So, I was in Kuala Lumpur last week on a business trip and was walking around the streets during my free time. TC, I think the girl had you locked in as a guy she wouldn't fuck before you bought her the drink. A couple cues from your story tell me this:

1. You said you weren't in game-mode; i.e. not prepared
2. You said she was expecting you to buy the drink

You should break down every moment of the interaction and decide where you went wrong from there.

I'm not against buying women drinks, so long as they buy me one first. period.

Well I had gotten laid on the previous night and was running on 3 hrs of sleep so was really tired and wasn't feeling too motivated. So when I picked her up and insta-dated I thought of playing it totally cool without worrying about getting the bang, and moreover, the overall logistics were shitty so I didn't care much anyway. I just thought I would chit-chat and share travel stories and if that naturally progresses to a bang then fine. The convo was flowing well and she was asking me questions about my life, but I'd rate her interest level at 7/10.
I usually don't let paying for drink become that big part of the whole equation, but nevertheless I'm definitely wary of drink-diggers. You have fair points, but I got frustrated not because I wasn't able to get anywhere despite having paid for the drink, but rather I was totally appalled at her sudden 180 after I paid for it.
