I been doing art all of my life. I keep reading that artists get lots of play from being themselves, yet this hasn't been the case for me. I can draw or sculpt people and manage to get likenesses. And was doing graphic art professionally for 2 years. Right now I'm doing game art, rather than playing games. I essentially model and texture characters in 3d. I used to do clay sculpture, but its expensive and you have to worry about gravity and under wires. I'm very passionate about digital sculpture since you can use any material and don't always have to sculpt both sides.
The problem is how to mention this stuff without bragging, getting overly fixated on it. I know I need to avoid specifics or using terminology since it flys over most people's head and comes off nerdy. Should I undersell my ability and draw stick figures if asked to demonstrate?
At some point I will have to spend more time with caricatures , but those could get drinks spilled in my face. You exaggerate the defining parts of the face, and it becomes silly looking.

Its not enough to just be an artist. Just like its not enough to just be an interesting person. Its often not enough just being good looking. Its how you carry yourself, how you dress, how you speak. You could be the best artist in the world but if you carry yourself like a pussy, girls won't respect you.
On the other hand, you could be a shitty artist, but if you walk around believing that you are the baddest artist in the world, girls will be curious. Do you dress like a badass artist would dress? Do you talk like a badass artist would talk?
If you really are a great artist, then you are more unique and more "deep" then most other people. People need to see this and feel this when they are around you. You are worried about what other people think, you should'nt give a fuck what people think. You are an artist. You point out things that others can't see. You need to carry yourself and represent yourself like a true artist who doesn't give a fuck! Great artists consider themselves above other people. That attitude will help you.

You should consider the tattoo industry as a career path. Those guys get hot tail coming in and out all day long. Easy to game them.

@mixx- outdoor game is a bit out for now, until I upgrade my laptop to a tablet pc. My current monster needs to be plugged in. Hopefully this type of game works well in Panera Bread and Starbucks. From the Day Bang book, Roosh said that after the close you should leave. This could be quite problematic though if I'm set up. I guess I could reframe it as looking for potential models victims for figurative art. The nudes I had to work with in college were usually ugly.
@giovonny- I never said I was great just better than average. I aspire to be great though. And I went to school for it. Animation. Although switching to sculpting based work recently since its less time intensive and more focused. I'm curious about the look that artist should have. There wasn't one in college. As for self beliefs been working on that a lot. I tend to be humble which isn't appealing.
@parlay44- I can't stand tattoos, but I really admire the artist. They were some of the best in class when I was in college. I'm not sure how I would translate over to it though. Would be funny seeing a non tatooed guy tattooing people.

I do have that emotion or state from time to time. I usually am really productive as a result of it. Than it eventually flows into a mediocre state which lasts for weeks. I was taught that humbleness is a virtue, but it seems its not in game or job applications. It would be cool to find a way to get into this state or the one I get into when I sculpt at will. When I sculpt I tend to have this present state, where its all about the shape of the object and around it.
