What's sad is that the alleged sexual assault was an unofficial (unverified) account.

No man is safe from false rape accusations.

Oh well.

If it were me, I'd be like "Thank you for doing me the favor of not having to have my name associated with Cecil John Rhodes."

It's obvious that none of these students do any research on that man.

Would you care to be a Hitler scholar?

Witt’s accuser has not gone to the police, nor filed what Yale considers a formal complaint.

I'm not surprised, of course, but this is ridiculous.

We're Facebook friends and I've played against him twice-never met formally with a handshake or anything off the field or off line, but in a way we are "acquainted".

I'll speak from personal experience here: I do not trust Ivy League girls with rape accusations. I've seen myself and many other men of good character (men whom I'm certain know how to take no for an answer) falsely accused of rape and sexual assault, a disproportionate number of them minorities and athletes.

I do not know what precisely it is about girls here that causes them to be this way. Perhaps its their insecurity (most were obviously nerds in high school, not the most graceful social beings) that causes them to be particularly skittish when it comes to these things. Perhaps its their inexperience (again, tied to the awkwardness) that causes them to be more fearful around men. Perhaps many are just snobs, deluding themselves into thinking that any man who is less than perfectly smooth in his encounters with them is guilty of violating her.

I can't tell you what exactly it is. What I can tell you (and what I do tell any young guys I come across who are matriculating at my school) is this: stay away from drunk girls here. I do not care if you're drunk too, nor do I care if she's "all over you" by the end of the night and looks like a "sure thing". Do not move forward-tell her you will see her again when she is sober, and head on home. Jack off if you've got to. These girls, for whatever reason, will turn on you in a second. When she regrets her actions the night before or feels at all uncomfortable about what she has done and how it has made her look (few girls are more insecure than those in the Ivies about appearances-at least at my particular school), it will be you thrown under the bus along with your future.
This is how men (particularly non-white or large, athletic men) must operate here. You're dealing with the type of woman who (and yes, I've heard this exact kind of anecdote more than once) will cuss a man out for trying to help her up outside of a frat/in a basement after she falls on her face, women who will look at you like a common criminal and act accordingly simply because you approached them. This has particularly (it happens to others, but less commonly) been the experience of many minorities (hispanic and black particularly) of all body types and even some of the bigger white athletes on my campus-these girls are scared. They are not your friends. You're guilty with them until proven innocent.

Of course, it could be possible that there was no lie here-he's got a record (three crimes already) and all that, so you'll never know. But in my mind, girls in these environments are no more trustworthy. I'll believe it when I see (proof of) it.

This whole story is a disgrace of journalism -- it's full of innuendo and speculation and assumptions. The New York Times is a disgusting piece of trash.

And I agree totally with Athlone -- I teach courses at a major university and the fembots have taken hold of the extra-judicial processes investigating "harassment." The current state of investigatory procedures in this arena is a blatant violation of the 4th amendment.

The choice between lodging a formal or informal complaint doesn't make sense to me. The fact that on-campus assaults don't have to be reported to the police also raises a flag with me. Either someone is accusing you of a crime or they aren't - there's no in-between there. It seems to me that there shouldn't be any doubt about whether you got raped/assaulted. If you're not sure, then you weren't (if you pass out and wake up with a sore pussy/asshole, you can assume someone got you). An unofficial complaint and investigation only serves to smear a young man, while the trick remains anonymous. That's bullshit. If you really believe you got raped, make it formal and have a real investigation.

Because they can, without punishment, while getting attention at the same time, something that her culture has taught her to value above all else.

Take the data of false rape accusations and plot a graph of it against the rise of Facebook, iPhones, and celebrity gossip magazines. Ten years ago I was writing about game and I never heard about false rape accusations. It popped on the radar 3-5 years ago. Women are being rewarded for doing it, based on the upside-down needs they now have.

I was just talking about this in school on Friday. Whenever these "legitimate rape" arguments come up, the side favoring the woman tries to turn the debate into an emotional, pity ode for women and how they would never lie about something like rape.

I throw their politically-correct, emotional crap right back at them by asking them what they would say to the men of color who were lynched on false accusations of rape or, were recently released by DNA evidence in rape cases after losing more than 10 years of their life in prison. Innocent until proven guilty, get some forensic evidence before you smear a young man's future.

Althlone is right though, I know plenty of men who have had this problem in the Ivy League. Something about the environment makes them batshit crazy.

Some insight into the female psyche in the Ivy League, and particularly at Yale: Apparently all men are bad at sex at Yale: http://www.yaledailynews.com/news/2012/j...awful-sex/

At least she understands the principles of supply and demand for alphas in the article, but in blaming most the males for no satisfying women and calling their egos "fragile" she sounds like one of those D.C blogger chicks complaining about "no good men."
