I'll be honest. I still have no clue how Pepe came to be the unofficial mascot of this election cycle. Is it more that just textbook "the Internet being weird"? Or is it a commentary on the absurd theater that is this election between the wife of an ex-president that everyone is being socially shamed into supporting and the perfect antithesis of what what that woman stands for?

Notice that something big happened when The Daily Beast (a site which CHELSEA CLINTON is on the board of directors for) lied and said it was a white supremecist/nazi meme.

The internet has been on a non stop lollercoaster since them.

Not only that, but the "journalist" who wrote that article, Olivia Nuzzi, has developed into a joke among people who think (and treat her as though) she's a secret member of the alt-right. See: #altrightolivia hashtag on twitter or tweets from her like this.
