G'day Gents, I have a few questions for you all.
(Mods please excuse me if I have posted this in the wrong section of the forum)

As the title suggests, I will be visiting Malaysia for the upcoming MotoGP in October. I will be staying for 5-6 days. I have never been to Malaysia before, and I will be travelling there by myself. I have a couple of questions for those of you who have been to a GP there before, or who are frequent travellers to Malaysia.

1. Where is the best place to stay during the GP? In KL itself, or in Sepang near the track?

2. Am I better off staying in a hotel or in an AirBNB? Money isn't a big concern with accommodation, as I would like to have something comfortable and nice for my stay.

3. Obviously with the GP on, their will be an influx of international tourists, where is the best place to meet girls? Which bars are currently trending? Does standard Day game/mall approaches work in Malaysia like the rest of SEA?

I went to the 2013 moto gp race and the F1 a few months previously.

As you would expect with anything in Malaysia, despite having hosted both the moto gp and F1 races every season for almost 20 years now it is still an utter organisational shitshow. My buddy has been every year and the same dude has been in charge of running the shuttle buses from the airport to the circuit and he still hasn't the slightest clue what the fuck is going on. The food offered at the circuit is a total joke: burgers which are already stone cold by the time you arrive and run out hours prior to the first race. Utter chaos with the seating with people sitting on the steps completely blocking the way out.

But that said it's a cracking race generally and always a good watch. I'm guessing you have your tickets already but if not I highly recommend getting your seats in the stand at turn 1 - the VR46 stand so you're looking directly up the pit straight. You get to see the start, all the overtaking into turn one and two and can also see turn 4 which is also a prime overtaking spot. Plus the atmosphere is pretty electric in that granstand also. Unlike the F1 Malaysians love their MotoGP.

To answer your questions:

1 & 2) Given the track is right next to the airport and miles from the centre of KL it makes sense to stay at the airport hotel whatever days you are going to the circuit. I'm not sure if they've built any more since but there a budget hotel called Tune which you can basically walk to from arrivals and is right next to where you can get a shuttle bus to the circuit also. It's cheap and does the job.

Both occasions I stayed at Tune for easy access to the circuit. Mainly as I had been out in KL a couple times before and the nightlife utterly blows. So wasn't really interested in partying. However, if you haven't been before it would be a bit of a waste not to check it out so in which case I would recommend staying somewhere in KLCC for when you want to check out the nightlife. I would probably go for a hotel as they're pretty cheap anyway and it being Malaysia I'm not sure I would be confident most places on airbnb are advertised accurately.

So presumably you'll want to party Satuday night then need to get to the circuit Sunday. There's an express train which goes from KL Sentral to the airport near the circuit which takes half an hour. I've never used it but apparently it's pretty quick/efficient so I've heard. Not sure this will still be the case on race days and I'm pretty sure it'll be packed unless you try get up there super early. Traffic is a nightmare in general in KL but on race day when we went it was absolutely jammed up solid at the track, particularly coming back on the Sunday. So if you're staying sunday night then definitely stay at the airport hotel as likely won't be much happening that night anyway.

3) I'm mainly a nightgame kinda guy and KL frankly proper sucks balls for nightlife. Although I've not been in over a year now and I'm getting the sense it's changing fairly rapidly.

Still however, to put it into perspective: there's an Indonesian bottle rat chick who recently moved to KL who was best pals with a girl I was banging. In Jakarta she was very much in the B or C league of chicks and would need to rely on her much hotter pal to get an invite onto a table in the club at the weekend. One of the many average chicks there who has to pound the shit out of tinder (using extremely flattering and/or fake photos) in order to find a thirsty sucker to sponsor her evening, while the top level girls just need to show up. Since moving to KL however she's constantly posting on FB/IG every weekend on yet another VVIP table with bottles upon bottles partying her ass off. Snapgram videos of yet another parade of 6-8 Doms being brought to the table with all the sparklers and shit. That's inbetween the occasional photos of brand new handbags and loubis with a "Aaaa so sweet, thanks so much bestie! #spoiled" and hanging out in some 5 star penthouse infinity pool with a view of the Petronas Towers with her other low 6 friends. From the looks of it thirst is still off the scale in KL...

Still tho, not that you can't have a good time. I think there's a few KL datasheets if you do a quick search so I'll not try regurgitate that info here. The main club is Zouk, which is huge and contains countless smaller clubs inside. It's very chinese however so expect every room to be completely dominated by tables packed with mixed groups all totally buried in their phones ignoring eachother and the 12 bottles of whiskey they've ordered (and clearly not even going to make a dent in that evening).

Next to Zouk is an area of bars and restaurants called Trek which personally I prefer and can bar hop around. There's more expats kicking about there and a better mixed crowd. They were still building it out the last time I was there so not sure how much it's changed since (maybe it'll have impacted the crowd in Zouk also). I'll be up in KL for a weekend next month on business and we will get a couple nights out so can feed back properly.

Changkat Bukit Bintang is a cool street with lots of bars either side. I'm not sure if the new Zouk and Trek area has stolen a lot of the crowd from there but it's still worth checking out I reckon. Although I really didnt see much in the way of decent talent there.

I'm not one for daygame or online but heard mixed to good reports for both re KL, so perhaps that could be more of an avenue if you're into that. KL has a decent city centre area which is easy to walk around and some decent talent about. Also I have friends who were getting decent success on tinder. The quality they got was passable if not spectacular but in general the chicks seemed quite open, friendly and keen to meet.

I'm of interest of this thread too. I'm going to the Malaysian F1 race alter this year.

While my answers are probably limited in helpfulness I can help where I can.

I'm staying in KLCC district (personas towers etc). Which is probably about an hour travel from the Sepang circuit and seeings as I'm in that city for about 5 days I'd rather be staying in the city even if it is a slight inconvenience for a 2 hours round trip to the track.

If you got the cash nothing beats the luxury of a hotels and KL is very reasonably priced and come with a lot of nice conveniences.

From what I have heard there are a few bars in KLCC and then Bukit Bintang. I've heard the name Sky Bar being shouted about here and there and thats' the only one I've heard of.

If you stay at the Ritz or Mandarin Oriental. You WILL bump into racers and their crews. I experienced this in 2011 at the MO.

I also went to the one in Montreal 2014. In general I can say that the events around the race offer far more opportunities for game than any official parties and such. The actual race IMO is overrated. I'll defer to Irish for the specifics, he's the boss of this part of SEA.

EDIT: I'm daft. You were asking about the Moto GP, I was talking about F1.

As of my visit in January, thirst was definitely still of the charts as evidenced by the extreme flakingness of the women and the fact that whores with broken front teeth thought that I would actually be interested in their services.

I set my location and I can't say I'm impressed. In fact I'm disappointed by what I see/read.

As per Irish' suggestion hit up the airport hotel for the GP dates, then head on to Sunway Pyramid area for your daygaming/nightgaming needs.

Its a much bigger student city compared to the horrible bukit bintang area where cheap whores act like 5 star models.

If you do plan trips elsewhere in the country, try hacking your location in tinder to ipoh amd Penang to get leads before commiting to a trip. Some of them do like some discreet fun.
