Klay would leave an almost guaranteed championship team for a maybe championship team? Doesn't add up.
The NBA Thread
Who cares about KD to be honest, they won prior to him and the teams till wins in games he misses. Look at how GSW performs when Curry is out versus KD. I'd also argue Draymond is much more know to the system that GSW runs much more than KD as well. KD is an elite singular talent. I'm still not sold he actually makes teams that much better. If KD leaves they are still a top 1-3 team in the West/league.
^^^ They beat a Cavs team with both Kyrie and Love injured, that barely counts, that shit should have an asterisk. Name one team who ever won the finals with their 2nd and 3rd best players injured. . .. I bet even the Bulls would have struggled in the finals with both Pippen and Rodman out.
Warriors need KD because their soft as shit and have no grit, especially if Cousins walks at the end of the year like many think he will.

I think there is a reason KD is the 2 time finals MVP. When the playoffs and finals come, he is the unicorn that can't be stopped. He is also a force on defense.
If Love and Kyrie were not hurt the first year, I think the Cavs would have beat GS in the finals.
Yes, in a series a singular talent like KD pays devidnds. He is an elite player that can take over games but he does not make others any better. I think people take for granted how well Draymond, Curry, and Klay complement each other and people also forget how much Curry and Draymond game makes that GSW team flow and run efficiently. KD is just good. Yes, put him on any team and they will be s top 5 team and in the mix as a contender but he has never made a collective great. He is great, but that does not translate into helping the team.
Contrasting him to his peers is night and day. Curry and Lebrons make all around them better while KD can just get his stats. It depends what you are trying to do but again GSW had no issues winning when he wasn't there.
KD reminds me of Kyrie in that they both hsve high level singular talent but there is zero evidence they actually make anyone on the team better. They can nail you out and win games but they don't boost the water for the boat so to speak.

“Zero evidence that Durant makes his team better”
Go watch the nba finals the past two years. Then go and watch the nba finals from 3 years ago.
He plays both ends of the court, gets loads of assists and doesn’t just score points

GS was mentally demoralized after losing to the Cavs in the finals. If they would have kept Barnes and returned with the same team, the Cavs would probably be working on a 4 peat if Kyrie and Love stayed healthy.

The nba is fast becoming like la liga in Spain. Where 2-3 teams have the stars and the rest are just playing instead of competing.
No more salary cap penalties. Have a hard cap and not a penny more can be spent. Personally I like to see a healthy league where all teams can compete using coaching, strategy and not a fat wallet to buy players. I love seeing a team like the bucks compete against the big market teams.
The NFL minus the distractions has small market teams competing with the big market teams. The green bays, pittsburghs and the like can compete with the Chicagos and the new yorks. Not just for 1 - 2 years but for several. I would love to see the NBAget to this point.
Hate to break it to you but the NBA has always been like that and always will because when it's just 5 vs 5 the absolute best players have significantly more influence than any other sport.
From 1980 to 1998 there were just 7 teams that won the finals. There have been 8 in the 20 years since that. Quite simply if you didn't have one of the top 3 or 4 players then it took something special to even make the finals in the last 40 years. The teams that can tick that box are basically the Pistons and the Knicks in the lockout season that even made the finals, in 40 years. Few guys like young Durant, Ewing, Dirk, Garnett, Payton and Howard are at least debatable on this status but they were still top 6 or 7 types and most had excellent supporting casts as well.

I think the splash brothers and KD would be a priority. Kerr has already acknowledged that Boogie is a one year rental and GS is limited in what they can offer through contractual regulations.
Steph's already on a max and it seems like Klay would be asking for max too. Just giving KD a max alone will make them have to pay the luxury tax for a huge amount since Draymond is on the books for $20 mill next year. The Warriors are the best organization in the business so I won't be surprised if they make it work or convince Klay to take a paycut, but there's definitely a lot to juggle.
Gonna say it, plenty of people will pay Klay max but he is not worth it. Any team with him on a max salary will need other people to take a pay cut, or the team to pay a ridiculous luxury tax to compete.

Especially if Draymond is suspended by a bad call from the refs. That series really does need an asterisk.
There are grumblings in Boston right now about Hayward. People saying he's playing scared and not aggressive enough, especially considering his huge contract. To be fair, after a nasty injury like that I wouldn't even come back to the NBA. I don't think he will ever be the same.
As a Mavs fan, I woke up happy today.
Interesting watching the Sixers transition Simmons into more of a forward, until/if he can develop a shot this is necessary. Now they need to trade for a real point guard who can shoot and they'll be solid East contenders.

Well yes and no. I totally agree that the spurs intentionally tanked a season to get Tim Duncan.
The rest about Pop calling out dirty plays from other teams and defending his own guys, what is he supposed to do, not stick up for his own guys?
I mean the video isn’t technically wrong but when you get questioned by the press what do you do? Not answer the questions? I guess sidestep them better?

Hayward? He is the least of the issues going on with my Celtics. The whole drama around Kyrie signing/not signing is dominating the conversation right now.
Last season, despite being down Irving/Hayward, Celtics went farther than they are expected to go this season. I'm going to cut Hayward a lot of slack due to the injury. Kyrie on the other hand, has not been the leader for the Cs.
I'm hoping that there is an Anthony Davis trade to Boston, but we'll see how that goes..

The best part of the vid was those clips of Bruce Bowen while Pop was complaining about the ZaZa play. Pop is a scumbag.

The official story about the Porzingis trade doesn't make any sense. One second KP "expresses concern" about the direction of the Knicks and then 20 minutes later a trade involving like 10 separate moving parts is announced? Come on son. Clearly the Knicks decided to trade him and then tried to fish around for any excuse to retroactively justify their decision and paint KP as the villain who wanted out, so they used this random meeting to spring the move. Notice the original sneaky language stated Porzingis "gave the team the impression" he wanted to be traded which the lyin' media then ran with and turned into KP "demanded to be traded." Of course, "giving the impression" is entirely in the eye of the beholder so the Knicks front office could make such a statement regardless of what actually went down and not technically be lying. I'm skeptical KP actually wanted to leave NYC as he seemed to be very aware of the value of playing in the what is effectively the World Capital.
With that said, the Doncic/KP duo is going to be lit. We have no idea whether Porzingis is going to be same player after the injury, but if he is then Dallas is going to go far. People have already forgotten what an absolute beast KP was in the early part of last season before fatigue and later the injury derailed him. I think the dude was something like top 5 in scoring and top 3 in blocked shots over the first 20 games or so and was somewhat realistically talking about his goal for that season being DPOY. If we get the 38-inch vertical version of KP then that will be an amazing improvement over bum ass Deandre Jordan who doens't play defense and is only good for the occasional lob on offense.
Even if KP is athletically limited with the ACL, he's still going to be quite effective as an offensive player. The dude is 7'3 and shot over 40% from 3 last season with absolutely zero point guard play to create shots for him. With Doncic being able to create his own shot at will either on the perimeter or on drives to the basket and fire laser beam long distance passes, KP should be able to get much better quality shots, and as he has already proven in NY he doesn't need very much space at all to shoot over dudes.
It's going to free Doncic up to be much more effective as well, since right now he has nobody useful for pick and pop plays. His primary screen setter thus far has been Jordan who is completely ineffective for anything other than catching lobs. With KP setting screens and then staying out as a threat behind the 3 point line Doncic will have much more space to drive to the paint, which he's already great at doing even with the limited spacing provided by this Dallas roster. Unless KP is becomes a total injury disaster this is a great trade for the Mavs.

If Pete Maravich had played with a three point line in college, he would have have averaged over 50 points a game over three seasons of play.

Bo Kimble has the all-time high for a season in the three-point era -- 35.3 PPG (1,131 points in 32 games for Loyola Marymount in the 1989-90 season) -- and that’s still more than 200 points shy of Maravich’s top tally.
Let’s say Maravich, who died of a heart attack when he was just 40, would have made one 3-pointer in each of his 31 games in the 1969-70 season in addition to his 522 field goals that season. That’s an extra 93 points -- not a major difference. But there’s also a chance that the 3-point line would have had a dramatic effect on his game.
What if he'd made four or five per contest that season? Would Maravich have averaged 50 points per game? Seems feasible for a man who scored 61 points or more in four contests.

Pistol Pete, Jerry West, and Wilt Chamberlain are the 3 guys I would love to see time travel into today's NBA. All three would be unstoppable.
