3rd world scams and trusting girls abroad

Do you guys every worry about the situations you might be getting your self into by actively searching for women in poor, underdeveloped countries?

Obviously the worst case example would be like the movie hostel, but that is a strong over exaggeration and shouldn't even cross our minds.

But you have to think about the fact that when there are wealthy foreigners who are willing to follow women through unknown cities in the hopes of getting laid and wonder whether desperate criminals are taking advantage of this.

I don't have any first hand experience, but I have read about cities in EE where girls will approach and flirt with you in the hopes of bringing you to their "favourite" bar. After having drinks with your new friend you are presented an astronomical bill and forced to pay

I have also heard (in a thread on here I think) of a disturbing story where the girl will sleep with the gringo, leave, and show up a couple hours later with a cop accusing you of rape and expecting a bribe for themselves and the girl.

Now obviously there are good and bad people everywhere, but being put in that situation would be far scarier in the Ukraine or Russia for example than it would back home or even in western europe.

EE isn't exactly that poor though (relatively speaking). It's like anything, if you keep your wits about you, you should be fine. If you've got game you can tell when a girl likes you and when she's gaming you. If you run into a situation where it seems too good to be true (like the EE bar scam), then it probably is too good to be true.

G,
I just read your report on the Latvian bar scam. Thanks for the great write-up, and sorry you got hustled. There are a couple of typos. One is a mix-up on the exchange rate, which is actually about $2 US = 1 Lat, instead of 1 Lat = .5 USD. So if the bill was, say, 200 Lats, that would be about $400, not $100. So in your next paragraph you could very well say that you got "quadruply hustled" instead of "doubly hustled"

But you lived to tell the tale... and that's the important part!

It's good to be a little careful and not too trusting in third world countris- not just with women, but in general.

I've been on a lot of dates in foreign countries, and they have always been happy to have me lead the way. That's how it's supposed to be with women anyway. If a girl in a 3rd world country ever insisted we "had" to go somewhere, I would be very suspicious.

Other key precautions:

- if you're going out for a date, don't have valuable back in your apartment/hotel in the open. I haven't been robbed, but I know other travelers have been robbed.

- Don't leave your drink unattended or drink something that you haven't seen.

- If the girl approaches you, be suspicious. It's not normal for girls to do the approaching in general, and even less so in traditional cultures.

Common sense rules. It's not rocket science.

G, I read your data sheet on Riga and it was one of the 2nd hand experiences I had heard.(apparently Budapest and Istanbul are really bad for that scam too)

That scam doesn't bother me as much, because once you know about it you know what to look for.

I just think I would have to be really comfortable with a chick before I go back to her place in a foreign country where english isn't native.

I had girls approach me with that particular scam. But in my head I was "wtf, I always need to work for my lays, all of a sudden these 2 hot girls think I'm Brad Pitt? something isn't right".

However G's description in amusing, as in his case it seems he is actually used to girls approaching him so why think this one was any different LOL

Anyway no one is immune to gullibility, and it will get you not only in "3rd world countries". Most dangerous place to be scammed is the internet - and I'm not talking about the "free viagra" commercials, I'm talking about the "I'll skyrocket your game in 30 days or less, limited time offer of $2999 ends tonight! As seen on VH1!"

I'm not sure about common sense. In these countries, it's much easier to get laid (hence why most of us go there).

Being foreign immediately raises celebrity status so women will approach where they don't normally do.
Cultures are different so what may be seen as common sense in America won't be so in another country.

I think the key might be to constantly underplay one's value and underdress (I know G aka Mr Custom Suit may not agree with this one LOL)
For the gringos, it might be difficult as globally gringos are associated with having money.
For others, perhaps even say that you are from a poor country and you are visiting on refugee status. The poorer you can make the country out to be, the better.

That's how I would play it.

I'm always mindful that the girl I've just picked up might not have the best intentions and could be planning to scam, rob or rip me off in someway but if you keep that in mind you can probably get out before anything too bad happens.

I seems if you day game in reputable places ( cafe's, libraries) eves in high culture events ( ballet, classical music) you will be WAY less likely to run into this if YOU do the approaching. My guess is your odds of running into a real predator ( the drugging and overbilling conspiracy are really pretty hard core, premeditated criminality behaviors; petty theft is a little more impulsive) are very low in these settings.

I'm not into barfly girls anyway, I'm not a barfly myself.

It happend to us in Budapest a few years ago. Fortunately, we had a look at the menue with the astronomical prices before ordering anything. We left immediately. The bouncer was looking pretty angry, there was some cursing, but no further complications. We were three tall guys. If you are on your own, the situation is much more intimidating.
