I just finished watching Vertigo, widely considered the best film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Some consider it the greatest film of all time. The interactions between men and women play a large role in Hitchcock's movies, and he died before political correctness took over Hollywood.

What do you all think are the lessons he was trying to teach in Vertigo? What about his other films? What are some other great Hitchcock films?

Hitchcock was married to one woman his whole life and had only one child.

Vertigo is fantastic, but my favorite Hitchcock of all time is Rear Window.

I am also a big Hitchcock fan. I also prefer "Rear Window" to "Vertigo" for the sheer drama, but then again I am a big Jimmy Stewart fan. Do not ignore his early works. I watched "The 39 Steps" last year, the best of his many British films before he hit Hollywood. It is a great international intrigue movie mystery.

Be sure to watch the film "Hitchcock" where Anthony Hopkins plays Alfred Hitchcock and Helen Mirren plays his wife. The film surrounds the time period just before he decided to direct "Psycho," where most critics thought that his best days as a director were behind him and that he was absurd for making such a pedestrian film.

My favorite scene in the movie: Hitchcock secretly waiting and watching the reaction of the audience during the "Psycho" shower scene:

I also like the way that he always managed to obtain the most striking blonde actresses of the day for his films.

I gotta finish all the Hitchcock movies.
My personal favorites are North by Northwest and To Catch a Thief.
I think hollywood should just remake Hitchcock movies instead of putting out stupid indie movies that don't make any money.

The birds was the first “scary movie” I remember seeing as a kid watched it again as a teenager and thought Hitchcock was lame it wasn’t until I was in my mid 20s that I found vertigo and rear window and strangers on a train. All fantastic films.

Watched it again recently-- Rear Window is still a masterpiece.

There isn't a single woman like Grace Kelly in Hollywood anymore. It's profoundly depressing.
