Regarding the worst tourists, I'd say it's the groups of obnoxious young men on stag parties, brought in by low-cost airlines. Their obvious despair at seeing so many cute EE chicks, but getting none, turns them into loud and sour drinking machines.

I always wondered what they hope to achieve, traveling in such large groups (for just a couple of days, on top of that). Groups that can -successfully- chase pussy, are groups of 2 or 3, no more.

As to the Chinese tourists, they are getting more polite year after year, just like Russian (male) tourists are getting less unsmiling. A positive evolution of the world, at last!

They rarely go into the places that they take pictures of and certainly don't take the time to research what the history of the touristic place actually is. All they care about is what picture will get them the maximum amount of likes on their social media pages. These girls think that their shit doesn't stink and that they are the most wonderful and unique human beings on God's green earth.

5. The horny Mediterraneans who hit on everything that has a slit between their legs. These guys are generally from Spain or Italy, though the Portuguese or Greeks make an appearance every once in a while as well. It doesn't matter if the girl is big or small, short or tall, they do not discriminate and will spam approach in the nightclubs, partying like it's 1999.

6. The Australians, because for the life of me, I can not remember a single hostel that I have ever stayed at where I did not meet at least one Australian staying there. It's like that island does something to them, where they get cabin fever and just have to get away from the island for a little bit and go travel. For such a small population size, the Australians are over represented to such a degree on the hostel or backpacking circuits that you would think Australia would have a population of at least 75 million.

I say all of this in good fun and as an American who acknowledges that a subgroup of Americans are among the worlds worst tourists.

7. Post-military trained Israelis
Worse than cheap Chinese, megaphone Americans, overly macho Aussie dudes. These guys combine extreme cheapness, loudness and aggressiveness into a nasty combination to the point Thai hostels will state “no Israelis” on the window. Usually one will pick a fight with a Thai half his size and get promptly stabbed to death. This happens at least every few months yet they still keep coming and behaving like dicks

Brazilians are certainly the best tourists

I used to work in the restaurant business for 5 years in downtown Copenhagen. You get to see some interesting patterns.

In my personal experience, nothing comes even remotely close to the sheer lack of situational awareness and social skills of the chinese, and this makes them stand out from anything else I've ever seen or heard of.

Heavily equipped with umbrellas and cameras they go on a crusade, taking millions of pictures of the same unimportant things over and over again. They then proceed by climbing whatever statues and buildings that actually are important, completely unaware if it's a war memorial site or a statue of the queen. Hundreds of pictures are taken here yet again.

Now it's time for lunch.

After the first fifteen seconds at a cafe or restaurant, they've completely refurnished the enitre establishment. They dissolve into small groups, creating even more chaos all over the place.

They're hysterical, they're screaming, they don't greet anyone, they don't smile, and there's no eye-contact or any way of communication whatsoever, until finally the guide or the leader of the group decides to interrupt the waiter who's obviously in the middle of consulting guests at another table, only to point at a picture of some strange food listed in their stupid travel-guide book thing.

After 30 minutes, when all their orders are placed, they finish their meal quickly, pay the bill, never tip, and leave the staff to clean up what can only be described as a warzone. It always looks like someone placed a grenade at the table, blew the entire thing to smithereens and now food is stuck to the chairs and sauce is dripping from the tables. Napkins tossed all over the cadastral - it's a mess every single time. Oh and the ones spitting on the floor thinking that's the most common thing to do in any part of the world, jumping lines too.

They travel without so much as a bare minimum of understanding foreign concepts and culture. They're the most rude, awkward and ignorant people I've ever encountered.

The above story goes for at least 95% of all chinese tourists I've ever dealt with.

With most other nationalities, their behaviour tends to vary at least to some degree. That's not the case here.

Before entering a restaraunt, cafe, getting on a train or bus, I always check my surroundings if there is an Italian exist or not. You can distinguish an Italian from 10 meters. Even if she/he is alone and silent, you are not safe. He/she is going to start a loud mobile phone conversation 2 minutes later

That's my problem with many countries in Europe, actually. We go to restaurants or bars to socialize, when I went to countries like Austria-Germany-Latvia-Finland etc, I see restaurant being full to capacity, whatever it is, like 60-70 people, but there would be some awkward library silence as if nobody is there.

I don't get this at all. I mean, if you're gonna focus on your food and not talk to your friend that you're dining with, why the hell did you come to restaurant with him/her in the first place? Everybody would be on their phones and quietly eating their food. That's a big No in Italy. That's why I love New York so much, because everyone is very loud and make their presence strong enough.

Americans, generally, are loud as well. I mean, I didn't see much of quiet people in Boston, Miami or Dallas when I went there.

I just don't get the fact of going to bar or restaurant and simply acting like a mute in those countries I described above. I was recently in Finland and I'm seeing like 30-40 people at the bar but everybody was either introvert or hated each other to the point, where bar was basically library silent.

For me there are a clear top 5 worst countries...

1. USA - Not just loud but so incredibly stupid. The worst are the large family groups that travel together and seem to hate each other and the whole idea of traveling. They're the absolute worst to get in a tour group as there will always be one moron who thinks they know more than the tour guide and will try and take over and another idiot who has to ask the absolute stupidest questions that fit into one of 3 categories a) What the tour guide just finished talking about b) What the tour guide is clearly about to talk about next to anyone with below average brain function c) some asinine statement about something stupid back home that reminds them of something in the room that has literally nothing to do with the tour. I do enjoy the one family member who can actually read people and sees all the death stares and will try and shut the other members of the group up with the "X you're embarrassing us, just be quiet" which is like a challenge to X to double down on whatever stupid thing they were yelling about. American's are the idiots you will hear saying "WOW IT'S A BIG WALL" at the Great Wall, like it wasn't implicit in the name. I've only met a very small handful of solo travelers and they've been pretty good to be fair.

2. Chinese - Only behind the US because at least they're a bit quieter. The problem with them is they seem to want to bring their overcrowding with them wherever they go, if there is one Chinese guy you can expect another 100 will be trying to catch that flag together. The spitting is disgusting. The way they eat is disgusting. The worst part though for me is they all look absolutely miserable walking around with their little book that tells them what to take photos of. The positive is they take the photos quickly and are at least generally aware when other people are also trying to take photos.

3. Israelis - Arrogant as fuck, even cheaper than the stereotype implies and just rude. Had one tour with a group of 5 Israelis where they had their own private conversation loud enough to be annoying to everyone in the group trying to listen to the tour guide and then they had the audacity to complain that the tour guide wouldn't repeat his 5 minute talk because, and I quote, "We were clearly talking and you should have waited for us to finish". Remember meeting a cab driver in Peru who refused to pick up Israeli's because of how cheap they were, like it just wasn't worth his time. They get bonus points for their women being hot and seriously horny but they're probably the worst people on this list.

4. Indians - Basically like smelly versions of the Chinese with an added bonus of not disciplining their children for anything, ever. They're only here on the list because they basically only travel to 5 places so if you avoid those 5 places you wouldn't even know they exist... of course if you stumble on one of those places you're fucked.

5. French - Just rude and arrogant on a consistent basis. If someone does something where you just think "wtf are they doing, that's so rude" you can pretty much guarantee they'll speak French. The positive again here is that they don't travel to a lot of places so you can avoid them.

Bonus groups...

British - When the lads or the ladettes travel in groups they pretty much shoot to the top of the list but in smaller groups just traveling I find them to be one of the best groups to bump into so they average out on the better end.

Australians - Basically the same as the British, in smaller groups they're great but in large groups or Bali, just no. I hear an Aussie accent on a girl and it's basically a -3 because you just know she's going to drivel shit and make you want to kill yourself.

Italians - This one is tough because I've only actually met about 5 of them traveling outside of Italy and they were great (all solo travelers) and it's always harder to judge people in their own country but given that Italians are in general rude and how they act when touring their own country I'd have to think that if they ever start traveling somewhere en masse it will be horrific. They're the worst at walking I've ever experienced, like they go out of their way to be bad at it, I'm pretty sure they're still running "smoking is healthy" ads on the TV with the way they will intentionally force you to passive smoke and well, again, they're just super rude and just litter everywhere. Basically the worst tourists in Italy are the Italians which given it's a favourite spot of 3 of my top 5 list should say a lot. Ultimately, they stay in their own country though so they didn't make my list.

Russians - They're generally fine, especially their solo travelers but they have one area that is infuriating... when they travel in groups of 2-4 and they get to a "photo site" it becomes model time, they've got about 15 poses that every one of them has to do at every site and they all take turns doing it while aggressively defending whatever site it is so that no one else can take a photo. Basically if you get beaten to an attraction by a Russian couple and you don't have 15 minutes, just move on or take the photo with them in it because you're just not getting a chance to take a photo otherwise. They're the absolute worst I've ever seen for this. It's basically the 3rd step on identifying a Russian couple after hot woman and ugly dude (or if you question whether it's her dad or partner)

Shortlist for the best tourists for mine would be Canada, Dutch, Kiwi, German, Brazilian and Colombian in no particular order.

Vote goes to Chinese and Russians for reasons already listed. Also the following places should place a moratorium on single men travelling alone: Turkey, Pakistan, India, Southern Europe (in no particula order).

While loud and obnoxious Americans are pretty bad, at least they don't do tend to do anything outright outrageous, and don't bring lasting damage to the local environment. The worst are mainland Chinese people in numbers larger than three. On their own they tend to be courteous and modest. Once in a group they forget they're not in China anymore and seem hellbent on trashing the place until it's as unpleasant and low-class as their own workers' paradise. They buy up all the luxury (or simply non-broken) consumer items to ship home, disregard lines, impede foot traffic, and act as if everyone around them is garbage.

Nobody here has mentioned Danish, these people are a misrable bunch, often think they think they are superior to you, often rude and unsociable, Roosh was right about that country

Oh man, I just experienced this in Cozumel. I guess it has become popular with Israelis and the locals (I speak spanish and have local friends there) fucking hate them. They have bought up a bunch of properties there and are just fucking reviled by the locals.

So true! What's the point of traveling to a country with a better ratio if you plan to travel in a group of guys so large it ruins the ratio wherever you go? Sounds like mentally weak people that can't handle wandering far from the herd.
