As Promised Kharkiv Ukraine 3 months (Spring is Here!)

Kharkiv datasheet Winter - Spring 2018

Brief description of my appearance. 5'11" I'm Blonde, Blue eyed, tatted with a single full arm sleeve. Mid 30's location independent programmer. MIT education which scores some points here due to the technology focused career tracks many young people take. My Russian is decent as well.

My results have been good but not like I had in 2013 - 2015. Maybe because I've become less socially gregarious due to work.

I'm still new to the forum, so I may not cover everything.
I also am well connected legally in Ukraine so PM if you want to learn how to navigate the system for business.

I've spent the past 3 months in Kharkiv in total for business, stayed
in many different locations around the city center between hotels
and short-term apartment rentals, but definitely spent a lot of
time going out. Rarely made food at home, so I got a huge dose of
the restaurant scene.

Kharkiv is a great mix of local with a little international flair
thrown in for color. It's a university city with some good
nightlife, even if it's not as busy as a larger city like Kiev.
People are friendly and are glad to help, so long as you aren't
either Turkish or Middle-eastern – The city appears overrun by
them at clubs and bars. Being American, that wasn't a problem at
all, and women were always intrigued by my presence in the city.
It provided plenty of opportunities to play a new role every time
you met a woman at a bar or club.

Where to Stay:

Definitely keep to the city center if you are not savvy in Russian otherwise the outskirts are gold mines.
Since Kharkiv can spread very quickly once you get away from the core. There are 3 metro lines
that are pretty reliable and only cost 4 UAH per ride - (maybe 10
cents at the time of this writing). but there's also cheap taxis,
Uber, and an app called OnTaxi. A typical ride at the time of
this writing is about $1.50-2.00

There are many hotel options, but I'd stick to finding a
short-term apartment rental through Dobovo.com if here for
anything longer than a few days. The prices tend to be about
comparable, but logistics for scoring are much better and you
will be more comfortable overall. As a westerner, it took me time
to get over how bad the interior design of apartments are
wherever you stay - something about old soviet interiors.

Best neighborhoods to look for a place are near Metro Pushkinska,
Arkhitektora Beketova, or Universytet. They offer easiest access
to both nighttime restaurants / bars, and easy ways to hail down
a taxi to get to nightclubs.

Daygame:

I only operated a little daygame while in Kharkiv, but there are
many opportunities to play in the city. The main streets downtown
are always packed with solo travellers, and single women often
are busy on their way. Playing lost traveller game was always a
good way to play indirect game. My go-to was asking help to find
a Driver's License office or other official building. Cafe
baristas and waitresses are also good targets for day game - they
will let you down easy if nothing comes of it.

Areas around major metro stops in city center are always ripe
with naturals - Major streets Pushkinska, Sumska and Yaroslava
Mudrogo are all good places to check out. They are close to the
Universities and government office buildings. Plus there are many
cafes and cheap places to eat.

If you want to go with shopping malls, the two best in the city
to seek out are French Boulevard and Dafi / Karavan. French
Boulevard has a certain upscale quality to it, and is fairly
close to city center. Dafi / Karavan are two separate malls
side-by-side, and offer lots of space to operate. There is a
third small mall - Ave Plaza - which is in downtown, but it
doesn't provide much to work with for pickup game.

Nightclubs:

Bolero - This place tends to have great logistics, with good DJs,
Saturday night entertainment shows, multiple bar areas, and a
balcony-area that is great for isolating women to have a real
conversation. It is definitely an older crowd, attracting 30-45
year old women and lots of middle-aged Turkish guys playing
sponsorship game. It has a bad reputation with locals as a place
for women who like to sleep around or milk wealthy foreigners,
but it can still be a good spot.

Biggest issues are that it is really just a 2 night per week
spot. Come anytime other than Friday or Saturday night, and
you'll be walking into a big empty club. It's also isolated from
the city center, so don't head out there without some real
planning.

DO NOT tell women you are visiting for a short stay. It marks you as a sex-tourist.
If you lock in a girl in general and you are bound to have issues if she suspects you're a bullshitter.

Radmyr - Probably the best spot for talent and logistics in
Kharkiv. Women come dressed to party, good bar areas to separate
when you want to talk, and the age range is a perfect 22-35. It's
also a little bit out of the way like Bolero, but it's got more
going on during the week and tends not to be overrun by older
guys. Locals come to have fun, and are not there just to pick up
wealthy guys. It's also the best chance to find women DTF.

Probably would offer the same warning about Radmyr as
Bolero...it's a known hangout for loose women.

Galaktika Club - Found this place later in my stay, but this is a
definite university student hangout. Plenty of 7's and 8's, and
its cheap enough that more locals will come. Logistics can be a
little weird - It's one giant room with a DJ stage in the middle
and a bar on the back-end. There's also tables everywhere that
make finding spots to isolate women without paying club
management fees a little tricky. The management will
nickel-and-dime you on everything, and tried to charge me and my
friend all kinds of deposits and cover charges everytime we went.
Really good for a Wednesday or Thursday night since it's easy to
get to from city center.

Art Club Koroba - Somewhere between a club, a restaurant, and a
bar, Koroba is a rock-themed place where cover-bands play on the
weekends and attracts huge crowds of University students and
younger people. You can easily find natural 7's and 8's here, and
they are often more talkative than at other clubs. Service tends
to suck if you try to order food at a table, and the bartenders
can be dicks. It's directly next to a metro station, so it's a
good place to arrange meetups with a date or just a bunch of
locals. It's also right in city center, so you can always bail if
the place isn't hopping.

Gastro-Pubs:

Lumber - One of the best gastro-pubs in the city, and a
consistently good choice for either a date spot or dinner out. A
solid cocktail menu, cool staff, good meat, and a great location
next to Universityt Metro in center city.

Yankee's - Another of the many gastro-pubs all over Kharkiv, but
this American-themed spot has good cocktails, good steaks, and a
good staff. This was a favorite spot for a little while, mostly
because there's a good bar area once you walk in the door.

Fabrika.space - Massive professional networking space in an old
factory, this restaurant / bar kind of acts as a multi-purpose
event space. They have IT-meetups and conferences on the second
floor, and co-working spaces on the third floor. Worth it if you
are trying to meet people to hire or network with, or you just
want to show a woman you're a professional who knows where to go.

Thatcher - Yet another British-themed spot with descent food and
good cocktails. Not convenient like Lumber or Yankee, but is
worth it if you find yourself in the neighborhood.

Bars:

Brilliant Bar - For a high-end date spot for drinks, there are
few places better. It's a glass-enclosed bar above a Georgian
restaurant, and it's entire decked out in crystal chandeliers.
There's a big bar to sit at, and lounge tables if you want more
privacy. Cocktail menu is also very strong. But it's hard to beat
the lighting, windows, and location for a high-end date. The
night I came, there really were no pick-up opportunities.

Benedicts - If you want to really geek out about your cocktails,
Benedicts is a good choice. Mostly a 30's to 40's crowd looking
to relax as a group. Logistics for picking up are not the best,
but you occassionally can find groups of women meeting up for a
couple drinks during the week. It's got a speakeasy vibe which
comes across as really hipster. Their cocktails also seem to cost
more than most other places for some reason.

Moskovich - Similar to Benedicts, this place really get's into
their cocktails. Logistics for running game are better than
Benedicts since it isn't as dark. Staff can sometimes be rude,
and I've walked out more than once because they wouldn't let me
sit at the bar for some made-up reason or another.

School Pub - Where you want to go when you miss talking english
and want to hang with expats. They have a strict “Only English”
policy, which makes it feel a little bit homey. The bar is
seriously limited on choices for drinks – 3 or 4 beers, and a
couple shelves of liquor - but it's worth putting up with for the
English side of it.

Biggest downside is, this is not a place to run game. This is
either a dude's hangout to drink beer, or a bunch of 5/6s that
want to be with their friends.

Old Xem - One of the few true bars in Kharkiv, and a good spot to
pop a seat on a stool and hang out. The place is dedicated to
Hemingway, and there's definitely the spirit to linger on and
enjoy for a while. Place will get packed, so finding a place to
sit means often hanging around for a little while.

Irish Pubs / Beer Joint:

Starhorod - A 24-hour Czech restaurant tucked into a residential
neighborhood, this place turns into an absolute dance hall late
at night. Logistics aren't great for picking up because everyone
arrives in groups and sticks to long tables, but it's a good spot
to bring a double-date or just a group wanting to have a good
time. People dressed in pig costumes, and lederhosen-clad
waitresses add to the entertainment value.

Irish Pub - in city center and true to its name, this is kind of
your classic irish pub to get a bite to eat and a couple pints of
beer. Lot's of middle-aged men make it their hang-out, and it
seems like theres a number of regulars who know the staff well.
Food is pretty consistent, so I made it a regular spot for
getting out and grabbing a bite for dinner.

Red Door Pub - Another craft-beer bar in city center. It's a
decent place to hang out with a group of people wanting to talk.

Heisenberg - This place is worth coming to just to say you've
experienced something like it. It's a Breaking-Bad themed craft
beer bar that makes you think you've just walked into an LSD
fueled hipster paradise. Strictly locals come, and they tend to
close early, but their beer selection is excellent if you are
into that.

Food / Restaurants:

This is easily the biggest downer about Kharkiv. After a while,
food just tends to start looking the same no matter where you go.
Also, AVOID SUSHI and FISH. No matter where you go, there is no
good places to find fresh fish. I almost got poisoned one night
ordering rank shrimp.

Chateau - when you really want to splurge on a date, take her to
this French restaurant. It might be the most expensive place in
Kharkiv, but the food is worth it.

Chekhov - splurge-worthy spot only to take a true LTR female.
Very romantic with good food.

Farsch - multiple-location gastro-pub chain that delivers
consistently good hamburgers at a fair price. Brought many first
or second dates to these places, and never felt uncomfortable.

Argentina Grill - a great choice for late-night eating and good
steaks. The place is set-up lounge style, so you can order a good
dinner and then stick around for hours smoking shisha and
drinking. They have a surprisingly good karaoke bar tucked in the
back which is open all night long. Prices are high for Kharkiv -
both for food and drinks - but kind of a perfect mix for evening
entertainment.

Forchino - a solid family Italian restaurant that consistently
delivered good food. Nice change of pace when you get fed up with
Ukranian food. Also makes for a casual date spot that won't break
the bank.

Puzata Hata - already mentioned on here as the perfect
shit-testing location to see if you caught a gold-digger, the
fast-food spot actually serves decent food if you are just hungry
and in the area.

Thanks, great datasheet: honest, objective, exhaustive and above all useful and of high added value info - what a great change from the worthless and ego-boosting alleged success stories of absolutely no added value that clutter up the Ukraine and Russia threads.

How is it there compared to Lviv? Any better or worse?

Lviv is for sure easier on the eyes when it comes to a city but I really think Kharkov has some of the best potential for Western travelers maybe Poltava as well could be a consideration.

Note: I was almost done with Ukraine after vetting out so many Instagram whores and Gold diggers in Kiev (I really hate Kiev). Kharkov has restored some faith.

Another add is there is no escaping western influence anywhere in Ukraine for the traditional man. Tattoos, pixie cuts and social media has infiltrated in a big way but it's still easy to find a nice sweet traditional girl.

Some online and night game plus I use social circles mostly, I'm very tight in the tech, art, food service, military and legal circles. Its really not hard to build a network of friends in a few days if you just go out and talk to people.

I really think it's key to get into social circles as soon as you hit the ground. Be reliable and set up meet ups as soon as you make a new friend.

Nothing really has beat my success joining a group for Karaoke which does not require any long-term skill development.
