City in SW to settle down in? (and find a wife)

If future children are in the mix I would stay away from SoCal and Las Vegas. Other than the rare Mexican or Asian friend I have who grew up here, barely anyone is a very solid person. Vast majority of solid people are always transplants that are not from the west coast.

I strongly believe the image & status of SoCal life breeds a low level sociopathy in many many people because of image competition & anxiety, most especially whites (I'm white).

Out of your list Phoenix or second tier Arizona sounds like the best bet.

As mentioned before I think Colorado is better than all those for settling down if you can handle the mild winters. If you need warm sunshine all the time Arizona all the way.

San Diego chicks tend to be nicer and less stuck up than LA & OC girls in general. Still you have a pretty big airhead/shallow personality factor baked in much of the time.

My friends that grew up in San Diego all had the low sociopathy & shallow tendencies same as my OC, LA, or Santa Barbara friends so I don't think it is great to raise children.

I disagree.
It's the transplants that brought sociopathy to the SoCal and West Coast and west of the Rockies.

We had solid communities for generations. Government workers were one the dumb ones who couldn't get real jobs. Now bureaucracies are filled with first and second generation Easterners who make way more than they deserve

The West was founded by people escaping the eastern cities bureaucrats and who wanted to be free from New York/DC/Chicago/Atlanta liberalism and political machines.

Now we got all these borderline line alcoholics whose lives revolves around TV and sports and who let dogs bark non-stop...even in affluent areas. They are mostly bureaucrats and govt contractors and non-native or second generation.

In the SoCal I grew up in, people had respect for each other and didn't let dogs bark non-stop or let them crap anywhere and drove at proper speeds on the freeways.

It is the recent transplants that destroyed the culture of SoCal and the West.
It is Eastern/West of the Rockies liberalism that creeped in and infected the West.

I have found the social aspect of LA to be highly undesirable. You also will not be "living the life" there unless you make some serious bankroll.

San Diego has high paying jobs, the beach, and more reasonable housing.

Vegas is okay if you can somehow find an Asian wife who doesn't gamble, but that's unlikely.

Despite having only driven through, I'd advocate Tucson if the beach isn't worth an extra 300k+ to you

SoCal attracts rabbits. Fun, sun, drugs. Hardly conservative values.

There was a time when this state was untamed land. That time brought entrepreneurs. Today, tamed, California attracts only leeches. AKA rabbits.

If you are making $200k+ I'd consider San Diego, it is my favorite city in America. Beaches, sunny and 65, women, nightlife, total package. But pricey. And great breweries.

If you don't mind vocal liberals everywhere then Denver would be next on the list. Tons of shit to do, hot outdoorsy/athletic chicks, top rate skiing/snowboarding/hiking/mountain biking/camping. Legal marijuana. And great breweries.

Scottsdale is a solid mix of affordable (relative to CA & Denver), quantity and quality women, great outdoors, entertainment. If San Diego is too $$$ and Denver is too cold go here. Those 3 months where it is pushing 110 you will either be indoors or in car with AC, in the pool, or on vacation. Everyone figures it out. Oh, and it is a dry heat. [Image: tard.gif]

Tucson is Scottsdale-lite, probably better place once the family is started. Or to find a wife, U of A is better academically than ASU and many Cali schools and the girls have slightly fewer notches from my experience.

If you have the time and money I'd go spend a week in each (LA, San Diego, Denver, Phx/Tuc) and see which vibe you like best. They all have hot women, great weather, great outdoors. Just different varieties.
