Really looking forward to the St. Maarten info. I've always planned a business operation there in the future but it's really lacking some solid data on the game situation.

I just returned from St. Maarten.

In sum, I wouldn't recommend St. Maarten for the single player or for the international player really. Like most Caribbean islands (except for places like DR or Cuba), it's a cool place to bring a chick for those of you who are married or in LTRs. Great place for a blue pill guy actually. Otherwise, it's not the move. First of all, during high season from December to April, accommodations are expensive. You're looking at $200/night for anything decent. On top of that, you'll probably want to rent a car (which sucks if you drink). Buses (vans) don't run all night and taxis can be expensive depending on where you are going and where you are staying. Gas in St. Maarten is like $6/gallon.

On top of that, the vast majority of visitors are American and English-speaking Canadians. This was not what I expected. Think about it. Isn't the reason we travel abroad is to get away from those kind of chicks? I saw some of the most annoying shit I hadn't seen since my early years in the game. Girls NOT dressing or looking feminine (think sandals not heels), dancing together in tight circles, and almost without fail any cute girl would be holding hands with her atrocious fat or ugly friend or was in vip with some kind of lame social circle or with her mom even lol. I could have used a wing but he would have had to take a big L for the team. It was quite the disappointment. The ratio was also horrible at both establishments I went to. 3 or 4 guys to 1 girl. These girls were really young too. There weren't many of them to begin with. Most of the island, including pretty much everyone on my flight, was filled with elderly people.

I was thinking there would be Dutch and French girls all over the place, but this is not true. Despite the history and name of the Dutch side of the island, it's practically an American colony. The locals themselves don't even speak Dutch! Seriously. Everyone speaks English and the US dollar is the de facto currency. All of the prices are quoted in US dollars. Try to pay with the Euro or Netherland Antillean dollar and you'll get raped. St. Maarten is its own country with its own government. No real connection to the Netherlands anymore.

The island is surprisingly very small. Only a 15 minute drive to the French side's capital from the Dutch side. The French side sucks. It's quiet, poorer and dead. There's no nightlife out there either. It has better nature activities and nicer beaches though. Orient Beach, the nude beach on the French side, is visited by mostly old or unsightly folks. Nothing to write home about.

The Dutch side is where the island's hustle and bustle goes down. It's pretty much the more touristy and developed side as well and also where the nightlife is. The nightlife is pretty much confined to two venues, Bliss and Tantra. They are within walking distance from each other and are both in Maho.

The main areas of the Dutch side are Maho and Simpson Bay.

Simpson Bay has good restaurants and places to stay. I recommend Zee's Best and The Taste Factory (French resto) for breakfast. I also recommend Aldywan (Lebanese resto) for lunch or dinner. Great food overall in St. Maarten.

In Maho, Bamboo Bernies is a good spot to eat/pregame and right across from Tantra which is next door to Casino Royale.

Bliss, also in Maho, is next to Sunset Island Bar and Grill on Maho Beach and next to Dunes Casino.

Tantra plays electro/trance dance stuff (pretty much all beats). Nice venue. $15 cover.



Bliss has a sick setup which is a splitting image of a spot called Barco Hundido where I used to live in Bocas del Toro, Panama. I wish I remembered to ask for the owner to find out if that's where he got the idea or vice versa. It also resembles Nikki Beach in South Beach.





The good thing about the nightlife is it starts late. I mean it really starts to fill up around 1am and goes on until 4am or so. They also allow smoking inside.

Other than that though, it's not smooth for the single traveler. The local chicks aren't anything to write home about (funny how they were giving me mad attention) and the visiting chicks are annoying and uninspiring birds from North America (no thanks). The Caribbean is just too laid back; as in too laid back for even pickup. There are so many better places to be. I mean guys at the clubs I went to were having dance battles and poplocking. It was ridiculous. I briefly chatted with one dude from NY who has been there for four months without plans and hemorrhaging cash while not getting laid. What a waste of time and money. That dude would be getting a hell of a lot more of an ROI if he was in a place like Colombia, Brazil or DR...

My short trip was even shortened further due to an unbelievable delay when leaving DC. Was supposed to fly out at 8:30am and arrive in SM at 1:30 pm local time (SM is one hour ahead of DC). Instead, we didn't depart until 2:15pm and got to SM at 8pm. The airline came out of pocket and my friend decided to bail after the first couple of hours, so I went down by myself. Can't blame him. Had it not been for the dark skies, shit weather and rain in DC, I would have made the same call. Anyway, it was already dark by the time I got to SM so checking out beaches was no longer an option. So I checked into my digs near the airport, showered up, ate dinner and went out.

The main highlight of St. Maarten is Maho Beach, which is that infamous beach next to the airport runway, resulting in arriving flights flying in real close to the beach. Makes for sick photos. It looks like this:



Like I said, it's a place to bring a girl or to relax. If boating/sailing/yachting is your thing, there's stuff to do here. There are some nearby islands like Anguilla (which is completely dead in terms of nightlife) and St. Barts (which is filled with A-list Hollywood celebs btwn Christmas and Jan 10th).

Even though "Danza Kuduro" was shot in St. Maarten, those chicks were brought in from elsewhere for the video. It's nothing like that down there!

Man I have no idea where that hype comes from. It takes some money to play in the Caribbean so by default most people who visit are considerably older. Even if an occasional attractive girl rolls through it's not enough to justify the cost of getting out there in the first place. Personally, I have never heard of Carib islands being home to girls ripe for pickup. Exceptions being big island countries like DR, PR or Cuba.

Spots like Turks and Caicos are full of Canadians and the Government has even openly mused about setting up some official type union of it being a oversees territory. What this means is that the Older people with money go down their to bake and rot in the sun. A lot of times they make it a family affair and drag down their kids whom bring one or two of their friends. They chill for 5 days wearing no make up and flip-flops and do nothing but eat and drink and grind with randoms at the bar. They would fuck you but since they share a suite with their parents they won't. You go to any Caribbean island in high-time and you will meet an abundance of Canadian's more-so then American's it seems. We have really taken up to the islands and many of our airlines are now offering direct flights with hotels following offering good deals.

The only good things I hear about those random small islands is from people whom have family in those parts and know exactly how to have a good time when they go down there.

Hencredible fucking nailed it. I've been to St. Martin a few times now and whoever said there are a bunch of French/Dutch girls running around couldn't be any further from the truth. Finding a decent rack at the nude beach is like finding a needle in a haystack. The island is a port of call for all of the major cruise lines, so most of the beaches are constantly filled with older Americans.

Only have been to Martinique once and it was over at least 12 years ago, so I'm sure a lot has changed, but I do know that it will help you tremendously if you can speak some French. It's not as Americanized as some of the other islands. Don't recall many white people either, ones I saw were mostly European.

Not many of these small islands have much going for them besides the tax revenue they book from the luxury all-inclusives. One of the smaller islands with the most modern infrastructure down there is probably St. Thomas. Can't say much about it since I wasn't there very long, but compared to St. Lucia, St. Kitts, and a myriad of the other smaller islands, the place doesn't look poor and rundown.

Aren't all of those Caribbean islands full of big-ballers wooing girls with their giant yachts and whatnot? Kind of like Hvar in Croatia?

I'm generalizing, here, of course, but that's my first impression when you mention that area.

i have been to Guadeloupe and St Lucia. I remember watching the carnival parade at Castries. Girls are not pretty there. I remember my aunt complaining that everybody was so ugly. And she lived in Africa in the 80s so used to blacks. Guadeloupe is boring with annoying people. I have never been to the island of my country (Curacao,Aruba, and others) but i know a lot of dutch girls who go there on internship and g i suspect them of getting fucked theee. a lot of them like the parties there. Think aboht visiting that islands man!

+1. Club Med is great in Brasil, I have been more than a dozen of times at Itaparica (and a few times at Rio Das Petras), great atmosphere, 98% upper-class brasilians and argentinians, almost no gringos. I met at Itaparica an argentinian girl who would become my ex-wife (she was a GO).

I also went a lot to Club Med when I was younger, I've made maybe twenty different branches. I've been to St Lucia and Guadeloupe. I remember the Carnival of St Lucia, a main event with scarce looking girls. If I dig deep enough in my picture collection I would find some pictures.

I have not been there but Jamaica is under the radar especially if your a black guy for tourist bangs. Most local girls are not my cup of tea but they are a easier option if you want to get laid while on vacation.

I've seen guys pretend to be Jamaican get the girl, mind you there is pretty good chance she is high too and might not care.

I'm back heading tomorrow again for another 5 night stay in Montego Bay. The problem is most guys stay in the all inclusive resorts and rarely go outside. The best nights are when they bus in the tourists for free on Thursday's at Margaritaville or Friday's at Pier 1.... these places are happening.

That said my main reason for Jamaica is the beaches, food, culture... but there are gaming options around.
