Israel Folau: Rugby Australia 'intends' to sack full-back after social media post

Rugby Australia and the New South Wales Rugby Union say they intend to terminate Israel Folau's contract after a social media post by the full-back in which he said "hell awaits" gay people.

Folau, 30, has 73 caps and was expected to play at this year's World Cup.

"He does not speak for the game with his recent social media posts," the governing bodies said.

"In the absence of compelling mitigating factors, it is our intention to terminate his contract."

Rugby Australia and the NSW Rugby Union, which is responsible for Super Rugby side NSW Waratahs, said they have made "repeated attempts" to contact Folau and he has failed to get in touch with either organisation.

"Israel has failed to understand that the expectation of him as a Rugby Australia and NSW Waratahs employee is that he cannot share material on social media that condemns, vilifies or discriminates against people on the basis of their sexuality," the governing bodies said in a statement.

"As a code we have made it clear to Israel formally and repeatedly that any social media posts or commentary that is in any way disrespectful to people because of their sexuality will result in disciplinary action."

Australia's sponsor Qantas, whose chief executive Alan Joyce is openly gay, said Folau's post was "really disappointing".

"These comments clearly don't reflect the spirit of inclusion and diversity that we support," the airline said.

Folau, who signed a four-year deal with the Waratahs in March and had a deal with Rugby Australia until 2022, escaped punishment for similar comments last year, with Rugby Australia saying it accepted - but did not support - his "position".

New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern, for whose country's netball team Falou's wife Maria Falou is a star, said the posts were "damaging" from a player who is a "role model for many".

"I totally disagree with what he's said and the way he's using his platform," she added.

On Wednesday, he posted on Instagram that "drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists and idolaters" should "repent" because "only Jesus saves", and made similar remarks on Twitter.

He sent a tweet criticising the Tasmanian parliament, which has become the first Australian state to make it legally optional to list gender on birth certificates.

The same thing was going on here in private Irish schools to kids playing rugby (Terenure, Co.Dublin being one) which was large supplier of players to our international team. Gemma O'Doherty is the journalist here, who the media begrudingly admitted was right for uncovering it some of it.

There is something very very wrong there. It jumps off the page.

Rugby Australia and New South Wales Rugby Union held a private meeting with the full-back in Sydney on Friday, having previously been unable to contact him and said afterwards their position on the 30-year-old's future was unchanged.

Social media users criticised Vunipola after noticing he had liked the post, and the Australia-born 26-year-old responded in an Instagram statement on Friday.

"So this morning I got three phone calls from people telling me to 'unlike' the Izzy Folau post," he wrote.

"This is my position on it. I don't HATE anyone, neither do I think I'm perfect.

"There just comes a point when you insult what I grew up believing in that you just say enough is enough - what he's saying isn't that he doesn't like or love those people.

Dolatowski appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court yesterday and was warned she faced being sent into custody if she tried to cover her tracks on social media.

ERASING INTERNET HISTORY

The court was told how a social worker was concerned that Dolatowski had been erasing her internet chat history and there was “heightened risk” of her being involved in criminal activity.

Dolatowski, who is also on an electronic tag, also admitted twice breaching her CPO by failing to attend for appointments.

Defence solicitor Alan Davie said: “She is somebody who requires to be monitored very closely and it has not gone terribly well. There is some level of compliance.”

Sheriff James Williamson said: “One of the worrying features in the report suggests that you have been accessing the internet and then trying to hide who you have been in contact with.

“One of the conditions now attached to the order will be that you do not delete the history off any devices.

“If you are now found to be hiding internet messages or social media outlets, that will be a breach and you will go to prison, or in your case a young offenders institute.”

The sheriff deferred sentence for consideration of the two CPO breaches and ordered Dolatowski to reappear on April 9 for a review.

Now onto what I want to say. IF Satan is the "Adversary" and Satan is responsible for causing Eve to fall. Because Adam didn't listen to "God" and yet succumbed to Eve just like a nice guy? Wouldn't that mean that Adam WAS already a "nice guy" to supplicate to Eve aka eating the apple? God is the one who commanded to not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil and basically that would mean Adam was already ignorant of woman. So I could understand that muscular Christianity was needed to redeem souls of men, obeying "God", because feminism came out from this so called "sin"(women). So because of feminism, and feminized Christianity, so now we need more masculine men to exist to be an go against these things. So Satan "tempted" Eve, right? If man is in the image of God, wouldn't that mean that God and man go hand in hand and by obeying "God" you are obeying what your nature as a man is and what a man is suppose to be. That means Man IS suppose to be masculine and woman feminine.

I have a problem , if man need to be male again, wouldn't that require him to become an adversary to woman (feminism) in other words, like Satan himself to go against today where men are becoming feminine and women become masculine?
