Depending on what time of the year and what lifestyle you want makes a big difference. South (I lived in Floripa for some months) is great; you have the European influence, however more spread out and farther from the states (if you travel). Also it's cold and rainy part of year. NE where I am now (Fortaleza) is warm year round. Portuguese is definitely a must in all places.

I'm in Fortaleza for a couple more months, so feel free to PM me to meet up. Been living here for 3 month periods for some time. Mostly splitting with Medellin.

For example, I enjoy the beach. In Fortaleza, much like Floripa, you have various beaches and beach clubs, with live music periodically weekly. Most of nightlife is concentrated in Dragon do Mar, and as long as one stays by the water, it's a nice lifestyle. And more well to do folk are at the beach clubs (Orbita Blue, Guarderia, etc.) on weekends.

I've also lived in Natal and Joao Pessoa which IMO are more attractive cities, but there is a lot more going on in Fortaleza which gives more intellectual stimulation for growth and things to do.

Would love to hear more about all three of these cities if you care to share, specifically regarding violence and the sex tourism vibe in Fortaleza.

As the general consensus I've read online and when talking with a few friends in Brazil is that the NE is generally a shithole that's insanely dangerous.

I'm moving back to Floripa, having lived there from 2014-2016.. My biz is opening an office in one of the corporate parks on SC-401. I imagine things have changed a lot since 2016.

I'll be living in Trinidade/Itacorubi. Any local word?

Floripa rocks if you have a good bankroll.
