The problem is that when they're 22-26, many girls my age openly acknowledge their ambivalence towards having children. So, even if you make this stuff public, I don't know how much it will change their attitudes.
It's only once they feel the clock ticking and family pressure kicks in that they realize how much they actually want to have children. By then it's too late.
Exactly. The problem is there is no society wide "rude awakening." Some spinster finding out she's barren has no influence on a woman in her prime. Women 25 and below are the belle of the ball, they feel untouchable, and little can convince them otherwise. Especially as the media and even their mothers and grandmothers, wistfully imagining the alphas of their youth they never got to ride, relentlessly tells them so. Articles like these don't really indicate any change.
You're right though about the ambivalence towards children, I hadn't thought of that and it's definitely true. I wonder if there's a survey out there asking women if they want children with answers by age and relationship status.
By the way, that 20% per month figure has certain assumptions built in. The 20% is a function of how often the woman has unprotected sex - if you bang her a lot more than the average in that sample, or your sperm is more potent for one reason or another, then the 20% figure will be higher.
