Belgian man fined 3,000 euros for sexist remark

One facet of authoritarian, postmodern, cultural Marxist, identity politics is that one's group identity is paramount, which means that the authorities end up being forced to choose which groups are more "oppressed" or "protected" than other groups.

So, it appears that in Belgium, being a woman is considered more protected than being a male Muslim (if this guy was Muslim). If the Muslim community was to protest this to the EU, then I think it would put the EU and Belgian government in an awkward position, because it would be forcing them to publicly decide which group is more special, and lately the liberal establishment has been elevating Muslims above women.

In this case what probably happened is that the woman filed a complaint, at which point she would have been called in by her superior officer and asked "are you sure you want to pursue this" and when she said yes the question would be reiterated with that warning tone "are you really sure?"

And in this heady moment of righteousness she thought that the aggregate "rightness" of not only being factually correct but also a precious wammen meant that the system would back her 100%. And the system did, but there will be consequences down the line that will make her wish she'd kept her mouth shut.

What will likely happen is that the man, if he is indeed a muslim, will take the matter to court on appeal wherein it will quietly be resolved in his favour. The female officer will not be punished in the traditional sense but will be forced to spend a dozen hours in workplace training seminars on "understanding cultural differences" and her jacket will be marked with code for "do not promote".

This system exists as a kind of soft fascism that warns the rest to sniff the wind and tow the line. It may not be written anywhere "give the muslims a pass" but everyone knows the score and what this woman goes through in the weeks and years ahead will be a perpetual reminder to the rest.

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.
