Some of the Talent Montreal Has To Offer

First post here... I want to jump in on the discussion, but first please allow me to use this thread to introduce myself. I hope it's not inappropriate to do so, and I'll start a new one if the admins would rather. I'll proceed to provide as much value as I can à propos to this thread, since I am a Montreal native and in my late 20s and I'm busting my ass to establish myself as a reputable local dating/lifestyle coach here... (If you only care for what I have to say about the night scene, proceed to the ***)

For the past while I've been searching for a forum that represents the kind of community I want to belong to, contribute to, and recieve advice or other value. I've had Roosh's blog on my blogroll for I'd say about a year, and although I don't agree 100% with what he says (as I'm assuming its the same for most of the people here, given my hopefully valid assumption that you folks aren't blind followers/sheeps to Roosh) but the stance on the dynamics between men/women, decline of masculinity, rise of unfavorable feminist side-effects, etc... is dead-on and I agree with overall vision, complaints, and of course the pick-up idealogy (I actively use concepts from Day Bang... elderly opener anyone?).

Anyway, I've read through some of the threads over the past few weeks here, as well as on a few other bachelor/male oriented forums, and I like the vibe, maturity, intellegence here best, so I'll give this place a shot.

To digress, I'm 26, and I recently (last month) finished a Masters degree in Civil/Environmental engineering. Buuut... I'm putting that career on hold, because for the past I think 3 years I've been dreaming of being a dating and lifestyle coach... I won't get into it much here, unless asked, but the last 2 summers I coached a handful of men for free. I run only daygame sessions. I differ (or at least I'd like to differ) from your average PUA guru, as I don't plan on doing concentrated weekend bootcamps. I'd rather work on guys slowly over months. I also, and I really really hope this to be possible, I want to avoid attracting 'community', 'PUA', etc guys. That's why you haven't heard from me in pick-up forums or seen any ads. I want introverted type guys who wouldn't actively seek help... anyway if you're curious check out my site simondigital.net. (not trying to be a shameless plug as I'm local only). I welcome constructive critisms of course.

***

Sooo... onto MTL inside info. Firstly my credentials are that I've been in Montreal all my life, but I don't claim to be a night-game connaisseure. Drinking age here is 18, so I've been clubbing since I was 16, 17... so I feel too old for many places, especially clubs where I hardly feel like going. Plus I'm an introvert, and I shine in daygame.
In my responses, sorry in advance if I'm a dick to anyone, this is all in good humour. Nothing personal of course.

So...

-> Regarding what caused all that stirring, those first pics:

That was a lot of unwarranted heat/circle-jerking comming from you guys, in my opinion. Sure they weren't the best pictures, but that's just it, they were candid/quick pictures of randoms in unflarring positions, taken at people's sweatiest of times, with shitty flash, some with a fucking fish-eye type lens... noboby is photogenic when compared to professional photos. 90% of those femmes could be dolled up better and staged (and photoshopped) to look great and meet your standards. Think about 3am when they turn on the lights and tell you to go home... everybody drops 2 points, including you.

And fuck guys.... some were at least OK... I mean use your imagination and try to picture what they would look like live, in 3D, with an unforced smile . Yes these are typical Montreal girls.

so with that, TRUST ME WHEN I SAY: MONTREAL IS BLESSED. FUCKING BLESSED.

K fine, if those pics were taken at la Musique, LaBoom, Koi, Ivy... basically any place that charges cover and has no windows... You'll get that type of girl. You want to see real Montreal women, were you'll fall in love literally every two seconds? Walk St-Catherine's during a SUNNY, NICE day. I know because I did that just yesterday, and a hundred times this summer. Insane. I swear I don't know where they go during the winter and rainy days. I've always assumed they come out of the sewers or something. Anyway, it's just amazing: the multicutured variety, the style, the fitness... it's awesome at least to me and to guys who appreciate real life women.

Regarding where to not go:

Listening to someone that says 'I spend 10 days there so go to A,B,C' is fucking unreliable. Unreliable like Lonely Planet unreliable. Not meant to be a jab at anyone trying to be helpful, as I'm sure that applies to every big city anywhere, especially in MTL where trends move around consistantly. Plus the best places are always victims of their own success, so people are reluctant to share these secrets. I know that's both a generalization and kindof rediculous, but that's my observation. Just a few months ago, I wen't to one place (Santos if you care)... I swear, the ratio was 3 goddesses to 1 wallflower ethnic guy. I would have ran game like it was a paying job, but I was with female friends that I hadn't seen in a while and it was innappropiate. Anyway, after yapping about it to my usual wing and building it up like crazy, we go THE VERY NEXT WEEK... It was like that Seinfeld episode were George brings Jerry to that secret club, but only after he looses his connection... I mean, the place might have well been a meat packing plant like in the show.

To digress, I'll start with the places that in my opinion should be coverted to 'do not go!' from 'yes gos'.
-Tokyo (not a bad Plan B place if your orginal plan falls through)
-Balroom (wtf?...no offence)
- radio (unless you're coming in 2003, then yes)
- Most clubs on St-Laurent between Sherbrooke and Duluth (highest density of clubs) have mostly younger crowds, charge cover, sausage fest, too packed, too dead...
- Arena: never been, but that location (the only joint in the Atwater area) has had a succession of failed clubs.

Regarding where to go:

-Right now the old Montreal is hot for an older crowd. Most are 21+, some even 25+: Philemon, Santos, Confessional.
-Places with a terrasse: Koko, Suko,
- Places on St-Laurent in Mile end: Baldwins, Chez Serge,
-Places on Mont-Royal: Edgar, Candi (I went to Candi last Saturday... this place is DESIGN FOR WOMEN. Every drink is made of sugar and the music will make any man want to smash his face in... but there was some talent.)
... sorry if that list is short... I honestly don't go out too often , especially for game anymore. Honestly, your best bet is to day game hard, and find out what the word on the street is. I've done that before, and I live here... easiest opener.

- Good pubs where you go for food, live music, amazing drinks, not necessarily to run game: Vice Versa (Crazy long list of obscur Quebec beers and ciders if you appreciate that sort of thing), Irish Embassy, Brutopia, Hurleys, Benelux, Burgendy Lion (Oh Burgendy, how I love you so... see you this Euro cup), Reservoir (my default second date place... amazing beer they brew in place), Comedy works on Bishop is the best comedy place.
- Shahrazad is the only place I know with excellent shisha (no alcohol) and the food is good too. I've actually met some honey coloured honeys in my day as well.

Regarding where I'm unsure of: never went to, it's been a while, mixed experiences (swing and misses):

Honestly, most places for the reasons I mentioned (I'm old + introverted + not the hippest cat in town)...
-High end places like Wunder Bar, Whiskey Cafe, Time (It's been years for, but tight music), Suite 701.. not really my scene.
- Korova... hipster central
-Supperclubs like Buonanote, Macaroni
- Baldwin is swing and miss... but when it's on, it's a great singles place. So is B-sides and Gogo Lounge.
- I used to love Hotel de la Montagne cause it's on a roof top with an awesome view. Some game potential
- 737 hasn't been good in ages, but fuck, it's on the roof of the tallest building in mtl, so I strongly suggest you go for the experience alone, maybe for pre-drinks. A lot of tourists go for that reason, so you might find more english speakers.
- I've actually had a good times at la Musique, but that was when I was with a big group partying and the music was incredibly tight.
-Upstairs is our jazz joint, never bee, but I assume it's classy.
- Saint-Sulpice... biggest fucking bar in MTL...packed with cutish French sudents (but mostly sitting in groups) if that's your flavor
- I heard Lab is good, never been.
- LaMouche... it's been years, but I think it's pretty young.

Regarding Le Francais.

Everyone in Montreal speaks at least a bit of English. Everyone. I don't particularly feel like getting into semantics, but bottom line, I'm an anglophone that does speak a bit of French, but I wouldn't use that shit as a valid excuse to justify a shitty night...as much as you shouldn't complain about being in Latvia with similar language barriers, you shouldn't complain here. Game/communication is 90% body language remember??

Regarding daygame:

This was initially going to be my best section, since this is my professional jurisdiction, if I might say it that way... but I wrote a lot... If you are interested, I could start a day-game sheet for mtl...

Sims - Welcome to the board and a plus +1 from me dude. I will be reading this post again when I hit up Mtl this summer.

I loved the comment about hitting a place one week and the following week you cannot believe it is the same venue, that has happened to many times in the past too me. I swear sometimes it is like catching lightning in a bottle.

I too fall in "love" every two minutes when I am there, is that restaurant Cafeteria still open on St Laurent?

Out of all those girls, I would maybe approach 4 or 5 of them in a club. I wouldn't rate one of them over a 7 1/2 other than maybe the girl far right on pic #7. For some reason pics 8 & 9 aren't showing up for me.

Dead serious. I'm not very big on white girls. I like girls with an exotic looks. It's all preference. There are some girls I'll think are 9's and some of my friends think are 6's and vice versa. Almost every time they point out a white girl and say she's smoking I disagree (Most of my friends are black or latino here in MIA). It all depends on taste, and barely any of those girls are my taste.

sims -

Thanks for actually naming some places.

Getting someone to name a bar around here is like seeing a lunar eclipse.

Tell me a little more about:

"Places with a terrasse: Koko, Suko, "

"Chez Serge"

"Edgar"

And where is the top sushi joint in Montreal?

Price no object.

I would wager G would do fine in muzique. I can try to load a photo up if i get some time off work, but was higher end/young if that makes any sense. If you feel fine at say the standard hotel/beer garden in NYC you will be fine.

Ha.

Was this a very artistic diss on me?

L'Étranger says it "is the douchiest place in town".

Then you say "I would wager G would do fine in muzique".

If that is the place in the pictures, I have no interest in going.

I am looking for high end spots with people with CASH and girls with Beauty.

Or at least places where I can get a Vodka soda in a glass.

Nah more of a I don't believe in "douchey" places. That's why I compared it to the standard hotel in NYC. To me "d-bag" places just means kinda bitchy girls who are hot. EG marina district SF, Meatpacking NYC.

If they are hot they are hot i could care less if it is "d-baggy" trying to give reference to places I know so you understand the vibe.

Definitely don't consider it classy like say moonshadows in malibu. Anyway hope the places I referenced help you gauge if u would like it.

Doubt there are many guys with cash though so might not be your scene, definitely not "high end" just meatpacking/marina/downtown LA. Hopefully that helps you triangulate

What's good with the boat scene in MTL? In other spots like Vancouver, SF, NYC they hit them heavy and you can track down solid parties on them. Toronto not so much sadly. Is it a big thing in MTL?

Years back I went to a pretty hip restaurant on St Laurent, I think it is Buono Notte.

Can anyone confirm? It was a great spot.

Never heard much hype about boat parties, and I can't imagine them being too popular mainly because of the scenery. There is not much to see architecturally on the St. Laurent, other than maybe the casino/old expo buildings and the farine 5 roses sign.

Its not like NYC or SF where you have the iconic buildings and skyline, or Vancouver on the ocean.

Really disappointed with the shitty Toronto boat scene though

A friend of mine work as a bartender at Musik, Gas Bar, a strip club and all the bar who are similar . I always find him the kind of whore and other rebuilted tatood women . A lot of them are stripper or work as a bartender in different club . They always do inter-club events . So I would not been to much concern about that . The douchy area/people are more from the suburbs especially from Laval,Saint-Eustache...Especially from the North Shore . The things is , with Montréal it's really tough to know who are from their .
In the west part and more on St-Catherine now, we are infected by anglophone tourist . Before it was all french . You have to go on St-Denis now to have a french vibe . And like Sims said , the fever of the month always change .

I started a thread about the shortage of fat chicks in Montreal some time back.

http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-10554....t=montreal

The main thing that I got from the thread was that Montreal is not a paradise of easy swoops on gorgeous women. It's more of a level playing field. You have to work, but your work will be rewarded with quality women but probably not 8s and 9s.

to respond to some questions:

>>>is that restaurant Cafeteria still open on St Laurent?<<<

I think it still is, might have a different name.

>>>Tell me a little more about:

"Places with a terrasse: Koko, Suko, "

"Chez Serge"

"Edgar"

And where is the top sushi joint in Montreal?<<<

I went by yesterday and I think Suko might be closed. Koko is still bumping. More on the preppy side of things. Terrasse just means there's an area out back or front... off the top of my head, koko, macaroni, b-sides, tokyo, terrasse bonsecoure. Great for game because it's low key and the music is less loud.

Chez Serge is good, but on the sloppier side of things. There's a mechanical bull, and the drinks are served in jars, but there's usually a decent ratio and the bartenders do a Cayote Ugly routine on the bar.

Edgar is a small joint on the Mont-Royal strip. Nothing special, not bad to pass by for a drink.

Not too knowing about sushi, but my roomate tells me Mikasa on Stanley is very good.

>>>A good approach is to start at st-laurent and sherbrooke street and pick a place as you head north. It gets more hipstery the further you go.<<<

That's a safe strategy especially if you're coming here for the first time. Last night I went to B-sides, which is a bit above Des Pins, and the ratio was crazy good. Met a girl actually and I've been texting her today. The hipstery comment is actually kind of true (generally), although la Musique and Commission des Liqueurs are counter-examples to that rule.

>>>Regarding boats<<<

Although Montreal is an Island on the St-Laurence, I rarely hear of popular events on boats.

>>>Buononotte<<<

This place is an expensive supperclub (focused more on the supper part). I love walking by there cause the waitresses are beyond belief there.

>>>About the issue with French. This works well for me<<<<

The French Rule:

Open with this sentence, to women and people in general: "Escuse moi, Esce que tu parle Anglais?" or if older person "Escusez-moi, parlez-vous Anglais" (Excuse me, do you speak English?). You have to understand there is a certain amount of animosity towards English speakers in Montreal. French speakers are always resisting English taking over the city (which is understandable given Quebec is surrounded all around by English). Nobody is blatantly discriminatory, but the sentiment is there and I'd rather you avoid any issues. What Francophones don't like generally are English speakers who come to Montreal and just assume that the area is English and speak to them in English carelessly. It's mildly insulting (especially to the older generation). So it shows you are respectful and considerate of where you are (as a visitor) by speaker first in French.

>>> Day game<<<

I'll try to keep this brief:

Universities:

My personal preference is McGill. The main reason is the sheer number of outside seating locations and everyone is English by default. thing is, during the summer, it is much more quiet but not dead. McGill has a large campus with no car traffic. Get off at McGill metro. Take the University exit and walk uphill on University past Sherbrook to the gates on Milton and enter campus. Once there, you'll see a large spot for people to sit. There's always a few sets on a nice day. From there, walk west... there's different directions to go, but honestly, it's better to just walk around everywhere. There's loads of benches, a big hill, and a large staircase looking thing that houses many sets. Don't miss the platform leading to the library, and McTavish street.

Concordia is Montreal's other English University. It doesn't have an enclosed campus. You can walk around the main buildings for some high english speaking student traffic. Concordia has admittedly a more diverse, older and better looking student body. You can go into the Hall building on Maisonneuve and Guy or the EV building on St-Catherines and guy for some seated sets. Like McGill, just walk around, get familiar with the area and you'll find where the better parts are.

There is also Université de Montreal, which is not downtown and on the blue line. It does have a big campus and worth it if you have time. UQAM is downtown in the Quartier Latin, and have typical French-Canadian hippie students (they are the most active with all the protests).

If you are younger (17 to 20) Quebec has a College system between High School and University. Google CEGEP. I'd advise checking out Dawson at Atwater metro.

Parcs:

Parc du Mont-Royal is the closest to downtown (located along Parc, with it's main monument at the level of Rachel). GO THERE ON SUNDAYS for Tam-tams. Tons and tons of young people chilling in groups. Cops turn a blind eye to respectful/discreet public drinking and pot smoking.

Areas to walk:

- Place-des-Arts area is great, especially in July. Tons of seated sets. Remember to open with the French rule.

-St-Catherines... anywhere from Guy (concordia area), through Peel, Mcgill College (McGill area), Bleury (Place-des-arts), St-Denis (UQAM), and beyond (Gay Village).

- Mont-Royal: Start on St-Laurent, walk East. Take a break at Mont-Royal metro; there's a square there with many seats and tons of good looking women.

-St-Laurent and St-Denis are good to walk. Tons of shops and cafés.

-Old Port might be okay too, mostly tourists.

Malls:

-Montreal has a long chain of malls. I'd just start at Peel metro and walk East to the Eaton center, Place-Montreal-Trust and Aile de la Mode.

Bookstores:

Indigo on St-Cath and McGill College; Chapters on St-Cath and Stanley I think.

Coffee Shops:

Montreal has a lot of these. The main chains are Second Cup, Cafe Depot, Java U, Starbucks, Van Houttes.

....That's about what I got off the top of my head. My top recommendations are Place-des-arts, McGill, St-Catherines street, Mont-Royal street, and Tam-Tams on Sundays. I realise I didn't go into great details, but if anyone has specific questions, shoot them up and I'll try answering.

Sweet info! My question is, is now a good time to visit? As I am in TO and need to get the fuck out of here as soon as possible. Its left me with a bad taste in my mouth in regards to Canada. So, I want to go somewhere where the girls are cuter and... not just nicer but... human haha.

Any weekend would be a good time to go except for when there are big events like the F1, where you had too many chumps hyping up average.chicks way more than they deserved.

I will be going up July 6th weekend for my boyz batchelor party. We`re all coming up from T.O for our "freaknick" (noticed you were from ,or at Atlanta)

Not sure about the places mentioned above other than Koko on Fri night, which I went to last Halloween. Had a crazy time there! Make sure to go early and you will have an easier time scoring if you roll with a female friend who speaks french and also likes chicks. PM for details.

I would avoid Muzique on Saterdays, as there are too many younger kids, Sundays are good but you will get alot of the stripper/massage workers, who can Ball more than half the dudes there - so bottle service there is just the norm.

Moomba Supperclub on Salsa nights is cool, especially if you can dance a little salsa and like Lebanese and exotic chicks. I hear Sat nights are also good but the club is in Laval, which is about 25 minutes away driving.

Not really sure about hanging out at the unversities right now with all the student protest going on.

I was going to MTL this weekend but decided not to with the MuchMusic awards going on this weekend. If your still in Toronto, than you might want to be at Chevelles tonight or the after party at Tryst (You might get lucky with some out of town younger chick here for the awards). I can understand about Toronto leaving a bad taste in your mouth, especially when you compare it to other large cities. However, Montreal isn't as easy as it use to be - especially for Americans and non-french speakers.

Muchmusic demographic is like 8-16. I went to a afterparty a few years back the one that had Will.I.Am as DJ and it was shit.

NXNE after party would be a lot better.

I agree with you 100% that people put way too much emphasis on having to know a language before can pick up a girl. This is absolutely not true, because, I've picked up several girls that didn't speak English and I didn't know their language.

I looked at your video on your website. Is that tall guy you? If so you shouldn't have any problems with girls.

My friend wants me to go with him to comedy weekend over the 4th of July in Montreal (or maybe it is Quebec). How is it there that weekend?

Like I said in my follow up point, language shouldn't be a barrier, but you should be mindful of it. If you come to MTL, use the opening line and you're set.

That's not me in the video. It's a buddy of mine.

The comedy fest is called Just for laughs (hahaha.com/en/) and it starts July 4th. Serious showsl Louie CK usually headlines one. Tourist come from all over, but the city is bumping regardless in July. Don't bother going to Quebec
