Setting up businesses a broad while gaming... (Brazil, Czech Republic, etc.)

I'm pretty sure this has been talked about here before. How people many here have actually thought about setting up shop in the countries they visit? Say Rio or Pargue for example? And what kind of due diligence is involved?

My brain works this way on autopilot and the next trip to the DR will involve a payday but each place is different so what do you have in mind?

Good luck with that.
Most countries make it very hard to set up a legit business.
Like i think somebody on this board said if you wanted to start a legit and legal business in Brazil, you needed 50-100k + be able to employ 5 brazilians with full benefits.
Black market and grey market stuff runs you into problems with more than just the law as well.

I'll be definitely looking for opportunities to make some cash on my upcoming SE Asia trip, I've had ideas before when travelling but never went through with them. This time will be working on some online projects and other stuff.

I think in Brazil businesses have to deal with 20 odd taxes.
Must take up a lot of time!

You cant set up a business in a country where you are going to visit.
You need to have strong local connections that will help you out to set up your business. How are you going to move around during the opening process of your business? Who is going to take you and show you around? if you are thinking to hire just anybody from couchsurfing, forget it. You need to be in touch with people who are already running businesses, these people tend to be the best people to show you around, most of people dont understand a damn thing about business, they will tell you ''yeah this will give you money, open this'' and soon as you open, boom, business failed.
You cant just think your business idea will work in a country where you never lived. How can you plan to open a business in a country where you dont know much of its reality? You need to move to the country first, make local contacts, study the market and after you feel comfortable with the market needs, you go for the business.
Also, put in mind that Brazil is a very ''hustling society'', be careful with who you are going to trust there.

That's the whole purpose of this thread little brother. I'm asking about the challenges. I really talking to guys who frequent the same countries.
Especially ones with many American tourist or emerging economies, etc.

Why not an online business? Nobody will bug you if it's not obvious.

The key to a business, any business, is to have a competitive advantage. I think Jack Welch said that.
So think what you can do better than the locals. You think you're better than the Brasilians on their own home turf? Good luck then.
