I don't support the government, I'm just telling people the opinions of those on the ground in the capital.

It's not like they have spies in the bloody pubs. It's not like communism at all - free markets, there is no censorship, people can move around. Many of the locals we talked to were educated and well travelled, not worried at all about "disappearing" when they give their opinion over a pint. WTF?
I have two Syrian Sunnis in my class here - one of whom worked at the UN for nine years. Both attended a pro-government demo in Dublin. But I guess they attended attended out of fear, right?
