My New Literary Website: Terror House Magazine

Hi everyone,

I ordinarily don't shill my work on RVF, but I've created a new website a lot of you might be interested in: Terror House Magazine. It's a website focused on publishing outsider literature: short stories, poems, literary nonfiction, art, analysis, and more. You can visit it here:

https://terrorhousemag.com/

I'm looking to publish the kinds of works that both mainstream publishing and the cliquish, SJW "alt-lit" community won't touch. My ultimate goal is to expand Terror House into a publishing company. I've written a post explaining why I created Terror House here:

https://terrorhousemag.com/welcome-terro...-magazine/

If you're a writer, I'm interested in publishing your work. Check out our submission guidelines below, and you can also win a $10 cash prize from us if we judge your submission to be the best of the month:

https://terrorhousemag.com/submissions/
https://terrorhousemag.com/best-month-contest/

Finally, we're also on Twitter and YouTube:

https://twitter.com/terrorhousemag
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp1qPn4...2DX5YmK5w/

I'm hoping to build the Terror House brand into a powerhouse in independent publishing. Let me know what you think of the site.

I'm a bit of an internet shut-in, so please post a link to anything particularly interesting that gets published.

>implying that everything we post isn't interesting

Your wish is my command. Our big gets for the past couple weeks include this hilarious short story about erectile dysfunction, "Standing Arrow Straight":

https://terrorhousemag.com/standing-arrow-straight/

Jay Dyer submitted a Southern Gothic short story he wrote years ago:

https://terrorhousemag.com/revival-sulphur-well/

Finally, Sean Kilpatrick, a big name in the lit scene (he's written for Vice etc.), sent us a hilarious review of The Pisces, an awful novel by feminist Melissa Broder. It's about a middle-aged woman who falls in love with a merman. I'm serious:

https://terrorhousemag.com/pisces-melissa-broder/

Traffic to the site is growing exponentially, as are the numbers of submissions we're getting: it's starting to cut into my work time. We may have to seek investment to expand the company much sooner than I thought we'd have to. If you like what we're doing, consider donating to help fund this expansion:

OK. I got some cash I could throw around. What kind of investment is necessary? What type of specs can I see?

Do I get voting rights if my investment is big enough?

This would be right up my alley.

https://terrorhousemag.com/morning-tea/

Matt,

First, let me say that I hope this endeavor brings great success to all involved. Truly, I wish you the best of luck.

With that said, I am interested to know if this particular piece is a good example of the quality of writing that you're looking for?

We accept a wide variety of writing styles. You can read our requirements here: https://terrorhousemag.com/submissions/

We have strict requirements---we only accept about half of what is submitted to us---but if your work isn't up to speed, we'll give you advice on how to improve it.
