Going to Cornwall for bank holiday weekend

Hey guys this is my second post on the forum since I found this forum a year ago today.

Just a quick update since then. My game is beginner and have started again at the age of 30. I have been going to the gym since September last year and am seeing a huge difference. I still need to flatten my stomach so the bad habits of having 3 desserts needs to stop. Harder than it looks as I love food. My t-shirts are all small now which has definitely increased my confidence a little.

I have decided to be more adventurous. I am bored with everyone having great holidays while i' m stuck in London twiddling my thumbs and thus having nothing of interest to say ending the conversation pretty quickly.

So I have decided to go surfing solo this bank holiday weekend and take lessons while seeing the sites in Newquay. I still live at home so money is no problem at the moment. I have followed your advice and have stopped fapping and will just enjoy myself and see what happens but still need to approach and find my inner confidence.

Will update you later but it is a long way to Newquay with 3 hours to go so am writing this to pass the time as well. I will also go to that 16th September meetup.

Have a good bank holiday weekend. Am enjoying your datasheets and hope I will be contributing soon.

Going to Cornwall for bank holiday weekend

Hey guys

Went solo for three nights with two days surfing. As I am introverted, I'm still shocked I went on this trip.

Took around 5 hours to get there by train from London Paddington. When I returned, had to change at Par. My return ticket cost me £108.50 so still unsure if I was ripped off, but probably was. Newquay is a nice but very SMALL town in Cornwall, should have gone to Truro which is the biggest city within Cornwall. If I hadn't had those lessons I would have gone to Truro to see what was available as it only took 50 minutes by bus. There were quite a few bars and a couple of nightclubs too but didn't feel the vibe for that for some bizarre reason. They also had a cinema there too to take a date.

I arrived on the Sunday 27th August and stayed at Westward B & B which was a 10-15 minute walk to Towan Beach where we went surfing for the last lesson so logistically I was in a good position. It cost me £32 per night so quite cheap but didn't have an en-suite bathroom which I am usually used to. There were other lodgings available including the Great Western Hotel which looked much nicer than my B & B.

I saw everything within 2 days and went mad on my last day. Only the surfing on that day kept me sane. I had two lessons, the first lesson I was able to knee board without falling but fell off a lot of the time when I tried to stand. I felt that my instructor didn't really bother with me on the second lesson. It took another instructor to help me actually get to my feet for the first time and managed to surf the entire wave which was the highlight of my surfing experience. It will take more than 2 hours a day in my view to do well at surfing.

Things I saw--Went to the Blue reef Aquarium which cost £10.75 and took me 15 minutes to see all the animals in the fish tanks (Not an animal activist but felt those fish tanks were too small for some of them) so went round again to get my values worth lol. I went to the Newquay Zoo which cost around £17 and stayed there for a couple of hours. Quite a big zoo so walked around taking pictures of all the animals which was fun including seeing some of the animals being fed with a commentary. There is also a nice little road train which takes you round Newquay with a commentary which cost £6.50. I walked to the harbour and saw all the little boats and walked on the beach which was completely full on the Sunday and Monday.

There were other things to do as well such as coasteering £45pp, paddle-boarding and spending time on a fishing boat watching how they used bait and catch fish which would have been interesting.

I am trying to find my inner confidence, I guess I'm afraid of what people think which is why I don't approach so admit I need a good bollocking from you to remind me that I shouldn't care and just get on with it. My sarcasm, cockiness and arrogance are slowly getting better as well as my eye contact but A LONG way to go.

In conclusion-I will definitely return as the locals were friendly enough but needed game to enjoy it. Also it was a family orientated town but guys with no fear approaching would have cleaned up. Would have also been perfect for taking a girl there for the weekend.

That's the problem with Cornwall during the summer, there is going to be a lot of family stuff. You need a bit of local knowledge and ideally a car to travel around to find the best places to visit/things to do. If you go again, head down when they have a festival on, more people thus more opportunity.
