I get tired easily when working out but physical job I dont?

If I start to work out, do push ups, sit ups, squats etc I get tired easily and it seems like my muscles faily quickly, its very frustrating because in my job I can go all day long even when my body is tired and beat up as all hell.

I can be at my job carrying a ton of lumber, getting on roofs, glueing, stapling, hammering, up and down ladders, bending down, crouching, lifting in ways that get my traps a good workout, my back, my biceps, legs, Im getting a full body workout Mon-Fri and I have all the energy in the world and I love it.

So maybe this is a mental thing? Maybe going to the gym with a buddy would help, sometimes when I carry heavy lumber from one side to the roof to the other (more than 30 large pieces) I envision in my head I am competing with some imaginary guy and Im talking crap to him saying thats all you got? I wont quit I'll go until the job is done, anyway has anyone gone through this? I want to build up some nice muscles but maybe Im lazy for that type of thing, Im not lazy for physical work but gym perhaps.

Could be a few things.

Do you workout before or after work?

If it's after, your muscles fatigue because you've been beating them up all day so they will fatigue quicker. You can counter this by working out only on the weekends. Just to hard when you do.

You are probably used to the physicality if your job but not used to the working out.

You can counter a lot of this by eating more food to fuel yourself to workout but after a physical job and working out you'll need to get A LOT of sleep.

At work you build certain very specific muscle groups at the expense of others. It allows you to do repetitive tasks with minimal effort that to the observer would seem difficult. Then you go to do some cardio or a full body workout and you feel rooted because you're using a bunch of other muscles that by comparison have been left to rot.

Just one possibility. On the other hand it could simply be your body telling you "cut it out, I need more down time".

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

If you're working a physical job, get more food/calories in. A guy who works at a desk doesn't need what a guy who works in a rock quarry needs.

20 Cal's per lb of bodyweight is a good start. Also, try to get in plenty of salt(under rated), water, carbs, and maybe get in 10g of creatine per day.

'Fail quickly' and 'tired easily' are very nebulous terms. We can't help you without more detail.

Things can only be improved where measurements/numbers are written down.

Please write down your last 2 workouts, give the exact exercises you did, and the amount of reps you managed. Or at least write a detailed explanation of your workout plan and explain where exactly you feel you are not living up to your goals.

Guessing your in your late 20's, early 30's?

I noticed my body throwing on the brakes at 27, 29 and 34 specifically...like I downshifted in a car. Some things get better (technique, motor neural pathways more firmly etched; a hypothesis of mine...) but I work a physically taxing job and if I don't do the things I need (scratch) HAVE to do to maintain my personal metabolic rate I get skinny.

And that's really annoying at this stage in my life.

It might well be a mental thing. By feeling tired your brain is protecting you and your body.
I watch this video last night and it made a lot of sense on how to get past that mental block. https://youtu.be/supVPLOHWPg
