Hi Fellow RVFers

So I'm a lawyer at large Fortune 500 corporation. I've had a good career so far: I've worked under a now Supreme Court judge, worked at Private Equity Firm, and a top law firm.

I get a new boss two (2) weeks ago. Today I get notice I'm being fired for under performing in the last weeks.

My boss is an old 48 year old lady who has never been married and doesn't have a boyfriend.

I don't think there's any real justification for the underperforming since I've shown in my career that I can exceed targets consistently.

What should I do?

Apply for unemployment. Fuck around for a bit and have some fun. Maybe explore your interests and go from there.

Supreme Court judge?

Either a troll or a strict Constitutionalist. Betting the former.

No one here is against "At will employment" until they're at the wrong end of management.

A Supreme Court judge in Australia not the USA. Don't be too presumptive. It reflects poorly on your own social status and it clearly reveals your own social circle to be composed of losers who simply can't fathom someone working under someone who is now a judge.

Find a new job. What else? If you have those credentials you should have no problems.

I would speak to an employment lawyer about whether you have grounds for wrong dismissal.

I have an idea:

I don't know what its called down under, but what lawyers do in america is called "suing" people. I'm not a lawyer, but I think those guys that are call it "wrongful termination" or something.

Don't listen to some of the advice you're getting here.

With a resume like that, I'd imagine you have a pretty impressive rolodex in your network. Get to work and start calling people.

Then again....this is career 101 for people in that kind of career. I find it highly unlikely that you would have such a resume without already knowing how to react when you lose job, or being the kind of person that is easily able to replace it.

Hell. When you run in that circle you're usually fighting off headhunters with a stick.

I've had some of the best, most productive times of my life on unemployment. Was in first year of grad school while on one stretch of unemployment, wrote some nice songs in the country on a second.

That stretch was from a stint of work in IT, I was obviously so much smarter than my cat lady boss everyone in meetings started asking ME questions like I was the boss. I didn't last long with her after that.

Once you've weaseled out of work for a day and enjoyed yourself, the snoids and cat ladies can never get that day back lol.

OP, your problem is you're already making too much money to enjoy unemployment, or perhaps are one of those bizarre characters that enjoys his job.

OP hit the nail on the head. He didn't even say a federal SC judge, each of the states have them too.

So OP has a supposed credible resume with some great experience.

If he does that he will have a bad reputation. He seems to have a good resumé. And as a lawyer can´t expect to have too much job comfort. Just find something else. It will not be hard. Or open own practice.

I think it will be hard for the OP. Succeeding in a law career is significantly harder when you're someone who plays a lawyer on the internet...

If this is legit...

Take it as a wake up call and a blessing in disguise. Take some time off and travel the world, pursue your passions/hobbies. Go see the world, bang some exotic girls in exotic locations. Meet cool and interesting people around the world while learning new things, even picking up a language or two. While doing the most important thing in life, LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST!

I don´t have to be a lawyer to realize if the OP is telling the truth he will find a similar job in 3-6 months. Unless there´s a recession or he enters some depression.

Your reaction has been nothing short of hilarious. I get the sense some of the more underachieving beta males on this forum have been struck with jealousy.

I was never asking for advice on how to get my next role. That's easily sorted, and I'm already going to interviews.

Rather, I was asking how to deal with this lady on a more personal level. What could I do to take out revenge?

Ummm....when did I ask about being a lawyer? It was you who wrongly inferred I was seeking legal advice. It would be best if you took advantage of your logical thinking skills rather than your emotional impulsive side.

Don't blame us for a poorly worded question. Can't speak for the others but I will always be happy for another RVFer having success.

Now as for how to get back.....do you have any physical access to go back and get your stuff or not?

If yes look either use liquid ass or fill up her candy bowl with sugar free gummiess. If not call her up and say that your friend has a cat and since you know she loves cats you thought she might be interested. If she agrees go to she shelter and get the nastiest cat they have.

I'll give you a tip: this a forum full of 'alphas' but nevertheless it is a forum where we don't really need you to act like a prick. You must be new. You can be 'alpha' all you want in real life but being a bit 'beta' on here might just you know actually get you the assistance that you are looking for.
