Best U.S. city for players and outdoor enthusiasts

Early 20s dude, want to move to a city that's great for hooking up but also has hiking, mountains, and other outdoor activities nearby.

I hear NYC, Chicago, Miami are the best for social life and women but I hate that they're all flat and there's not many outdoorsy things to do nearby.

What has the best balance of both? No place outdoorsy really seems that great to me.

San Diego has a horrible M:F ratio.
Denver, Portland, Seattle, SLC, Orange County don't get great reviews here.
LA is very difficult without status.
Grew up in the Bay Area and want to move somewhere else.

Anyone think they found the perfect balance? Maybe a mid-sized city not as well known or does anyone disagree that one of the cities I listed is good?

If you can stomach Las Vegas, it may be a good option (you'll probably tire of the strip but if you work in the industry you'll likely clean up) and there are mountains/rivers and even SoCal is pretty close.

Austin Texas? I've never been but it may be ok, I know there is some lake out there?

I didn't explore around too much, but Nashville seemed like it may have some outdoor activities? The Southern culture may get to you though if you are from the bay area. I was only there for a short time and I felt something different. Seems like it would be a good place to grow up around that time.

I'd still do San Diego if I were you. Live in Pacific Beach. If you are pretty sociable, you should be able to clean up day drinking if that's congruent to your lifestyle. Outdoor activities. Awesome food and weather. If you work out and like to drink alot, you'll get laid tons.

LA can be pretty brutal in your 20s if you are young, the ages do skew older.

I've heard things about Boulder and Colorado Springs as well as Flagstaff, Arizona. Monterey, California was pretty nice when I lived there but it's pricy. You might also try a college town located in a scenic area with things to do like Fayetteville, Arkansas and/or a town with a ski resort like Asheville, North Carolina (the mountains that are good for skiing in winter are good for hiking in spring). It's the US we are talking about so you will encounter obesity and nonsense no matter where you go and there will likely not be many runway models in naturally beautiful places because those women tend to move to the cities to ride the carousel and pursue their careers but you should be able to tune a lot of it out if you are spending most of your free time river rafting or something and you should be able to find at least a few bearable local women you can go bike riding or backpacking with.

Good point, Scottsdale may be great too, with ASU right there and tons of cougars waiting to pounce on young 20 year olds. Isla Vista in Santa Barbara may be money too, but to me I'd be bored living there.

Check out ski towns, maybe SLC?

Atlanta has a pretty good balance but the black pill crowd is convinced it sucks. River, lake, trails, Appalachian trail about 1.5 hours away. Ocean about 5./
