A new Hungarian government campaign promoting family values features a couple you might recognize from a thousand memes.
The billboard campaign features a photo of a young couple cuddling and seemingly very much in love, which is in keeping with the government's message of traditional family values. But they are better known for being not quite so besotted.
The pair are also in the "distracted boyfriend" photo that launched many memes. The photo was taken in 2015 by Spanish photographer Antonio Guillem and its title on the stock image site Shutter Stock is "Disloyal man walking with his girlfriend and looking amazed at another seductive girl."
The Hungarian government has come under fire for its campaigning of late. Last month, Budapest launched a taxpayer-funded campaign aimed at European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and Hungarian-American businessman George Soros, accusing Brussels of pushing migration plans that "threaten Hungary's security."
After a backlash, the Hungarian government said it would end the anti-Brussels campaign on March 15. Adverts attacking Juncker and Soros were still appearing on the site of TV channel ATV on Wednesday.
