1500 doesnt seem too shabby for eastern europe. do you think I could do general management positions just on the premise of me having a Western European degree?

It's super shabby and I'll tell you why.

I can't only speak from my experience as a Canadian, but as a Westerner in 3rd world companies, I only experience minimal benefits from living in a place that is "less expensive."

First of all, there's a reason why people can afford to live on local salaries in 3rd world countries.

(1) It's surprisingly cheap to live in shoddy, communist era housing that has the interior decorating of a jail cell and soundproofing of thin sheet of paper.

If you want to live in a home that does look, feel and sound like hell, you can get very close to (or exceed) the housing costs you would paid back home, despite having a much higher salary back home for comparable work.

(2) Less of an issue if you are travelling from Eastern Europe to Western Europe, but for me, seeing family once a year is a major expense. When you can't see family regularly, when you do visit, you want to come for a minimum of a week (and preferably longer), so unless you get paid not to be at work, this cuts into your income for the year.

Assuming you aren't saving up while earning $1500 a month, that one week loss of income (unless you have paid vacation time in your contract) is going to hurt you. If you ARE about to simply visit enough during regular vacation periods AND the cost of visiting home once, twice or more often each year isn't too high, this won't affect you much, but it sure as hell takes a chunk out of my lifestyle and basically detracts the benefits of being able to take 40 km taxis trips here in China for $20.

(3) Unlike the locals, who will have a local network to depend on and parent to live with into their 30's, you won't have the same ability to depend on others when you need things. Instead, you'll have to pay up when you need things. So, your life isn't going to be cheaper than the locals.

(4) You'll also pay the foreign tax. Don't think people won't try (and probably succeed at times) to rip you off because you're not a local (and you don't speak the language).

(5) That $1500 will seem like a petty insult if you move to a country that expects you to work 12 hour days for your meager earnings.

(6) When living in some countries, it can be surprisingly expensive to maintain a visa for legal stay.

This list is just a start. I'm sure I could produce a longer list if I wanted to.

The very fact that you would ask this question tells me that you are unqualified to be a manager.

The ability to perform management functions requires a skillset that is learned and developed over time and not all people possess or are even capable of possessing.

Plus, unless you speak the local language wherever you decide to move to, you would be useless as a middle manager and have no history of success qualifying you for upper management.

Colombian Law student here:

You might be able to move, if you find a international private law related job. Otherwise, you would have to search for a school here to get a proper degree. Without it, you signature here is worthless (and pretty much anywhere in SA).

You could also work with patents, exequatur things or maybe an austrian company with a subsidiary in SA. They often prefer people from their own country for executive jobs.

PM if you have any questions.

Thanks for the replies.

Jeez, exactly the reason why I wanna quit the Law track is because its so damn inflexible. An engineer or prgrammer can just set up shop basically everywhere. With Law not so much. You cant just do low key Law stuff, like with engineering where you can take a pay cut but do stress free AutoCad shit. Law is all or nothing.

Austria would also be a fine countey, especially as its close borders to EE. But as we all know its becoming overrun with refugees and the big cities are basically lost.

Just to clarify, have you actually finished your law degree or are you just in the process?

And if you have finished the degree, are you struggling to pass the bar or something similar?

I'm not gonna lie, after I graudated, I lived on welfare a couple of months...and it was the best time ever. I was basically day gaming all the time. I had unlimited time and energy.

Now I'm doing an internship and it just fucking drains me. Just having to wake up every morning, going to work, dealing with coleagues makes it just so hard to motivate myself to do Game afterwards...at least if I was in Ukraine, hotties all around I could see something positive in all this.
