Best way to pack a suit?
12-27-2011, 03:01 AM
So, I made a two weeks trip and packed a suit. I folded it as neatly as I could and packed it in my travel bag. As soon as I got there I unpacked and hung the suit. It was perfect, with no wrinkles.
On the way back I repeated the procedure, and the suit was wrinkled all over when I unpacked.
So, the question is, what is the best way to fold, pack, and take care of a suit for travel?
Also, what is the best way to remove wrinkles without taking it to the cleaners to be ironed?

Samsonite travel steamer. Dual voltage too. Itll save you in a pinch. Especially when your in countries that are less prone to have dry cleaners on every corner.

I am looking at this one

I like it for the fact that you can store it in the overhead bin while flying, One other way to carry suits would be have them in a proper suiter but then you would have two pieces to check in, One suiter and one bag for other stuff...
It definitely is a bitch carrying all your paraphernalia while slaying poon all around the world.

I second this, my dad swears by em.
Alternatively, your best bet is to wear your suit on the plane... assuming you're only bringing one.

If you need to get out wrinkles in a pinch also hang up your suit as you take a hot shower the steam will get out most of the wrinkles.... also the suit hanging up and the shower running a little longer for better results

The overall best way to preserve the suit when travelling is actually to wear it. It is however not always the practical solution.

Yeah if I go back to South America I don't think I'd pack a suit.
1. It's way overkill. The average guy has style that comes out of Walmart or Target.
2. It's a way to attract the bad kind of attention on the street (muggings and what not). If you're the only young guy in the city wearing a suit on a night, you're marking yourself.
I think it's useful if you're doing high-class society type of parties in Sao Paulo. A nice blazer should be more than enough.
Maybe Mixx can check it here and say if he suits up in colombia or not.
