We are programmed to desire sex but could be programmed to desire mystical experiences or to perform selfless acts instead.
We are programmed via biology to desire sex. No illuminaughties required.
The other thing that confuses me about viewpoints here is that this is presumably a hangout for guys who want to get laid more. So we really have to be clear and consistent about how we view sex because there is this vacillating between bragging about notches and calling for Handmaid's Tale.
What bothers me the most about the gynocentric perspective on "sex-positivity" is that it's very much a one-sided affair. Women are entitled to have unfettered sexuality but male sexuality is increasingly pathologized and regimented down to a narrow tightrope-walk. So women are entitled to enjoy Aquaman or Magic Mike for the beefcake while simultaneously crying foul that we don't like Captain America because Brie Larson has no ass or the new Lara Croft because she has no boobs. Women can be total sluts while simultaneously celebrating the Gilette ad that suggests men should actively stop other men from approaching women. Netflix is enforcing absurd 5-second eye-contact rules. That dynamic is all about exerting
power, not fairness.
At the same time, women's entitlement mentality makes them feel they should be able to go through 15-20 years of carousel riding and settle down with a sperm donor to fertilize their last viable egg, then divorce-rape down the line. They don't want to accept that their bargaining position degrades with age and the increasing risk-factors for marriage. They treat these as faux social-justice issues. The social justice flag is a tool to exert
power. They feel entitled to exclude men from sex for superficial reasons while simultaneously shaming men for doing the same. Again...a
power issue.
In a free society the social contract requires the compliance both parties. If one end is getting too raw of a deal they're not going to play along anymore and outside of forcing men into arranged marraiges no amount of complaining will change that.
