Although I can certainly believe Syrian migrants have been raping and assaulting innocent Swedish women, based on how this case is presented, I call bullshit.

The "victim" sounds more like the typical female "I am so irresistable all bad boys want to rape me" bragging, I think she got the hots for a bad boy with the media calling it "rape" after the fact.

I could be wrong but that's what my gut tells me.

There's an article today in one left-leaning publication or another about how women can avoid creeps feeling them up in their sleep on airplanes. The universal response in comments is "duuuuuh, I shouldn't have to think about this, just teach gropers that it's wrong to do it".

Some people are just self-obsessed enough that it's never occurred to them that a subset of people might genuinely gives zero fucks about what they think, how they feel, or even if they live or die. It only takes one.

There's that, and I'm sure some people are like that, but I think this is something else.

Some people are simply bafflingly naive, to the point of being completely dysfunctional when their native environment shifts - here, the bland sameyness of comfortable Scandinavian homogeneity. There's even a Danish word that comes close to capturing the problem: "janteloven".

We've all seen a few stories in our lives about conflict-averse suburban American girls who end up dead because they don't realize that they need to run, call the police, kick, scratch, scream. For the first time in her life, she's had an encounter with someone who doesn't care if she calls them out on social media and isn't afraid of her dad's lawyer. +1 Some of us were liberals when we were younger. I was.

But then I experienced the real world and worked with shitheads that harass and prey on naive children. Of course some people never grow up and eventually they realize some people have lived shit lives so bad they're more than happy to drag you down. You can call them out on social media or threaten them with a lawsuit but they don't care.
