We all know that most women use children as a means of getting a free ride. It is what it is. My question is this, could you possibly turn the tables and take advantage of the situation? Whores, excuse me, women everywhere do the same for visas, money, whatever.
Yes, having kids is equivalent to either castrating yourself or setting a large pile of money on fire (in most circumstances, unless you are in an "open relationship" -- or hit and run). But let's say you didn't give a shit.


Let's say, hypothetically, you're a young American kid about to graduate from college, with a shit load of student debt, nothing really going for you other than a bullshit job selling insurance... & you don't mind "winging it," making some potentially terrible life decisions and saying fuck it..

What if you want desperately to get out of a failing country that's culture will slowly kill you if you don't get out... even if that means subjecting yourself to something as disastrous as having a child.


I have seen posts on this forum from guys declaring their love for countries like brazil, columbia, argentina, poland, ukraine.. Yet they don't have the means to stay there on a permanent basis because of visa issues and $. If $ wasn't an issue, could impregnating a bitch be the ultimate sacrifice? Surely they can't kick you out of a country for wanting to work and take care of your child? Or maybe I'm wrong..

To me it only makes sense that if it's your child, you should be able to stay there and work so the kid can eat..

Getting a girl pregnant in any country does not give you a free pass to stay in a country, it just gets you a nice monthly payment for the next 18 years.

What an unmitigated fail to spend one's whole youth in a retarded cycle of constantly saving for and taking trips abroad - frittering away tens of thousands of dollars away and spending the lion's share of your time NOT abroad in the process - when you should have just sat down, formed a coherent plan for permanently expatriating yourself and acted upon it.

Don't blow Costa Rica off too quickly. I know a ton of guys that have been living there for years (in a few cases, over a decade) on nothing more than a 90 day tourist visa. All they do is cross the border into Nicaragua or Panama every 3 months (the bus to Managua is $24 round trip, IIRC), stay for 3 days, then return to Costa Rica with a nice new 90 day tourist visa.

The problem you may be thinking about is getting a visa that allows you to work in the country. Personally, I think an American (excluding those doing high paying technical work) going to a third world country for work is a horrible idea. Instead, focus on developing some online income that will allow you to live comfortably in one of these 3rd world countries.

I have a buddy that lives in Costa Rica, which is rather expensive for Latin America, on a $1,500 a month social security check. That is enough to live comfortable AND get laid more than the average 20 something in the US (both pros and regular girlfriends). I KNOW you could do the same in Colombia or the Dominican Republic.

Seriously, spend some time perusing location independent income, rather than trying to fight against some broke locals in a third world country for a crap job.

To give you an idea of how to generate location independent income, it breaks down broadly like this:

1) Sales - you are selling some product or service online. This can be Affiliate marketing, selling ebooks, etc.

2) Service - You are providing some service online. This can be programming, copy-writing, accounting/bookkeeping service, being a virtual assistant, etc.

Start one of those businesses NOW. If you need to, develop the skills to provide a specialized service and grow your business. Sock away your money. If you have serious financial problems and are afraid of a creditor garnishing your bank account, keep the money in cash, or a paypal account. When you have enough cash, THEN you can consider leaving the country.

Incidentally, what is "a shitload of student debt"? Can you give us a round number? Hypothetically, of course. Also, what degree would this person be graduating with?

Huh??? I'm seriously not getting how they are doing this. On a tourist Visa, you are only allowed 180 calendar days per year. So, you can certainly leave and come back for another 90 days, but then you're done unless you have another passport form a different country and re-enter with that one.

I seriously think your friends misinformed you, or you misunderstood.

Example:

January 1st, 2012 I enter Costa Rica

90 days later I leave to Panama on 3/31/2012

2 days later, on 4/2/2012, I re-enter Costa Rica and get another 90 days - wohoo!

90 days later, On July 1, 2012 - goodbye Costa Rica until January 1, 2013, unless I can come back with a another passport from a different country.

I am not an expert on such matters, but I think that Ronnie Biggs (old school British super G, part of The Great Train Robbery) impregnated a girl in Brazil (probably married her to) to escape extradition to England.

He basically stayed in Brazil his whole life.

The for some reason, he actually went back to England and I think died in prison.

(The story might not be 100% accurate, but that was my understanding. Look it up if you are interested.)

There is no 180 day per year rule in Costa Rica. They have that rule in Colombia (and I think Brazil), but definately not Costa Rica. This is an EXTREMELY common practice, they are called "perpetual tourists". Just google "perpetual tourist Costa Rica".

The only thing that has changed is that occasionally now they may ask you for exactly how many days you plan on staying and put that on your visa. This hasn't happened consistently, but it has occurred.

Good advice except the bit about Paypal. Do NOT sock away your funds in a Paypal account. I'm sending a friendly warning to everyone here based on experience. The folks at Paypal are the scum of the universe. If they or their computers suspect any funny business or too much $ in a Paypal account, they won't hesitate to straight up FREEZE your account (they call it a limitation). Most of the time these limitations are temporary and after answering a bunch of super personal questions (like social security #, driver's license, etc.), they'll usually lift the limitation. If you get perm banned with them you are FUCKED and you literally will have to use their service on the down low (stealth style) from that point onwards. I would love to see them go out of business, but the goliath EBay owns them unfortunately. A bunch of robotic assholes in Omaha, Nebraska make pretty much all the decisions for Paypal. Try contacting their customer service when your account gets limited and you'll see what I'm talking about.

And many countries have this rule but don't enforce it. For example, I (and many others) had no problem returning to Argentina beyond the 180 allowed days. The Schengen area, on the other hand...

I wasn't detailing my exact situation, but pretty close. I should be able to pay off my debt (28k) in around a year based on the salary I'll be making next year. But that wasn't the point. I know a lot of kids with student debt of over 100k and they're planning on going to grad school, on more student loans. I was lucky to get financial aid, but it's never enough.

In some countries, you can gain permanent residency by family reunification with your child. You'll obviously need to be listed as the father on the official birth certificate. Don't be surprised if that doesn't open you up to some sort of child support. And there may be additional conditions you have to meet for your residency.

It called an "anchor baby", and can even be used by people looking to become US residents. However, there are generally better, and easier, ways to get permanent residency somewhere.

Honestly, fleeing the country to avoid student loans (even if they are $100K) doesn't make any sense. It reminds me of the old saying about suicide "A permanent solution to a temporary problem." It makes even less sense to have $100K, THEN go to an expensive grad school to cake on more debt, THEN flee the country.

The odds are that the pay cut a person will take from working outside the US will be higher than the monthly payments they will have to make on their debt.

At a certain point, folks need to take responsibility for their life and manage their finances BEFORE they get into dumbass situations like this. Just something as simple as breaking out an excel spreadsheet and punching in the MEDIAN income for a new person in their field and estimated income increases over the years. Determine if going to grad school (especially going to that particular grad school) is even worth it. You have to do the math.

I'm 35, and I see the same shit with my friends. I have a friend who is my age and STILL has undergrad student loans. Her plan is to get a masters degree (with more loans) to boost her GPA so that she can go to law school (more loans) and hopefully get a PhD afterwards (still more loans). Even after all of that, she is sill planning on working in the public and academic sector. When I mentioned that she is looking at close to $250K in student loans, she told me that she knows she will be paying of student loans for the rest of her life. Why?

I have another buddy that was set to drop almost $40K for an MBA at some for-profit university, until I told him about 5 state universities that had MBA programs for $10K or less. For that little you can forgo a loan all together and just pay cash.

Fleeing the country wasn't really the point. Or the student loans. I was just trying to give a possible example. The main question was if you could use impregnating a bitch to gain a more permanent residency in a country.
