The next time that you replace your wallet, keep the old one. Keep your old expired credit cards too. When you travel abroad, keep the old wallet, the expired credit cards, and a few bucks in the most obvious place. If you get mugged, just turn over the fake wallet and expired credit cards. They will just grab it and run. Moreover, if you get hit by a pickpocket, they will grab the fake wallet. Keep your real wallet in a more secure place on your person.
This right here... Everyone should do this.
great advice and often overlooked. (likewise scanning stuff)
I always travel with a really cheap wallet full of “debris”. Expired cards, general junk, a little bit of cash.
I’d be happy for a mugger to have it. Anyone can steal it. I’d never lose it in a supermarket or bar because I’d never take it out of my pocket...If I did It’s essentially worthless.
This year I found the following way of carrying plastic without risk:
I carry a “no name” Visa with me as a primary source of funds. It has a regular number, and works in regular ATM machines, but doesn’t carry my name on the card.
I fund it via a wire from my regular account (all done online). It has no overdraft so I won’t get screwed if it gets stolen.
It’s essentially like a grown up version of one of those “Gift Cards” you get in malls I think?(I’m not from the U.S.A. I’m U.K. based)
Unlike a gift card, you can load it with a heap of cash every month (Actually unlimited!) and the withdrawals can be large too....ATM: $2,000 USD per day or max of 5 ATM transactions; Point of Sale: $25,000 USD per day or max of 5 POS transactions.
Not that I’m in the lifestyle to roll like that!
In theory you don’t have to report it for tax either... Use your imagination!
I got into this stuff after just under a year of research into PT lifestyle and Sovereign Man membership...I see G-Manifesto has posted about him before.
Changing the subject: (I’m not a crackpot conspiracy guy, I just enjoy reading about tech!) On the RFID thing... Your best bet is actually tin foil... The RFID sleeves can “leak”. At best do your research before you buy. Saying that, I wouldn’t especially want to cross a border and be seen unwrapping a foil package.....
The really paranoid types pop it in a microwave (5 seconds or it’ll catch fire!). You can also slice the electrical connection with a surgical blade. Believe it or not, the best way is to cover the chip with a thin cloth and then smash the shit out of it with a heavy hammer.
It isn’t detectable but generally kills the chip and tracking info whilst easily being attributed to an accident (it shouldn’t leave a mark if you do it properly).
Just to confirm: I do talk to girls and don’t sleep in a weird tinfoil hat!
