What makes it doubly surreal is that this woman writing the article, by being so trigger-happy, only further reinforces Bono's point. He's not even entitled to decry the state of affairs without himself being accused of misogyny. Hashtag #ThoughtPolice.

It's not that the left is eating its own as much as feminism has become a monster that will eat anything that stands in its way regardless of political identification.

Regardless... some people think this will force them to move conservative but it won't. As Liberals continue to brow beat, harass, and destroy leftists... it will just serve to unify them and keep them in line. They won't leave or fight back.

So, basically conservatives are soon going to be faced with a more unified, more radical, more violent Liberalism. The majority of the bleeting sheep just follow what's popular. Look at North Korea and Venezuela... That is what unchecked Liberalism will create in our future.

With that said... Bono is not an idiot. He also one time acknowledged that capitalism lifts more people out of poverty than any other method.

I think it's evolutionary or something. Up until not long ago, for thousands of years, you were either upper class or lower class. It's tough to believe with the perspective that modern medicine affords, but back in the day people actually believed Richard the Lionheart had a lion's heart, or at least had anatomy different than your average guy.

I'm sure you limeys can attest, classism is still alive and well in the U.K. (my reference comes from Gavin McInnes). Hell, you find it in urban ghettos here in the U.S. (reference The Fighter). So much of our history is based on what you were born in to that self-determinism is fairly recent.

Given that, Bono is simply doing what every other rich successful person out there does. It's no surprise that there's no deep pocket behind alt-right and conservative/libertarian ideas and movements.

Poor man is temporarily embarrassed millionaire working on making it in the music industry. Would never take a handout because that's the death-knell for his ingenuity. He doesn't feel slighted or wronged, just that he hasn't made it yet. He sees his fellow poor people as himself, hard-working but haven't made it.

Poor man makes it, gets money, gets success, remembers his fellow poor people and wants to help them. Never realizing his own beginnings...that his handout will be the death-knell for people trying to make it out of the ghetto.

I am starting to realize the reasons why so many musicians and actors are socialists. First of all, it's a blatantly unfair industry. A small minority of musicians make the big bucks. A few make a living. Most don't make a living at all. Wealth is not distributed equally at all.

Making it big often is just a matter of dumb luck. Therefore, they assume that all wealth is just a matter of dumb luck. They want to create a system that makes things "fair." They assume that the musicians who aren't making big bucks are just victims of an unfair system, which might be true.

Socialism is all about making the socialist feel good about himself or herself. It's nothing more than that.

I agree. A lot of musicians are socialist-leaning because they don't make money, and it's only reasonable to want a piece of the pie that everyone else seemingly has (even if that proposition is untrue).

The one's who make it generally keep their mentality because as you mentioned it's pure luck they make it, and they don't have the paradigm shift that occurs when tons of hard work and responsibility leads to riches.

Once I understood this, I don't really fault them. Although I wish musicians would keep their mouths shut about politics in general, unless they ARE a political band like RATM were.

The difference to me is that RATM was a political band and they always were. They truly believed in what they stood for and wrote about, which I can respect whether or not I agree with their ideas.

On the other hand, all these musicians today are singing fucking love songs and other bubble gum pop, but then all of a sudden support political things they really have no idea about or even bothered to research.
