I don't know about other states, but with NY you cannot collect unemployment from outside of the country. The system will block you. If you're away for more than two weeks you'll lose it. Maybe you can file again, but not from out of the country.

As far as coding boot camps, Arafat scarf has a pretty accurate assessment.
I went to coding boot camp without much prior knowledge beyond code academy, and while I learned a lot I don't feel job ready. Although I'm not sure programming really suits me, I'm still trying to learn but more and more I feel like there be easier ways to make decent money that I'm better cut out for.

If you do want to go for it, i would focus on a specific skill and try to get some basic skills and get a starter job or projects... Could be a language like Java, Python, C#. Maybe a web framework... Best place to learn is on-the-job.

Beware that not everyone is cut out for coding... In some ways you can compare it with being a writer, everyone can learn to string words together. However if you want to become good, you'll need to have some talent for it as well.

Yes he can and pretty easily if he can sale, and simply use subs to do what he hasn't figured out yet and learn along the way. It's all rather simple


@Chetthebaker. How would they know? He calls in once a week, just call from a VoIP phone with a us number if that's how they check. Usually it's an automated system anyway.

How do they know that you are away for more than 2 weeks? Also, how do they know that you are overseas?

Does anyone know how the tech industry and startups are in Thailand and Vietnam? I just read some articlees about their economy improving a lot. I've got some coding skills from college classes but not much real world experience.

A middle way between sales and coding is SE/SA. Top Solution Engineers/Architects make money comparable to sales without some of the pressure. Sales job where you can transition to other roles is where it's at.

I would like to eventually attend a bootcamp, but a more selective and prestigious one such as FullStack that can guarantee six figure employment. Budget is obviously the number one concern, second being learning code on my own. I'd learn through codeacademy.com, dedicate 10 hours a day, fuck girls on the weekends. Finances right now:

$10k liquid
$5k stocks (being liquidated)
$3-4k scrap gold (being liquidated)
Company owes me about $15k in wages and commissions.
Unemployment, if I qualify, could give me $2400/mo for 13 weeks.
Paid off car which I'm not willing to sell due to sentimental reasons/safety net if I become homeless.

End goal would be a software development/sales engineering/technical sales/IT consultant role where my job skills are in high demand.

I'm leaning towards the third option, but would love to hear experiences of living in Thailand, budget, whether I can supplement with English teaching, etc. I'm pissed that I didn't save enough, but now is the time to make a move. Would also love to hear IT professionals guide me towards the right certifications (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) that could lead me to a technical sales position in the future.

How feasible is it to live 3-12 months in Thailand and learn enough IT to become competitive in the market? Can I live on $1k monthly? The goal is to become competent at an IT job, not party/fuck girls.
