / semi pros / bar girls / massage girls who sleep with men for money or view you as a walking ATM, the middle class to HiSo girls who for the most part wouldn't be seen dead with a filthy farang because it would lower THEIR status and then the girls in the middle who might consider dating / sleeping with a farang but only if you don't act like a total sex tourist and none of their friends find out.

It's not a difficult place to fuck your brains out with non pros but you need time, you need to pipeline the internet, you need to appear to be staying in the city for a good length of time, you need to know where to go. One night stands from clubs is not that common in Thailand, unless the girl plans to ask you for money in the morning. Chances are if you're planning on staying in Sukhumvit to be 'close to the nightlife' you're not going to be visiting any clubs where any decent Thai girls go. Most Sukhumvit clubs are touristy places filled with sex tourists and working girls. Even if you do venture further afield and go to a Thai club there's a high chance none of them will show you any interest anyway.

Quote:Quote:

Define basic and cheap? What's your budget? or some people basic and cheap is a $5 room (some of them are OK if you just wanted a place to crash) for others basic and cheap might be $50-$100. I usually opt for somewhere around the $20-$25 a night mark and I'm happy with that, others might think it wasn't nice enough.

Quote:Quote:

Fairly sure it's still open and Swing across the road probably is too. Be warned OP it's a total whore house of a club. Really is a last resort place when you just want to continue drinking and partying all night or don't care that you're probably going to end up going home with a pro.

And I agree with what someone else said, take your own condoms. Thai ones are too small and break easily, even the Durex.

Your putting an awful lot of stress on yourself to do all those things. Chances are you will love thailand and will return for more.

If I were going for only a week id just stay in phuket, have a good time and fuck as much girls as possible.

I guess it depends though on what you put value on. I passed on machu picchu in peru (you waste like 2 nights doing this) because i prefered the idea of banging chicks (I banged 4 chicks in 5 nights) to looking at some ruins on a hill, as beutiful as the view may have been, i'm just at this point in my life, that it didnt interest me in the slightest. No amount of gasps of disbelief from fellow travellers made me regret that decision. I had a blast.
