Belgrade vs. Sofia

Belgrade vs. Sofia

Hey guys,

Looking for a new destination to hang out for a few months.

Been in Ukraine for about one year, just want to try something new.

I'm a white, slavic dude from North America in my 20's.

I've narrowed it down to Sofia and Belgrade.

Both appear to be very close in cost of living, though Sofia seems to offer cheaper, cooler AirBnB's. Price is important to me as I'm trying to build up cash.

Nightlife in Belgrade looks like there's more over all, but it appears that there's more of a strict focus on the House and Techno in Sofia instead of Belgrade.

Serbian girls appear to be better, and easier. Both look fun though. Being in Ukraine, I'm sure either would be a bit easier.

I'm leaning towards Sofia because it seems a bit more exotic and weird.

I hear the food is great in both, and I'm not picky.

Thoughts?

Personally would recommend Belgrade. The girls are on a different planet compared to Sofia, although slightly more difficult to bang. Serbian chicks define the "lady in the street, freak in the sheets".

I'd say nightlife is pretty even as Belgrade is crazy but a lot of it is Balkan music orientated whereas Sofia has a higher proportion of international music clubs.

Additional benefit of Belgrade is you're within 6 hours from a lot of other European capitals (Zagreb, Sarajevo, Budapest, Bratislava, Ljubljana) where you can disappear for a weekend and that are pretty good for gaming (exclude Sarajevo from the gaming part).

I've heard Sofia is the most boring city its size in the region

I lived in both for 3 months each. First off, Belgrade feels smaller and more closed in, making it easy to game. Yes, the quality is top tier, maybe the best in the world. I was living downtown and upon first landing there I though there was some kind of womans parade in the streets. Turns out, that's just the male/female ratio which is a bit staggering. I had the best steak of my entire life at some fancy spot downtown. Next time I will hit Novisad and Nis.

Sofia is bigger and just feels more vast. There are less tight pockets of people walking but it can be found. I lived near a mall and just slayed like never before with constant approaches. Best pizza I ever had was a place called Forno. I did quite a bit more travel throughout Bulgaria with seaside spots Bourgas/Varna. Overall, I had more luck in Bulg but this could have been due to making friends with my airbnb host who introduced me to girls in his living room parties.

Either way, you will have a great time without a doubt. Both have super friendly people who will try and make you a Serb/Bulg too. This usually means shots of Rakia/Ouza which is their homemade moonshine. I have a theory that the larger the country is, the more pride they have. People will go out of their way to make sure you have a great time

I have lived in Kiev and spent some time in Belgrade and Novi Sad. Belgrade and Kiev are the two places where the talent is the highest I have seen anywhere in the world. I think Serbians are hotter than Ukrainians because I like women who have curves. Also, their English proficiency is excellent. You can go all out American on them and they understand everything (sarcasm, wit, innuendos, etc.)

However, don't expect gaming in Serbia to easier. I actually found it to be harder than Ukraine. Serbian girls have a much higher minimum looks threshold than Ukrainian girls as Serb dudes are tall, fit, alpha and generally much better looking than Ukrainian men. They are also proud as well but not in a stuck up way or anything like that.

Anyways, I would also vouch for Belgrade. Love this city and country. Better food, hotter women (imo), and better culture for sure. It's hard to believe Serbs are considered slavic as they are so different culturally (for the better imo) than Ukrainians. Best of luck and drop a datasheet if you can.

Been to both cities on short visits but I'd choose Belgrade too.

Belgrade has very hot chicks, surprisingly good food, great location in the Balkans, can easily go to Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, Hungary etc Both times I went to Belgrade I did so by train from Budapest, Hungary. Local dudes can be tough but if you're respectful you can make lots of friends.

Sofia doesn't really have much going on, the girls can still be hot but not as hot as Serbians, the city used to be pretty run down, maybe now it's better. It felt very commie. From Sofia you can travel to the Black Sea which is good fun in summer, I went to Varna for a few days and I liked it. If I remember correctly Bulgarian food resembled Turkish food a lot and they also drank similar coffee. I wasn't very impressed with Sofia.

Banging wise I'd choose Belgrade, I didn't bang but the girls were really hot, I kinda feel that Belgrade will be harder than Sofia so for quality Belgrade, for quantity maybe Sofia.

Been to both - the poster above was spot on - Sofia is very spread out and not very walkable, Belgrade is more centralized with a main street area that has stores and restaurants in it. I used to go and enjoy walking there just to get out of the house but it felt small quick. But in Sofia there really wasnt a centralized place to go walk and kill an afternoon. Bulgaria has a little more of a wild west feel to it while Belgrade has more of a cookie cutter EE capital city feel. I think Belgrade really pops off during the summer though so if you are going to be there in the summer I'd keep that in mind.
