Teacher restricts Lego-play to girl students in pursuit of gender equity

http://www.bainbridgereview.com/news/343127562.html

Biology denialist teacher foists her preferences on her classroom:

Quote:Quote:

In Karen Keller’s kindergarten classroom, boys can’t play with Legos.

They can have their pick of Tinkertoys and marble tracks, but the colorful bricks are “girls only.”

“I always tell the boys, ‘You’re going to have a turn’ — and I’m like, ‘Yeah, when hell freezes over’ in my head,” she said. “I tell them, ‘You’ll have a turn’ because I don’t want them to feel bad.”

Although her approach might anger some parents, Keller is sticking to her guns: It’s all part of a plan to get girls building during “free choice,” the 40 minutes of unstructured play time embedded at the end of every school day.

Injustice or ingeniousness?

For years, Keller, who has taught at Captain Johnston Blakely Elementary since 2008, watched with discouragement as self-segregation defined her classroom — her boy students flocked to the building blocks while her girl students played with dolls and crayons and staples, toys that offered them little challenge or opportunity to fail and develop perseverance.

She did her research and concluded that something had to give; her girl students were indeed missing out.

This is taking education geared to girls up a notch.

Quote:Quote:

At first, Keller tried enticing her girl students with pink and purple Legos.

“But it wasn’t enough,” she said. The girls weren’t interested and the boys just expanded their palettes.

So this past fall, when Bainbridge Schools Foundation announced its Classroom Enrichment Grants, Keller saw her chance to affect change.

She asked for funding to purchase LEGO Education Community Starter Kits for three Blakely classrooms, writing that “while it’s not necessary to board up the playhouse and adopt the babies out, concrete steps can be taken to ameliorate the gender gap in the kindergarten and present engaging ways to develop girls’ spatial skills.”

What she didn’t tell BSF, however, was that the boys wouldn’t get to play with the new 1,907-piece sets.

“I had to do the ‘girls only Lego club’ to boost it more,” she explained. “Boys get ongoing practice and girls are shut out of those activities, which just kills me. Until girls get it into their system that building is cool, building is ‘what I want to do’ — I want to protect that.

In other words, until girls want to do something they currently don't want to do we have to force it on them, and vice versa for the boys.

If civilization had been left in female hands we would still be living in grass huts. - Camille Paglia

That means the most under-served demographic in education, African-American boys, is being denied an opportunity to learn while in her classroom.

Karen Keller of Captain Johnston Blakely Elementary (4704 Blakely Avenue, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110, Ph 206-842-4752) has just discriminated against all the African-American boys in her class, as well as any who happen to be Hispanic, Indian, Asian, or Middle Eastern.

I wonder if the school system will realize that Karen Keller of Captain Johnston Blakely Elementary has put them in violation of the 1954 Supreme Court ruling Brown Vs. the Board of Education.

It's a shame her name will now show up in Google searches for all eternity in this context. It would be even worse if Return of Kings did an article on this. Feel free to take my concept and run with it.

If you hate children, why would you become a kindergarten teacher?

One of those boys' parents should file a civil suit for discrimination. I'd imagine a hefty settlement with title IX and all. The minority parents will be icing on the cake.

Another data point in the notion that modern liberalism (male/female egalitarianism, racial egalitarianism, LGBT "rights," etc.) is not about equality of opportunity, but rather about imposing the ideology of a sanctimonious few upon the many.

My mom was a first grade teacher, and from what she's told me there's been a long history of boy-hating schoolteachers going back far before any of this feminist crap got going. If you go back prior to the sexual revolution if you were an unmarried man-hating dyke you'd have to get a profession since you wouldn't have a husband supporting you, and teaching was one of the professions open to women.

Part of my current tendencies today are driven and were created in part by the man hating behavior of some of my piss poor teachers in my formative years. Frankly women like her disgust me and almost make me want to see the Muhammadins succeed in collectively putting all of the trash in their place.

Looks like the school district removed her email from their faculty directory. Gee wonder why.

Thankfully Google thought otherwise:

Even as a kid I noticed that there was something very "off" with at least half of the female elementary/middle school teachers that were around. In high school it was a bit better since the qualifications were higher in the city I was in. However, even then there were several questionable teachers.

Mmost of the bitchy ones were late 20's to post wall unmarried women.

It's no surprise really in hindsight.

Women should not really be teaching young boys anything. There is really nothing to learn from a woman. A mother can certainly raise a kid but most of the important life lessons still can't be imparted by a woman to a boy. When you add in non related male hating women into the social mix it becomes a disaster. These types of women are toxic and should not be around young children at all.

...because you want to program children into what you believe they should be.

The public school system was thoroughly-subverted by Left-wing crazies during the 1970's, the charge led by short-haired lesbians. It's the first noticeable institution I saw fall in my lifetime.

When I started school in 1975, we used to sing 'God Save the Queen' each morning and the National Anthem. The lefties saw that both Queen and God were gone by the end of the decade, as well as corporal punishment. By the mid-80's, you rarely sung the National Anthem, and they'd changed the opening line: "Australia's Sons" to "Australian's All".

The majority of female teachers I had were Man-Hating Lesbians and barely hid the fact. I'd figured out by ten years old that the mushroom 'do on a woman meant a miserable-to-cuntish demeanour and a desire that 'everything should be fair'.

Any of you have experience with military schools? I think they are all-male. They also seem to place a lot of emphasis on discipline. How are these schools fairing nowadays?

I really think we should be using the enemy's tools against them. For example:

http://knowyourix.org/title-ix/how-to-fi...complaint/

I'd do this myself but a little bit inconvenient at present. Anyone want to do this? This should actually be done on a massive scale.

Importantly, you do not have to be the victim in order to file the complaint. Title IX applies to all K-12 schools.

So they are regulating play time? That is ridiculous. Now boys need to learn to play house and girls need to learn to play wrestling?

Whenever someone pushed their arbitrary authority on me as a kid, I never respected them. This included my parents. My mother always reasoned "Because I'm your mom!" My father always made attempts to use reason.

For whatever reason, women never felt they had to explain themselves. Their authority was enough. Men in positions of authority have mostly recognized the need to use logic and reason.

My brother and his wife homeschool their three boys. They love playing with Lego. Smart, happy, well-loved kids. Reading stuff like this is a window on pure evil.

According to this teacher, the best way to give girls a chance at competing with men in spatial skills and in other ways is to actively undermine boy's mental development and try to make them stupid.

Based on that logic, boys should be using textbooks the are of a lower quality than the ones girls learn from and all boys should be slightly malnourished to ensure that their brains never develop fully and they have more physical limitations.

Sounds like a good plan for America's future.

I am not surprised by this article at all. I'm in the DC area and there's a local parenting forum here where the a similar issue came up:

Quote:Quote:

How to confront a reach who shows preference to girls?
This teacher has only rewarded the girls for good behavior. No boys have earned the treasure box so far this year. Having volunteered in the classroom, I can say that 3 boys are a real handful but the rest are just as well behaved as the girls. However, they go unnoticed. Teacher is quick to put boys on notice for all, even minor, infractions. The girls with the same behavior go ignored. Any advice?

Here are some of the replies:

Quote:Quote:

Brave of you to bring it up. In K we had a teacher like this and no one said anything. She was always "punishing" the boys by moving them down in a behavior chart. It was humiliating for a lot of them to always be on the "bad" colors and I think several of them started to dislike school.

Quote:Quote:

My DS has been lucky enough to have great teachers for every year so far except kindergarten (and she definitely had gender preferences among other issues – turned my DS off to school almost completely until he had a fabulous teacher in 1st, so it CAN have an impact). But I will say how surprised I've been to find at least one teacher in every grade who seems to prefer girls over boys or vice versa. ... I used to think this was a load of BS, but I've now personally seen it in every grade so far in elementary.

Quote:Quote:

This is what happened to us. Totally targeted. Teacher clearly loved girls, had no tolerance for boys. That's an ongoing problem with elementary school. Most teachers are middle class white women, and they value quiet time and cooperation and can't tolerate noise or movement.

Quote:Quote:

I seriously think you have the same teacher my child had in 1st. (Young female teacher at a school in an expensive area perhaps?)The girls all earned treasures with ease and I was floored that it seemed like boys never did.

Say something. I did. She gave me attitude, so I then mentioned it to the principal who took it seriously and things improved.

Can you imagine if a teacher most rewarded boys? It would be newspaper-worthy. People would be using terms like "gender discrimination" and "sexism."

I really think they should get rid of kindergarten all together. A good wife can teach all the crap the kids "learn" in kindergarten.

Funny that actual construction and building jobs, which are extremely physically demanding, are not an area where women are demanding equality.

So even her extremely misguided point has no basis in reality in the long term.

Glad you asked.

For the same reason someone who hates criminals becomes a prison guard: For power, control, and the freedom to get to exercise their sadistic and abusive sides without (usually) getting called on it.

People assume the best about citizens who go into "helping" fields like education, law enforcement, or health care. But often these people are petty tyrants who just want power in their little fiefdoms.

If this teacher gets canned for what she wrote about boys, expect her to be the one giving you a hard time and trying to humiliate you in front of your girlfriend when she lands in a customer service job somewhere.

Addendum: Looks like other manosphere blogs are picking up on this story, including Moonbattery and Alpha Game. If this teacher does get fired and the lamestream media picks up on it, expect the healthy (and valid) criticosm of all these blog posts to be translated as "death threats!" ™.
