Buying used military vehicles?

Buying used military vehicles?

Is it true that you don't pay road tax when you drive these vehicles? How much fuel can it cost you when you drive , lets say armored vehicle during weekends?

I just watched a Top Gear episode and i was fascinated when they were looking to buy used vehicles to destroy buildings. Imagine how many ways can you make money using these vehicles. Does anybody know where i can find accurate solid info on this subject [Image: icon_question.gif]

How many uses do you thing you can have when you own one of these tanks, helicopters etc? I'm open for suggestions and ideas
Here are some of my ideas:

One night stands in helicopters on places that are hardly accessible

Private business that destroys buildings fast, low cost and efficiently

Thanks

If the vehicle is over 8' wide it's not road legal. There's no reason in having an armored vehicle other than going on the watch list of the fed's.

HUMMWV's are getting phased out by the military. You can buy one reasonably cheap and make a good beach/offroad truck. The parts are cheap and easy to find. Our allies bought shit tons of them so parts will be available for ever.

They are also easy to work on. Nothing on them is confidential, so the tech manuals can be found or downloaded.

I thought about buying a soft skin hummer, painting it matte black and stripping the doors. Strap a couple surfboard on top and cruise the beach. Emech, what do you think?

Sounds good. Find a place to buy them cheap and resell. Then get one with an interior like this

I can see the orange shorts balled up all over the floor now

I've always had a fascination with Russian military equipment, having grown up next to a military base in my youth during the Cold War. Unfortunately the HUMMWV looks like a toy car compared to the Kamaz and Ural trucks of the Soviet Army of the 70s & 80s. Those were the meanest off-road military vehicles i've ever seen, being 6 x 6 (none of that pussy 4 x 4 which most "off-road" cars in US have) and having a ground clearance of 2+ feet (depending on the configuration). Sitting in one of those caused an instant boner.
Fortunately, a few of the older models are still for sale at a cheap price:

and here's a pic of a more recent one which I wish could be exported to USA for purchase: [Image: lynx_200mm_01.jpg]
