several guys on the forum mentioned "jersey shore" recently, which i'd never heard of

are there any other reality TV shows popular in the US that are fun/entertaining or "game" related, that people outside north america might not be familiar with?

i remember a couple of years ago there was a show called "beauty and the geek" which really epitomised how lame guys can be

The 1st season of "Jersey Shore" was decent, I don't know what's going on this season. I guess they want to attract more female viewers because the guy who gets the most screen time is the one who is the most beta and passive aggressive. The only good thing about MTV is that it shows you how NOT to act.

There is no such thing as "reality" tv, since they edit all the footage they put on the air.

I watched the first two seasons of Survivor years back but then I stopped watching T.V. altogether (except for sports of course).

Mike "the Situation" hits on/makes out with a tranny at a club in Miami on the latest episode, it's pretty freaking hilarious, but really in this day in age, shit like that can happen pretty easily if you're wasted drunk and aren't really thinking clearly.

Man, Jersey shore is hillarious. I read a post where roosh evaluated their games. I hadn't even seen it when I read it, I'd like to see that post again. My friend kept telling me about it and I dont' really watch much TV, especially reality TV, but I decided I'd give Jersey Shore a chance. Hillarious! They are such clowns. The Situation would fuck anything that walks and then brags about how many girls he picks up. Almost all the girls he bangs are ugly. I def. see him making out with cutties, but he can hardly ever pull them back to the pad. Vinny is a little shy, but I think his game is better than Mikes. I thought it was hillarious when Mike met that brazilian girl in the first season and told her how he was gonna take her to lunch AND dinner. You could tell he was really into her. He was being super beta, coming on way too strong. The next day he calls her for the lunch date and she doesn't answer his call. So far this chick was the only good looking chick I really saw him bring home, minus one other. It's apparent he has a lot of insecurity issues. He's constantly clowning on everyone, and then they come back with something good, then he throws a low blows that is just out of line every time. The dudes a complete tool and the only thing he has game in is picking up ugly chicks. It's hillarious too because he spends all day at the gym, tanning, and doing laundry (GTL). If I put that much time into my looks, I would hope I would be pulling far finner ass than that, because I don't put close to that much time on my looks and I still pull finer ass. Maybe not as consistantly as he pulls ugly ass, but I preffer it my way. Pauly- D is chill and seems like he has pretty decent game. He refuses to wing man for The Situation, as he knows he'll be having to take home "Hand grenades" if he does. Pauly D is probably my favorite member of the show. Ronnie... Fucking moron! Him and Sam both! If you've seen the show, there's no reason to elaborate. And I'm pretty sure that Jersey Shore is as legit as it gets when it comes to reality TV. They don't even have to edit anything. These people are such clowns, it just makes for great TV watching them as they normally act.

yeah i've watched the first couple of episodes of jersey shore now and am lovin' it

the situation is hilarious how he pretends to be tough but then as soon as Sam makes out with Ronnie, he loses it and starts acting like a little bitch

i liked how the situation told that sloppy angelina girl to lose some weight - those chicks are so freaking loud n annoying

on a game level it's funny to see what kind of guys those girls are into

reminds me of the dog brothers:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmN4-V8xPFI

dumb as those guys may be, i'm sure they get more action than 95% of guys in "the community"

the guy at the end of the clip says it: "you gotta act like a moron."

Those dudes on Jersey shore are total pussies...a shame to Italian communities all through the Eastern Sea board. MTV is the worst at making huge sweeping stereotypes. It is the same if you made a show called "East LA" and every Mexican dude on there had a bandana and macho moustache and said "Holmes" and "eh vato" after every sentence. It does exist, but as more of a rarity.

It's funny when foreign people think that the accent from Philly to NYC is a Soprano's thing or that its an Italian daygo thing. Nah...that accent is just East Coast. Of course guys like the situation ham it up for the camera and do all the dumb ass gestures with their bodies, but the basic accent attitude (toned down) is an East Coast thing.

Boston has its own similar Lingo but a little more harsh on the vowels.

Man, shows like that make me glad I don't have cable. I watch The Soup on iIunes to keep up with popular culture, so I don't have to actually watch all this shit, and every week they have a clip of Jersey Shore. If I was Italian-American I'd feel so embarrassed. And that "snookie" girl...Hope the women that watch her are learning what NOT to do.

i've seen 4 episodes of the first season of the jersey shore now and i'm def hooked

apart from the girls' drama with their boyfriends back home which is dull and lame, i think it's very watchable and the situation actually has some pretty decent moves

last nite i watched a bit where pauly d and the situation brought two girls home with them but then along the way ran into two other girls who were hotter. they actually ended up with the first pair again after it turned out the second pair was lame and didn't want to go into the jacuzzi.

the situation's girl was dtf but pauly d's was kinda grose and was being annoying; they kept referring to her as the grenade and the situation said she was a time bomb and that pauly didn't know how to decypher her - really cracked me up

The problem with all that shit is that none of it is reality at all. There is a hord of camera's, microphones and make up artists following these douche bags around so allot of girls just want to be seen on camera talking to these assholes.

Zanetti, I will give you a break since you're a foreigner but if you go many places NJ/NYC you will find these types of guys all over. Most are not as bad as the guys on the the Jersey Shore (the guys on MTV are like a characature with the accent played up the hair too moused etc) but many do have the blow out chops, the wife beaters etc. They are biggest douchebags you will meet who will roll on you only when there are like 3-4 of them and you're alone. "what what...Long Island bitch..."

Now Frankie Edgar, that is a real Jersey guy.

Oh man, on the last episode Vinny bombed it big time with this chick he was all into. I can't remember exactly how it worded it when he called the girl, but it was something like, "I don't know if you met my friend Pauli, but he and I are going out to dinner. He was gonna bring a date so I need to get a sympathy date." Really? The chick initially agreed. But then Vinny's suprised to find out she doesn't want to go after after he bought a new outfit, flowers, and a hair cut. Give me a break! Pauli D did pretty well though, probably one of the sharpest things I've heard him say to a chick when he called his. He said, "Vinny's taking that girl on a date that he's in love with, so I figured I'd bring the person I'm in love with. Then at the last minute I decided I'd bring you too." Pauli D got his date, Vinny sat alone at home for the night, moaping about how his dream girl (Who happened to be a dancer at a nightclub) never showed. He even called her back after she flat out said she didn't want to go. She agreed to go again, even after his super weak phone game, and then proceeded to not show up. Step up the game homie.

DJ Pauly D is the most likable guy on the show, Vinny has a future lawyer vibe about him that I identify with, Situation just raw dogs it, and the way Ronnie acts with Sammi reminds me of the fucked up relationship I was in over a year ago. All in all, a great show! [Image: biggrin.gif]

Is it just me or is Vinny pulling the most tail (although a lot of it is roommate tail)? Personality wise, he's pretty chill and not super outgoing. He just takes it as it comes, basically. The Situation makes shit happen, he's the guy you want on your team. He's the deal maker, future entrepreneur type. I think Pauly D has recognized this, which is why he always hangs around him. The Situation is the type of guy not-as-outgoing guys should hang around.

Pauli D is def. the dopest on the show. I could definitely see hanging out and pulling tail with him. He reminds me of a lot of my Vegas friends. Though I don't think Vinny gets the most girls, it's def. Mike, though they are mostly ugly. And I don't know if I would agree with the situation being a good guy to have on your team. Have you seen the girls he takes home and the "situations" he's gotten Pauli D in? Pauli D refuses to be his wingman because he is constantly bringing home ugly girls. I would say 1 of 4 or 5 of Mikes girls is cute. Though this season it seems like everyone is geting a lot more ass and better quality. I don't know if that is because Miami has easier and more quality women, or becase they are now more famous.

I just watched the newest episode of Jersey Shore. I couldn't believe how little effort "The Situation" tried putting into women and how bad he blows it, twice! On two different occassions, him and Pauli D Bring girls home. The Situation basically tries to get laid by telling the girls he wants to bang. One of the girls "had only had sex with one guy" (Yeah right!) and the other had a fiance. In both situations he just gives up and tells the girls to leave, which in turn blows it for Pauli D, who would have gotten laid both times, since the friends Pauli was with didn't want to leave their friend behind. His first mistake was him basically telling the girls he wants to bang them, bad idea. His second mistake is right after they tell him they have a b/f or are hard to get with, he just tells them to leave. What he should have done was maybe take them to the hot tub and gave them a couple more drinks or at least try and seduce them somehow, but he just gives up. I thought he was terrible. I'm sure if his game was a little tighter he could have at least gotten one of them, if not both. It was pretty pathetic.

I guess the show is addictive like looking at circus freaks - I don't think most of you live where there are a lot of greased up dego douchebags - it ruins a lot of stuff. Long Island is as bad as parts of New Jersey and it's impossible to have any club/lounge scene here without it getting overrun by blowouts unless you put in a 50$ cover charge and a velvet rope. Put any upper class bar/lounge that's can't 'velvet rope' the door in any town on Long Island and its overrun with d-bags in sneakers and striped shirts and it causes everyone else to leave. Although sometimes its entertaining to go into a wine bar and watch Toni Wop nurse a Bud all night by himself -its a downer. The only 5 star hotel outside of Manhattan in New York is the Garden City Hotel on Long Island - it had an expensive nightclub and private smaller clubs within for years. Dancers, card playing, they even let you huff a Cuban in the backroom - it got its permits pulled because a couple of degos thrown out at the door unloaded a pistol into the air in the parking lot. Long Island arguably was the birthplace of the blowout - we had 'Lee Hotti' of Myspace fame starting it - What you see in that show is another terminal cultural cancer in the body politic of the United States.

I didn't like that the way "The Situation" handled that "situatiation" costing his buddy a notch and not following Wingman etiquette but he did have a legitimate reason to be pissed off. There's nothing I hate more than bringing a chick to the crib after the club and she starts turning into Mother Teresa and starts giving me the "Too Soon" and "I am not that type of girl" speech. I don't understand why girls would go to someone's house after the club and they have no intention of fucking.

Jersey Shore is raw social behavior. No morals, no standards, one need only a modicum of perspicacity to see the evo-biology at work.

The case of Angelina hookup was amazing, I still cant believe it wasnt staged. On one side you have the beta provider that suit-up just to see her at work and buys her gifts. On the other you have Vinnie (who has no game) that basically got mad for the first time of the show and called her out/insulted her. At the end of the day guess who Angelina banged. Confrontation -> attraction.

On other episode you have Vinnie being a pure beta over the phone, the more he got rejected the more he chased. In the end he finally got a date, but the chick was from EE so she probably just succumbed to his status as a tv star. In real life she wouldn't even give him her number (his opener was "you are so beautiful").

The recent episodes also showed Mike's game only comes from status, and the camera shooting him at all time. He cannot work on a girl for shit.

Dude, he didn't even try... Girls can say that all day, and usually they are gonna be the first to fuck. They wanna put out that image like they aren't sluts, but in all reality, maybe they are, maybe they aren't, but either way, you can fuck them. He brought them to the house, basically said, "I wanna fuck you." and the girl said she wasn't that type of girl. I would probably say the same. She doesn't wanna feel like a whore, but at the same time if he would have worked a little magic instead of just take her directly to bed and basically said, "Let's fuck in front of my friend," I'm sure he would have done much better. Plus, those guys should be using the smash room. I'm sure their chances of getting laid go down at least 20% when they bring 2 girls home and try and bang them in the same room. Some girls just aren't down with that. To tell you the truth, I'm not really down with banging a chick as the same room my homies in. Not saying I wouldn't do it or haven't done it, but I would avoid it as much as possible. And for the record, that girls wasn't a "grenade" as mike claims after she wouldn't fuck him. Anyone who watches the show knows that Mikes had grenades, and she wasn't one of them. In all honesty, I think she was one of the finer girls he's taken home, thanks to Pauli D. That cat's the only one with some decent game on the show. Maybe he doesn't pull as often, but when he pulls he usually pulls quality. I dig his little cuban chick he's seeing right now.

i'm watching season 2 of the jersey shore now and totally lovin it

it seems to me the quality of girls they're hooking up with has gone way up compared to when they were in jersey - even nice guy vinny is getting some quality ass

i'd say pauly d is the best guy to hang out with/wing with cos of his chilled out vibe - nothing really gets to him

i don't really dig any of the girls but wouldn't mind playing with jwow's boobies for a while

I don't really like television all that much, but having been away from the New York metro area where I grew up for a few years now, Jersey Shore actually started making me nostalgic. I hated those people in high school, but they kind of feel like "my assholes," if you know what I mean. All the bitching and slang and party banter takes me right back to going to a party when somebody's parents were out of town.

The hottest chick on that show, by far, is the Romanian (?) girl that Vinnie hooked up with in Miami.

I also think one of the reasons Jersey Shore is so successful is because the characters actually interact with the world around them, instead of other shows where the characters or contestants are walled off from the rest of the world.
