Masturbation: The Opiate of Motivation

"And then, as if there wasn't enough irony here, all they end up doing is putting the unworthy pussy back on the pedestal again, delaying their own gratification just to chase sub-standard chicks while using moralism to justify it. They'll say "I gotta go out and hunt, man! Gotta stay hungry! Gotta get at these women, that's what real men do! Not jerking is the right thing!", all the while his extra-horny ass ends up out there chasing and blowing up the egos of pudgy 5s and 6s at a club." -Athlone

This is why its not for everyone. I have issues pursuing even the hottest of girls and its because of a general "meh" feeling. I just want "horny" and am not pursuing "extra horny" aka super needy.

I don't approach pudgy girls period, as they don't even turn me on even when I've been withholding the wanking. Perhaps some guys like the "thrill of the chase" or the challenge of picking up an attractive girl, but for me, if my dick isn't aching to rail the shit out of her I just don't care very much. I'd rather stand around, drink some good beers and talk to my friends.

This discussion about morals is completely off-base IMO. The author of the blog and what I advocate as a personal matter is purely PRACTICAL. I don't feel guilty about masturbating one bit so it's not about right and wrong for me. Its willpower. That's all it is.

Withholding instant gratification for a more fulfilling end result. If that's not useful willpower then I need to find another dictionary.

To me its akin to not ordering delivery pizza everyday. Delivery pizza is so convenient and delicious but most people abstain from eating low-nutrition, high fat food on a daily basis, because this behavior would lead to poor aesthetics/health. Its practical willpower pure and simple.

Now I understand that this isn't perfect analogy because although almost everyone can agree that withholding from eating unhealthy food every day has a real positive end result, not everybody will get the same result from withholding masturbation (or at least throttling down). I don't doubt at all that for some of you it makes you edgy or hit on fatties, but for me it gives me the nudge I need to even talk to hot girls.

P.S. I need to learn to quote specific subject matter [Image: tongue.gif]

No way -- I was jerking off much more than I was scoring quality ass.

This doesn't answer my question.
Someone who starts injecting heroin once a week to get rid of alcohol dependency indeed changed one fix with another. It doesn't matter how much more you were doing things. If you were doing one thing to achieve the state, and replaced it with another to achieve the same state, you're just replaced one fix with another.

I understand your point, but the reason I don't agree is because the problem with masturbation (for me) was that is was a daily event whereas getting laid was much less frequently, say weekly. I found that by replacing masturbation with sex I achieved the benefits highlighted in my earlier comment - energy, positivity, etc.
Whether getting laid once a week or yanking it once a week, I achieve the same effect, less ejaculation which equals an overall healthier feeling.

Jack off as much as you are comfortable with. Such a simple act is not worth anywhere near the level of emotional turmoil I am seeing some guys put themselves through. This to me just shows that Americans have a fascination with self-flagellation, beating themselves up over nothing.

Athlone, if the argument is that less frequent masturbation achieves positive health effects, then the statement above, at least to me, is akin to saying "eat as much cake and ice cream as you want, enjoy yourself and stop putting yourself through such torture."
If guys aren't jerking off because they believe it ruins their sense of morals, then I totally agree with you and OldNem. But if someone limits their jerking off because at the end of the day they feel mentally sharper and physically better (more energy, etc), then I don't think there is anything wrong with limiting masturbation.
For the record, I'm not part of that soft beta movement that dictates that masturbation is bad. I just know that when I cut back, I felt a hell of a lot better.

Are you getting laid daily as well? If not, maybe you just were jerking off more than it was necessary for your body?

This is exactly what I talked above.
You see it as an issue, and I see it as not paying $10,000 for a BigMac worthy $5.
The current problem with female attitude in the USA was largely created by the guys who were super-horny and pushed the girl's value through the roof.
Anything else is purely subjective.

Hey, porn taught me how to fuck, if it wasn't for porn my first time would've been confusing as all hell. Thanks broadband and the ability to stream high def videos!

Also, easy fix, watch porn while you fuck, its two fold kinky
