Self conscious in clubs but not bars
09-03-2017, 05:35 PM
I tend to do alright in bars - I can chill, have a drink, and do some approaches. I don't get too self conscious or in my head because there's no pressure to dance or anything like that, even if it's loud. But in a club, I tend to get stuck in my head and self conscious - I'm afraid to dance so im still at the bar, but I feel like a loser because everyone else is able to let loose and have fun but I can't. I only end up talking to girls who go to get a drink, while most of them are at the dance floor.
Normally I just avoid this problem by not going to clubs, but I'm abroad now and the cities I'm visiting tend to have more clubs than bars for people my age range (early - mid 20s). So I guess my question is, what should I actually be doing in clubs? Is it ok to chill at the bar while everyone else dances, or do I need to just bite the bullet and try learning how to dance?

You don't need to learn how to dance, you just need to dance and have fun...naturally people (ang girls) will follow. Aside from Salsa dancers and some girls dancing rock or club in France nobody gives a shit how you dance.

No shame in hanging near the bar and chatting girls them up then. Its a great way to approach when they get away from friends.

Thanks everyone for the advice, it's very helpful. Realogist thanks for your input, I like your post and can see the value of dancing, but I think hip hop dance isn't my thing (I'm super white), is there any good info about how to dance to just club music in general? Or like dancing for pasty white guys 101?

Are you self-conscious rolling solo or self-conscious if you're with a group or both?

Try EDM dancing. It's simple, every time you hear a beat, either bounce left or bounce right. Or learn to head bang to dubstep.
EDM crowds are non-judgemental, mostly because most of us are rollin and thinking about fucking anyway.
But in all seriousness, dancing is fun, learn to enjoy it, and doors with women open up. Women don't go to clubs to have conversations. And you never want to be the guy in the corner holding a beer trying to look cool. The key to picking up women on the dance floor isn't to be the dancing monkey with a bud-light in your hand, it's to feel the music, make eye contact, look sexy, and smile.
