2.Montanita
Montanita is a little town on the coast of Ecuador. The most convenient way to get there is a direct bus from Guayaquil that takes 3 hours and costs 6 USD. Getting there from Quito is significantly longer and would require a stopover.
The place is supposedly a hippie destination from 60’s but some Ecuadorians told me that foreigners started to arrive on bigger scale just in the beginning of 00’s. Accordingly, the town has a strong bohemian vibe with a lot of alternative people from all over the world, smoking weed and surfing during the day and going out at night. Of course not everyone has dreadlocks, tattoos and piercing all over their body but it’s something you should expect. Some people do not even bother entering the clubs as they prefer to hang out and party on the beach.
I stayed here from before the New Years’ Eve till the end of first week of January and it was packed with people, especially on the weekends. I really enjoyed my time here and I wish I could stay more but I would need to slow down with partying a bit.
3.Girls
A)Latinas
Argentineans – Majority of latinas in Montañita. It’s a popular destination for Argentineans in general so plenty of them come here to spend university vacation (it’s mid-December until March as far as I am concerned), but there are a few that work and live in Montañita. Usually hang out in duos or trios. A lot of hipster types but you can find regular ones as well. Quality is decent for this hippie town, normally highest among other latinas. I have never been to Argentina but I assume that they become more open and sluttier here.
Chileans – From my observations, they usually hang out in bigger group then Argentines, often mixed groups including one or two dudes, travelling together from Chile. Not as hipster as Argentines but the fact that they are in bigger and mixed groups makes it harder to isolate. Pretty similar quality and attitude to Argentine. If you manage to isolate and build serious attraction you may score within this group.
Ecuadorians – Quite a lot of them, especially on the weekends with the influx from the commercial hub of Ecuador - Guayaquil. Usually with a group of friends. Initially, I thought that Ecuadorian chicks won’t be attractive at all but luckily there are a few that are pretty decent. Easier to flirt with, better attitudes then two first groups and almost no hipsters. If you are good-looking Caucasian you will definitely receive some IOIs. Isolate, show some value, differentiate yourself from the other gringos and it’s pretty easy to score.
Peruvians – sizable group, right after Ecuadorians. Usually travel from Lima in the group of girlfriends 3+. I haven’t seen any indigenous looking chicks but the quality was rather low. I just found some Limeñas of Asian descent really attractive. In general, they seem harder to isolate and not very down to fuck. Would not bother unless you can find done that obviously seems receptive to your game.
Colombians – quantity almost on par with Peruvians. Most of the girls are on university holidays from Cali and Southern Colombia, sprinkled with some Bogotanas. I guess there are barely any when the semester starts in February in Colombia. These girls are not the best representation of what you would find in their motherland but the quality better than Ecuadorian, Peruvians and some Chileans. They rarely look hipster, just hippie at heart (read: hornier and sluttier). Attitudes are good, especially if you speak Spanish and have something to say about Colombia. Simply a good target.
Venezuelans – I met just few of them. However, none of them were on vacation but they were temporarily working there. Quality was similar to Colombians if not better. Try to flirt a bit while they are working, get number as soon as possible and chat the up to meet later.
Rest of Latinas – Haven’t seen any other latinas. Some Argentineans told me that they met two Uruguayan chicks. Mexicans, Central Americans and Brazilians were unheard of. What a pity.
B)Western Europeans and Anglosphere
The proportion of these girls was around 30% comparing to Latinas, by my estimation. I did not game them neither did I pay attention to them here as I am simply disinterested about that group (expect for Romance-speaking Europeans but haven’t seen any of them here). From what I noticed there are either Germanic Europeans or Americans, Australians and Kiwis. I guess regular Western style game combined with good logistics would work here. Interestingly, I saw some duos of an ugly Ecuadorian dude and a gringa hanging out solo on the beach. No idea if they bang them, however.
4.Game
Day game - show-up on the beach enjoying yourself. It helps a lot if you surf and/or are muscular. Most of the guys here are skinny or out of shape so if you have just a little bit of muscles, you would have a huge advantage. Some accessories such as cool shades, nice bracelets or decent panama/phedora hat are definitely a plus. If you smoke weed and you notice your target enjoying this vice just ask if they have papers/lighter or offer a blunt and ramble on. Ideally, you would be rolling with a wingman and you will be opening duo’s of chicas sunbathing. Just look like cool dudes who are here to have a good time. Make plans with chicas for later on or invite them for a drink if your logistics are fine and girls are receptive enough.
Night game – dress comfortable but stylish. I was wearing white guayabera, linen shorts and boat shoes and I was dressed better than 99% of the dudes. It can be a little too hot for long trousers. Go to the Cocktail Street, sit down and enjoy your drink. Screen your possible targets for the night. It very probable that you will bump into them during that night as the place is small. The action does not really start until 11pm. If you enter clubs, approach you target, chat and dance with her for a while. To isolate (very important if she’s with friends) tell her that you want to get a cocktail from the Cocktail Street. Get the cocktails and tell her that you want to talk on the beach. Sit on the sand, listen to the waves and ramble on. As soon as you’re finished with cocktails, tell her that you have a good liquor at your place you want share with her/you want to rest a bit. If she agrees, you know what to do. You may skip getting a cocktail from the Cocktail Street if you think she’s horny/drunk enough. Alternatively, you can just game chicks that are sitting on the beach in the pretty same pattern. If you are hippie at heart, try to approach some that are gathered around something what I called ´fireplace party’ provided that there is any around.
Online game – I would not bother. I used Tinder at the beginning but you run out of swipes
quick. However, some Ecuadorian chicks on vacation seemed eager to meet a gringo.
5. Venues
Coctail Street – street with plenty of bar carts along its length. Next to the cart, there are one or tables and chairs for 4 to 8 people. Some people said it reminded them of some place in Thailand but I forgot how it is called. You can get one drink from 3 USD to 4 USD. Some places offers 2 cocktails (Mojito, Caipirinha, Daiquiri as far as I remember) for 5 USD. Come here to pre-drink or take a chick you pulled out from the club.
Lost Beach – Supposedly a club that is in world TOP 50 of electronic music. They have some international DJs on the weekends. Cover 5 dollars for dudes. During my stay there was a Ladies’ week meaning chicks get for free. High quality sound systems indeed. Come here if you enjoy some good electronics, techno etc. I do liked that music but my friend and chicks I was hooking up with didn’t, so I did not spend too much time there.
Caña Grill – a club on the Coctail Street, most frequented by me. Most of the nights, the entrance is free but there is a cover for guys on the weekends after midnight. Probably the best chicks here, almost no hipsters. Various music from reggaeton, salsa and other Latin genres through pop music till rock played live. Part of the dancefloor is covered by sand. Cuba Libre is 4 USD. Did most of approaches here because of relative quality of chicks and good vibe according to me and my friend.
There is also another club on the Coctail Street I went couple of times but I forgot the name. Anyway, there were more Ecuadorians, a lot of tables, promotions of hookah, bottle of liquor and soft drinks for 50 USD (lol), so bad set-up for hooking up. There are couple of beach clubs between the town and the river but I did not attend. The further you go from the Coctail Street, the clubs are turning more into bars and restaurants.
6. Accommodation
First four nights I stayed in Hidden House hostel. It was pretty nice with good mix of Latinos and Gringos. They do parties and promos on couple of nights a week, accommodates quite a lot of people. You can smoke weed on premises. The only problem is that location is next to the river so when the sun goes down shit loads of mosquitos appear. Get yourself a repellent or don’t stay next to the river.
The rest of my days I stayed with a friend in a cabin in northern part of town, very close to the beach. It was likely 10-15 minutes walking to the center. The place was awesome, we both had private rooms and you could hear the ocean. There are a lot of surf camps and school as the waves there are best and it had some classier (if you could use this Word to describe Montanita haha) venues to eat then in the town.
I would not recommend accommodation anywhere close to the Cocktail Street. Too noisy and too much people. It’s disturbing if you want to sleep. Nevertheless, might be good if you to pull the girl to your place quickly.
Because of the super high season the prices were rather elevated. For the private room with bathroom in the hostel I splashed 70 USD a night (4 nights during the NYE weekend) and the cabin was almost 400 USD for 5 night between both of us.
7.Getting Around
Town is so small you can walk everywhere. If you want to explore surroundings you can rent a bike. If I remember correctly, it was 10 USD per day.
8.Safety
I felt secure in Montanita. The main concern for you should pickpocketing. I was robbed of my wallet and watch (don’t fell asleep drunk on the beach!). Just keep your eyes open. I only saw 2 street fights during my stay there. First one was basically Ecuadorian mobs beating up some gringo looking dude and the second one was between some random Ecuadorians.
7.Food
It’s not bad. Obviously a lot of sea food. Ecuadorian ceviche is 6 USD from the cart in the street and 7 USD from the one on the beach. In some places a bit further away from the core you can get menu of appetizer, main course and beverage during lunchtime for 3-3.5 USD. Fish soup – encebollado – in the Ecuadorian place is 2 USD. Empanadas and fried plantains on the beach 1 USD. You can get something fancy for 8USD+.
8.Stuff to Do
Surfing - I am not a surfer, but I heard the waves are decent. If you’re beginner I heard the 3 hour class is 20-30 USD all included.
Gym – I saw one gym in town but never entered.
Parasailing – something like paragliding but you’re pulled by the boat. Loads of fun. Ask the guys on the beach. 20 USD for 15 minutes.
Isla de la Plata – called the Galapagos for the poor. Still pretty beautiful scenery. Walk around the island and bird-watch blue-footed bubis. Do some snorkeling, see the colorful fishes and big turtles (not as huge as on Galapagos though). Going stoned recommended. The day tour cost me 45 USD.
Islote Salango – little island by the coast by the village of Salango 45 minutes from Montañita. You can do snorkeling or scuba-diving, not as good as de la Plata though.
Playa de los Frailes – Beautiful beach, 40 minutes north on bus. Part of the national parks, the rangers guard the entrance and its open only until 4PM. You cannot bring smokes or joints inside as they search you but hide it well, don’t litter and voila! Go on the sunny day.
Dos Mangas – some waterfalls and natural pools, takes 2 hours walking from the town to get there.
9.Trip report
Day 1
Arrived at Guayaquil airport at 4.30pm. Went to the bus station, taxi cost 4USD. Met my Mexican friend. We get on the bus but we have separate seats. The light on the bus is so weak I cannot even read. Shit, how boring! The whole trip I am gazing at stupid Hollywood comedy with Adam Sandler dubbed in Spanish.
After 3 hours we arrived to Montanita. It’s 9pm, and it does not look like a lot of action. I check-in and entered a hostel my Mexican friend. The dude still did not have an accommodation and I told the receptionist he is only going to leave his bags. The party in the garden is full mode on, I guess everybody though we are gay lol. Although it looked good, we did not join and went to explore the town. People were still not out yet so we just were just hanging around drinking beer. Meanwhile amigo was looking for the hostel. At one of them, while he was talking to receptionist I opened a mixed group of Chileans. I rambled on but my mate didn’t seem interested so I just got the number from the one that gave my most interest and we went to the beach. For the next couple of hours, we drank 2 bottles of Ecuadorian rum (the shittiest rum I ever had IMHO but cheap af) and flirt with plenty of chicks but no results. Around 4AM my drunken naturalist spirit told me to lay down and listen to the waves. We felt asleep…
Day 2
…and woke up after 6AM on the beach.
-Dude, where the fuck is my wallet? We asked ourselves at the same time.
Went back to hostel. I told the guard that my buddy is staying with me lol. Now, they must have been thinking we’re gays. Anyway I crushed on my bad and the Mexican slept on the hammock next to my room.
Woke up around 1PM and felt like shit. We spent our day walking along the beach, bullshitting and drinking beer. We decided to spend NYE pre-party in the hostel. Met some Peruvians and Portuguese dudes and drank with them. An hour and a half before midnight we went to the beach to celebrate the beginning of 2017. Shit loads of people on the beach, tons of fireworks and people burning giant dolls (Ecuadorian tradition, pic below). Vibe is crazy, hippie and cool. People jumping through the fireplaces, getting shitfaced and having fun.
We have lost our company, therefore we went to the town to look for some chicas. Did some approaches that led to nowhere, the streets were overcrowded and the chicks had attitudes. We went back to the beach and sat down. Then, a very reflective thought came to my mind.
‘Damn, I have get laid tonite’
Suddenly, I saw a chick who was just by herself. She had some weird tattoo on the back. I walked to her leaving my friend and ask her ‘What does it mean?’ (thanks 30 Bangs by Roosh V). She appeared to be Ecuadorian from Quito, 5 years older than me, pretty big boobs, nice ass and face, overall splendid as for Ecuador. I kept talking with her around 20-30 minutes and told her that I have an awesome bottle of tequila in my place and if she wants to try. She agrees so we moved to my hostel. I was worried I would be cockblocked by the guard but he didn’t ask anything. BINGO! We drank Tequila and after little resistance we were in my bed. I was too annoyed with searching for condoms so I did her raw 3 times. Ecuadorian flag captured! A pleasant beginning of 2017 I must admit.
Afterwards, we agreed that we have to find our respective friends. We went back to the beach and I found my Mexican buddy. The dude felt asleep again and now they robbed his smartphone. Shit. I felt sorry for him being robbed two nights in row. The chick disappeared looking for her friends. I tried to cheer him up by smoking some weed. He was not in the mood for a blunt so we went back to hostel.
Day 3
My friend was pissed off about what happened so he took a bus to Quito. I spent my day trying to block the debit card from my stolen wallet, booking a tour to Isla de la Plata for the following day, reading a book, chilling on the hammock and checking out Tinder. I matched with some Peruvian chick and I went to her place at 5PM that was supposed to be a cabin. She was not that good but hey gotta capture that Peruvian flag. It was far away from the center so I had to take a taxi. It appeared to be a hostel with cabins. We drank a beer and I told her to see the sunset on the beach. I managed to make out with her but the conversation was going heavy. She signaled that she want to spend some time with her friend now. No Peruvian flag for me this time. I went back to the hostel and reflected that I should have asked her to come to my place instead. Decided to ditch Tinder during my stay. In the hostel I drank some rum and chatted a bit with some Germans and Peruvians. Approached an Argie chick that sit next to us but I ran out of steam quickly. Tired after two nights of drinking and having a tour a following day at 8:30am I decided to call it a night and went to sleep.
Day 4
Tour was chill. Walking around the uninhabited island, snorkeling and watching tropical animals helped me recuperated and gain some energy. I wish I had been stoned. Unfortunately, no interesting people met.
Went back to hostel. Drank beer with Peruvians. We talked about things to see in Peru. Peruvian chicks and ayahuasca. I concluded I not ready for this stuff yet, so I will just focus on banging chicks and sightseeing on my trip to Peru. The Peruvians seemed to be overexcited about the Scandinavian blond chicks doing their gap year travelling around the whole world that were sitting nearby. Afterwards, the gathering became larger and an obnoxious Australian convinced everyone to play a drinking game with the objective of drinking a shot of beer every minute for 100 minutes. While playing he ran some douchebag game on the Scandinavians, cockblocking the Peruvians. Poor guys.
Finally, we went out around 11am with the people from the hostel. Apparently, all the clubs were closed on Monday. The Aussie dude was so drunk he could not stand still and Scandinavians were put off by his behavior. There were few people in the town and I was not in the mood to approach. I just went with a German, a Peruvian and an English to smoke a joint on the beach. We were debating about something I cannot remember for an hour and went back to sleep. I thought I may be getting to old to stay in hostels.
Day 5
Checked out from the hostel at 12AM and met with my very good Peruvian friend who just arrived. Good to see ypu after a long time bro! He was with a Peruvian chick that happened to be his company on the bus and was looking for her friends. Not pretty but pleasant to hang around with. We went to our cabin, get ourselves sorted out. Afterward we went to eat out and bumped on her friends on the beach. They were not highest quality but bangable, accompanied by two other Peruvian dudes and one Bogotano.
My mate suddenly disappeared. I looked around and saw him talking to two chicks. I walked towards them and we all conversed for a while. They were Argentineans from Cordoba, first one chubby with a cute face and second one slim with alright face. Initially I struggled to understand their accent as I haven’t met a lot of Argentineans so far. We took their numbers and made plans to meet in the evening and walked to our cabin. He claimed the slim one. No worries dude, I didn’t even have to approach and if everything goes fine we can both claim a new flag. We had a siesta until 8PM cooked pasta, pre-drank some pisco and remembered good old days.
We met with Argies at the bar in the town. Drank some cocktails, talked about random bullshit but it was going well, there was a flow. Then we went to Lost Beach club, not so many people yet (10.30PM). I like techno so I enjoyed the vibe there, but my Latino group finds it too soulless. At some point, the slimmer one asked me if I wanted to smoke. We went on the patio where I teased her a bit and she seemed receptive. My friend comes with the chubby one, we talked a bit together then the chicks went to toilet. He tells me I should go for a kiss with the slimmer one because she was complaining to the chubby one that she is not sure if I like her. Tranquilo papa, there is time for everything. Guess we’re swapping our targets today. Latinos have enough of electronica so we moved to Caña Grill. Danced a bit more and we asked them if they want to come try pisco in our cabin. They agreed so we bounced.
I walked arm-in arm with the slim and my buddy with the chubby one along the beach. I kissed her and she asked where we’re going and told me that they should not do it because two argentine chicks were killed in Montañita. Don’t worry señorita, we are good people. Arrived in our place we had a shot of pisco. Immediately after my buddy went with chubby one to his room. So did I with my target. We banged once. Argentine flag captured! After I busted my nut she told me that she did not feel well so I walked her to her hostel. So romantic. The chubby one stayed the whole night and I heard them banging when I came back.
Day 6
I was woken up by the sounds of the sexual intercourse upstairs. Good for them. Made myself a breakfast. The chubby greeted me when she left. We hi-fived on our new flag and went to the town. We spend our day booking a tour to Playa de los Frailes, hanging out with the Peruvian chick and some random people on the beach, smoking weed as well as having conversations about life. We decided to go out but come back earlier as we had a tour the next day. Little did we know that it wouldn’t work.
We drank some aguardiente after dinner and we hit the clubs. We approached a lot of chicks but without any success. In the meantime, we bumped into Argies from yesterday. Nice talking to you girls but we have some more approaches to do. In Caña Grill I saw group of 5 Asian-looking gals. I became curious as I haven’t seen any people from Asia around here. I asked them if they from China. They said that they are from Peru but have Japanese descent. They all look at least decent so kept on rambling. I chose the one that seemed most into me and we started some serious perreo to the sounds of reaggeton. I told her to go have drink with me. She said ok but she says she has to stick around her friends. No worries, I won’t bite you. We talked a bit more and went back to the dancefloor but after a while she told that her friends are leaving and she has to go with them. No Peruvian flag for me again.
Went back to friend we bumped into our Peruvian hang-out chick, her friends, their orbiters and the bogotano from yesterday. The latter asked me if I wanna try something. Why not? He put LSD into my mouth. Cheers mate, hadn’t had that for ages. We hang around an hour more on the beach. My amigo tells me to go home as it’s already 4AM and we have a tour at 9AM. He convinced our hang-out Peruvian girl to come with us and sleep in our house as tomorrow we have to go together and she agreed. I tried to persuade one of her Peruvian girlfriend to come with us but I failed. I was either the fault of acid or she was not drunk. Whatever. Our trio went back to cabin. We drank one pisco and smoked a joint. The girl did not seemed interested to have a threesome with us, so my naturalist instinct told me that I’d better swim in the Pacific. So I did. I barely slept one hour that night.
Day 7
I woke at 8AM and I zombie walked to the meeting place for the tour. Still felt that acid. Slept the whole way to the Islote Salango. The guide told us it’s forbidden to smoke on the boat so we quickly lit a joint on the beach. The snorkeling was pretty nice but not as good as en la Plata. We met two Argie dudes in their 30s and two Argie chicks around 20. Get along with them well. Before heading to los Frailes where smoking is also forbidden we lit another joint together with Argies. Chicks seemed excited, they may have not smoked before. We talked some more on the beach but I mostly slept. Come back to Montañita and killed the munchies with empanada gigante and ceviche. Life is good.
We went back to the cabin for three hour siesta and felt refreshed afterwards so we started with aguardiente again. Met with Argie dudes on the Cocktail Street after 10PM. Eventually we went to Caña grill where everyone quickly chose their target. After couple of approaches I started dancing with one chick. She was pretty hot and dressed little slutty. Turned out she’s 35 yo Ecuadorian living in Canada on vacation. 5 minutes later I suggested a cocktail outside. After getting a drink we went on the beach and we talked. She told me she is divorced, marriage is boring and I shouldn’t do it. I replied that I don’t plan to and asked why she broke up with her husband. She said that he was not giving her enough sex.

I said let’s go and so we did. While walking she told me the same story about two Argentinean chicks raped and killed by some Ecuadorians, one or two years ago. I guess, there would be even more Argies provided it didn’t happen. Back in our place we kissed in no time. She did not show any resistance and we banged within 5 minutes. At 10PM we met with Argie dudes on the Cocktail Street. Shortly after, we went to Caña Grill and everyone started approaching. I saw one girl alone, turned out she’s Puerto Rican from NYC. We talked a bit but the conversation died quickly. Afterwards, I dance approached a petite Colombiana with cute face, bubbly ass and perky tits. I have a sweet spot for that type of Latinas. Dancing and talking with her, vibe is very positive. Did the cocktail + conversation on the beach move. Talked some more, sitting on the sand and suggested drinking Pisco in my cabin. Day 9
My friend had to leave Montanita at 4PM. We bullshitted around the town some time and while walking along the beach we met the Argie chicks we banged. Chilled with them for a bit and went to have lunch together. I concluded that Argentine personality has be the least latin of all latinos. Said good bye and farewell my friend. Good times bro. I texted the Colombiana from yesterday. I chilled out with her and her friends on the beach. Around sunset I went to my place. I will miss this place.
The Colombiana texted me a picture of beer around 10PM. I asked her where she was and went to that place. It was Saturday so there were shit loads of people especially Ecuadorians. We drank a beer with her friends in a bar but the conversation was slow because of loud music and my overall tiredness. Then we went to Caña Grill but it is the same story. I do not feel motivated anymore and I used a line of last resort of cocktail + beach talk as I told her that I cannot speak with her the way I wanted inside the club. We sat on the sand and actually had a meaningful conversation and she tells me I am a special person. Thanks. After finishing a drink, honest as I was, I told her that I want to make love with her and swim in the Pacific all night. Conclusion
Overall, I enjoyed my experience in Montanita. I think I could live there for some time during my 20s. After 30, it might get to fucked up but I saw some 60 yo Gringos enjoying themselves here. The only think I regret is not doing enough day game and not trying surfing. I wish I got my Chilean and Peruvian flag here but there is still time.
If you speak Spanish, are in your 20s, like to party, surf and want to collect South American flags, you should definitely pay Montanita a visit. I will come back if I am around Ecuador.

2.Montanita
Montanita is a little town on the coast of Ecuador. The most convenient way to get there is a direct bus from Guayaquil that takes 3 hours and costs 6 USD. Getting there from Quito is significantly longer and would require a stopover.
The place is supposedly a hippie destination from 60’s but some Ecuadorians told me that foreigners started to arrive on bigger scale just in the beginning of 00’s. Accordingly, the town has a strong bohemian vibe with a lot of alternative people from all over the world, smoking weed and surfing during the day and going out at night. Of course not everyone has dreadlocks, tattoos and piercing all over their body but it’s something you should expect. Some people do not even bother entering the clubs as they prefer to hang out and party on the beach.
I stayed here from before the New Years’ Eve till the end of first week of January and it was packed with people, especially on the weekends. I really enjoyed my time here and I wish I could stay more but I would need to slow down with partying a bit.
3.Girls
A)Latinas
Argentineans – Majority of latinas in Montañita. It’s a popular destination for Argentineans in general so plenty of them come here to spend university vacation (it’s mid-December until March as far as I am concerned), but there are a few that work and live in Montañita. Usually hang out in duos or trios. A lot of hipster types but you can find regular ones as well. Quality is decent for this hippie town, normally highest among other latinas. I have never been to Argentina but I assume that they become more open and sluttier here.
Chileans – From my observations, they usually hang out in bigger group then Argentines, often mixed groups including one or two dudes, travelling together from Chile. Not as hipster as Argentines but the fact that they are in bigger and mixed groups makes it harder to isolate. Pretty similar quality and attitude to Argentine. If you manage to isolate and build serious attraction you may score within this group.
Ecuadorians – Quite a lot of them, especially on the weekends with the influx from the commercial hub of Ecuador - Guayaquil. Usually with a group of friends. Initially, I thought that Ecuadorian chicks won’t be attractive at all but luckily there are a few that are pretty decent. Easier to flirt with, better attitudes then two first groups and almost no hipsters. If you are good-looking Caucasian you will definitely receive some IOIs. Isolate, show some value, differentiate yourself from the other gringos and it’s pretty easy to score.
Peruvians – sizable group, right after Ecuadorians. Usually travel from Lima in the group of girlfriends 3+. I haven’t seen any indigenous looking chicks but the quality was rather low. I just found some Limeñas of Asian descent really attractive. In general, they seem harder to isolate and not very down to fuck. Would not bother unless you can find done that obviously seems receptive to your game.
Colombians – quantity almost on par with Peruvians. Most of the girls are on university holidays from Cali and Southern Colombia, sprinkled with some Bogotanas. I guess there are barely any when the semester starts in February in Colombia. These girls are not the best representation of what you would find in their motherland but the quality better than Ecuadorian, Peruvians and some Chileans. They rarely look hipster, just hippie at heart (read: hornier and sluttier). Attitudes are good, especially if you speak Spanish and have something to say about Colombia. Simply a good target.
Venezuelans – I met just few of them. However, none of them were on vacation but they were temporarily working there. Quality was similar to Colombians if not better. Try to flirt a bit while they are working, get number as soon as possible and chat the up to meet later.
Rest of Latinas – Haven’t seen any other latinas. Some Argentineans told me that they met two Uruguayan chicks. Mexicans, Central Americans and Brazilians were unheard of. What a pity.
B)Western Europeans and Anglosphere
The proportion of these girls was around 30% comparing to Latinas, by my estimation. I did not game them neither did I pay attention to them here as I am simply disinterested about that group (expect for Romance-speaking Europeans but haven’t seen any of them here). From what I noticed there are either Germanic Europeans or Americans, Australians and Kiwis. I guess regular Western style game combined with good logistics would work here. Interestingly, I saw some duos of an ugly Ecuadorian dude and a gringa hanging out solo on the beach. No idea if they bang them, however.
4.Game
Day game - show-up on the beach enjoying yourself. It helps a lot if you surf and/or are muscular. Most of the guys here are skinny or out of shape so if you have just a little bit of muscles, you would have a huge advantage. Some accessories such as cool shades, nice bracelets or decent panama/phedora hat are definitely a plus. If you smoke weed and you notice your target enjoying this vice just ask if they have papers/lighter or offer a blunt and ramble on. Ideally, you would be rolling with a wingman and you will be opening duo’s of chicas sunbathing. Just look like cool dudes who are here to have a good time. Make plans with chicas for later on or invite them for a drink if your logistics are fine and girls are receptive enough.
Night game – dress comfortable but stylish. I was wearing white guayabera, linen shorts and boat shoes and I was dressed better than 99% of the dudes. It can be a little too hot for long trousers. Go to the Cocktail Street, sit down and enjoy your drink. Screen your possible targets for the night. It very probable that you will bump into them during that night as the place is small. The action does not really start until 11pm. If you enter clubs, approach you target, chat and dance with her for a while. To isolate (very important if she’s with friends) tell her that you want to get a cocktail from the Cocktail Street. Get the cocktails and tell her that you want to talk on the beach. Sit on the sand, listen to the waves and ramble on. As soon as you’re finished with cocktails, tell her that you have a good liquor at your place you want share with her/you want to rest a bit. If she agrees, you know what to do. You may skip getting a cocktail from the Cocktail Street if you think she’s horny/drunk enough. Alternatively, you can just game chicks that are sitting on the beach in the pretty same pattern. If you are hippie at heart, try to approach some that are gathered around something what I called ´fireplace party’ provided that there is any around.
Online game – I would not bother. I used Tinder at the beginning but you run out of swipes
quick. However, some Ecuadorian chicks on vacation seemed eager to meet a gringo.
5. Venues
Coctail Street – street with plenty of bar carts along its length. Next to the cart, there are one or tables and chairs for 4 to 8 people. Some people said it reminded them of some place in Thailand but I forgot how it is called. You can get one drink from 3 USD to 4 USD. Some places offers 2 cocktails (Mojito, Caipirinha, Daiquiri as far as I remember) for 5 USD. Come here to pre-drink or take a chick you pulled out from the club.
Lost Beach – Supposedly a club that is in world TOP 50 of electronic music. They have some international DJs on the weekends. Cover 5 dollars for dudes. During my stay there was a Ladies’ week meaning chicks get for free. High quality sound systems indeed. Come here if you enjoy some good electronics, techno etc. I do liked that music but my friend and chicks I was hooking up with didn’t, so I did not spend too much time there.
Caña Grill – a club on the Coctail Street, most frequented by me. Most of the nights, the entrance is free but there is a cover for guys on the weekends after midnight. Probably the best chicks here, almost no hipsters. Various music from reggaeton, salsa and other Latin genres through pop music till rock played live. Part of the dancefloor is covered by sand. Cuba Libre is 4 USD. Did most of approaches here because of relative quality of chicks and good vibe according to me and my friend.
There is also another club on the Coctail Street I went couple of times but I forgot the name. Anyway, there were more Ecuadorians, a lot of tables, promotions of hookah, bottle of liquor and soft drinks for 50 USD (lol), so bad set-up for hooking up. There are couple of beach clubs between the town and the river but I did not attend. The further you go from the Coctail Street, the clubs are turning more into bars and restaurants.
6. Accommodation
First four nights I stayed in Hidden House hostel. It was pretty nice with good mix of Latinos and Gringos. They do parties and promos on couple of nights a week, accommodates quite a lot of people. You can smoke weed on premises. The only problem is that location is next to the river so when the sun goes down shit loads of mosquitos appear. Get yourself a repellent or don’t stay next to the river.
The rest of my days I stayed with a friend in a cabin in northern part of town, very close to the beach. It was likely 10-15 minutes walking to the center. The place was awesome, we both had private rooms and you could hear the ocean. There are a lot of surf camps and school as the waves there are best and it had some classier (if you could use this Word to describe Montanita haha) venues to eat then in the town.
I would not recommend accommodation anywhere close to the Cocktail Street. Too noisy and too much people. It’s disturbing if you want to sleep. Nevertheless, might be good if you to pull the girl to your place quickly.
Because of the super high season the prices were rather elevated. For the private room with bathroom in the hostel I splashed 70 USD a night (4 nights during the NYE weekend) and the cabin was almost 400 USD for 5 night between both of us.
7.Getting Around
Town is so small you can walk everywhere. If you want to explore surroundings you can rent a bike. If I remember correctly, it was 10 USD per day.
8.Safety
I felt secure in Montanita. The main concern for you should pickpocketing. I was robbed of my wallet and watch (don’t fell asleep drunk on the beach!). Just keep your eyes open. I only saw 2 street fights during my stay there. First one was basically Ecuadorian mobs beating up some gringo looking dude and the second one was between some random Ecuadorians.
7.Food
It’s not bad. Obviously a lot of sea food. Ecuadorian ceviche is 6 USD from the cart in the street and 7 USD from the one on the beach. In some places a bit further away from the core you can get menu of appetizer, main course and beverage during lunchtime for 3-3.5 USD. Fish soup – encebollado – in the Ecuadorian place is 2 USD. Empanadas and fried plantains on the beach 1 USD. You can get something fancy for 8USD+.
8.Stuff to Do
Surfing - I am not a surfer, but I heard the waves are decent. If you’re beginner I heard the 3 hour class is 20-30 USD all included.
Gym – I saw one gym in town but never entered.
Parasailing – something like paragliding but you’re pulled by the boat. Loads of fun. Ask the guys on the beach. 20 USD for 15 minutes.
Isla de la Plata – called the Galapagos for the poor. Still pretty beautiful scenery. Walk around the island and bird-watch blue-footed bubis. Do some snorkeling, see the colorful fishes and big turtles (not as huge as on Galapagos though). Going stoned recommended. The day tour cost me 45 USD.
Islote Salango – little island by the coast by the village of Salango 45 minutes from Montañita. You can do snorkeling or scuba-diving, not as good as de la Plata though.
Playa de los Frailes – Beautiful beach, 40 minutes north on bus. Part of the national parks, the rangers guard the entrance and its open only until 4PM. You cannot bring smokes or joints inside as they search you but hide it well, don’t litter and voila! Go on the sunny day.
Dos Mangas – some waterfalls and natural pools, takes 2 hours walking from the town to get there.
9.Trip report
Day 1
Arrived at Guayaquil airport at 4.30pm. Went to the bus station, taxi cost 4USD. Met my Mexican friend. We get on the bus but we have separate seats. The light on the bus is so weak I cannot even read. Shit, how boring! The whole trip I am gazing at stupid Hollywood comedy with Adam Sandler dubbed in Spanish.
After 3 hours we arrived to Montanita. It’s 9pm, and it does not look like a lot of action. I check-in and entered a hostel my Mexican friend. The dude still did not have an accommodation and I told the receptionist he is only going to leave his bags. The party in the garden is full mode on, I guess everybody though we are gay lol. Although it looked good, we did not join and went to explore the town. People were still not out yet so we just were just hanging around drinking beer. Meanwhile amigo was looking for the hostel. At one of them, while he was talking to receptionist I opened a mixed group of Chileans. I rambled on but my mate didn’t seem interested so I just got the number from the one that gave my most interest and we went to the beach. For the next couple of hours, we drank 2 bottles of Ecuadorian rum (the shittiest rum I ever had IMHO but cheap af) and flirt with plenty of chicks but no results. Around 4AM my drunken naturalist spirit told me to lay down and listen to the waves. We felt asleep…
Day 2
…and woke up after 6AM on the beach.
-Dude, where the fuck is my wallet? We asked ourselves at the same time.
Went back to hostel. I told the guard that my buddy is staying with me lol. Now, they must have been thinking we’re gays. Anyway I crushed on my bad and the Mexican slept on the hammock next to my room.
Woke up around 1PM and felt like shit. We spent our day walking along the beach, bullshitting and drinking beer. We decided to spend NYE pre-party in the hostel. Met some Peruvians and Portuguese dudes and drank with them. An hour and a half before midnight we went to the beach to celebrate the beginning of 2017. Shit loads of people on the beach, tons of fireworks and people burning giant dolls (Ecuadorian tradition, pic below). Vibe is crazy, hippie and cool. People jumping through the fireplaces, getting shitfaced and having fun.
We have lost our company, therefore we went to the town to look for some chicas. Did some approaches that led to nowhere, the streets were overcrowded and the chicks had attitudes. We went back to the beach and sat down. Then, a very reflective thought came to my mind.
‘Damn, I have get laid tonite’
Suddenly, I saw a chick who was just by herself. She had some weird tattoo on the back. I walked to her leaving my friend and ask her ‘What does it mean?’ (thanks 30 Bangs by Roosh V). She appeared to be Ecuadorian from Quito, 5 years older than me, pretty big boobs, nice ass and face, overall splendid as for Ecuador. I kept talking with her around 20-30 minutes and told her that I have an awesome bottle of tequila in my place and if she wants to try. She agrees so we moved to my hostel. I was worried I would be cockblocked by the guard but he didn’t ask anything. BINGO! We drank Tequila and after little resistance we were in my bed. I was too annoyed with searching for condoms so I did her raw 3 times. Ecuadorian flag captured! A pleasant beginning of 2017 I must admit.
Afterwards, we agreed that we have to find our respective friends. We went back to the beach and I found my Mexican buddy. The dude felt asleep again and now they robbed his smartphone. Shit. I felt sorry for him being robbed two nights in row. The chick disappeared looking for her friends. I tried to cheer him up by smoking some weed. He was not in the mood for a blunt so we went back to hostel.
Day 3
My friend was pissed off about what happened so he took a bus to Quito. I spent my day trying to block the debit card from my stolen wallet, booking a tour to Isla de la Plata for the following day, reading a book, chilling on the hammock and checking out Tinder. I matched with some Peruvian chick and I went to her place at 5PM that was supposed to be a cabin. She was not that good but hey gotta capture that Peruvian flag. It was far away from the center so I had to take a taxi. It appeared to be a hostel with cabins. We drank a beer and I told her to see the sunset on the beach. I managed to make out with her but the conversation was going heavy. She signaled that she want to spend some time with her friend now. No Peruvian flag for me this time. I went back to the hostel and reflected that I should have asked her to come to my place instead. Decided to ditch Tinder during my stay. In the hostel I drank some rum and chatted a bit with some Germans and Peruvians. Approached an Argie chick that sit next to us but I ran out of steam quickly. Tired after two nights of drinking and having a tour a following day at 8:30am I decided to call it a night and went to sleep.
Day 4
Tour was chill. Walking around the uninhabited island, snorkeling and watching tropical animals helped me recuperated and gain some energy. I wish I had been stoned. Unfortunately, no interesting people met.
Went back to hostel. Drank beer with Peruvians. We talked about things to see in Peru. Peruvian chicks and ayahuasca. I concluded I not ready for this stuff yet, so I will just focus on banging chicks and sightseeing on my trip to Peru. The Peruvians seemed to be overexcited about the Scandinavian blond chicks doing their gap year travelling around the whole world that were sitting nearby. Afterwards, the gathering became larger and an obnoxious Australian convinced everyone to play a drinking game with the objective of drinking a shot of beer every minute for 100 minutes. While playing he ran some douchebag game on the Scandinavians, cockblocking the Peruvians. Poor guys.
Finally, we went out around 11am with the people from the hostel. Apparently, all the clubs were closed on Monday. The Aussie dude was so drunk he could not stand still and Scandinavians were put off by his behavior. There were few people in the town and I was not in the mood to approach. I just went with a German, a Peruvian and an English to smoke a joint on the beach. We were debating about something I cannot remember for an hour and went back to sleep. I thought I may be getting to old to stay in hostels.
Day 5
Checked out from the hostel at 12AM and met with my very good Peruvian friend who just arrived. Good to see ypu after a long time bro! He was with a Peruvian chick that happened to be his company on the bus and was looking for her friends. Not pretty but pleasant to hang around with. We went to our cabin, get ourselves sorted out. Afterward we went to eat out and bumped on her friends on the beach. They were not highest quality but bangable, accompanied by two other Peruvian dudes and one Bogotano.
My mate suddenly disappeared. I looked around and saw him talking to two chicks. I walked towards them and we all conversed for a while. They were Argentineans from Cordoba, first one chubby with a cute face and second one slim with alright face. Initially I struggled to understand their accent as I haven’t met a lot of Argentineans so far. We took their numbers and made plans to meet in the evening and walked to our cabin. We met with Argies at the bar in the town. Drank some cocktails, talked about random bullshit but it was going well, there was a flow. Then we went to Lost Beach club, not so many people yet (10.30PM). I like techno so I enjoyed the vibe there, but my Latino group finds it too soulless. At some point, the slimmer one asked me if I wanted to smoke. We went on the patio where I teased her a bit and she seemed receptive. My friend comes with the chubby one, we talked a bit together then the chicks went to toilet. He tells me I should go for a kiss with the slimmer one because she was complaining to the chubby one that she is not sure if I like her. Tranquilo papa, there is time for everything. Guess we’re swapping our targets today. Latinos have enough of electronica so we moved to Caña Grill. Danced a bit more and we asked them if they want to come try pisco in our cabin. We drank some aguardiente after dinner and we hit the clubs. We approached a lot of chicks but without any success. In the meantime, we bumped into Argies from yesterday. Nice talking to you girls but we have some more approaches to do. In Caña Grill I saw group of 5 Asian-looking gals. I became curious as I haven’t seen any people from Asia around here. I asked them if they from China. They said that they are from Peru but have Japanese descent. They all look at least decent so kept on rambling. I chose the one that seemed most into me and we started some serious perreo to the sounds of reaggeton. I told her to go have drink with me. She said ok but she says she has to stick around her friends. No worries, I won’t bite you. We talked a bit more and went back to the dancefloor but after a while she told that her friends are leaving and she has to go with them. No Peruvian flag for me again.
Went back to friend we bumped into our Peruvian hang-out chick, her friends, their orbiters and the bogotano from yesterday. The latter asked me if I wanna try something. Why not? He put LSD into my mouth. Cheers mate, hadn’t had that for ages. We hang around an hour more on the beach. My amigo tells me to go home as it’s already 4AM and we have a tour at 9AM. He convinced our hang-out Peruvian girl to come with us and sleep in our house as tomorrow we have to go together and she agreed. I tried to persuade one of her Peruvian girlfriend to come with us but I failed. I was either the fault of acid or she was not drunk. Whatever. Our trio went back to cabin. We drank one pisco and smoked a joint. The girl did not seemed interested to have a threesome with us, so my naturalist instinct told me that I’d better swim in the Pacific. So I did. I barely slept one hour that night.
Day 7
I woke at 8AM and I zombie walked to the meeting place for the tour. Still felt that acid. Slept the whole way to the Islote Salango. The guide told us it’s forbidden to smoke on the boat so we quickly lit a joint on the beach. The snorkeling was pretty nice but not as good as en la Plata. We met two Argie dudes in their 30s and two Argie chicks around 20. Get along with them well. Before heading to los Frailes where smoking is also forbidden we lit another joint together with Argies. Chicks seemed excited, they may have not smoked before. We talked some more on the beach but I mostly slept. Come back to Montañita and killed the munchies with empanada gigante and ceviche. Life is good.
We went back to the cabin for three hour siesta and felt refreshed afterwards so we started with aguardiente again. Met with Argie dudes on the Cocktail Street after 10PM. Eventually we went to Caña grill where everyone quickly chose their target. After couple of approaches I started dancing with one chick. She was pretty hot and dressed little slutty. Turned out she’s 35 yo Ecuadorian living in Canada on vacation. 5 minutes later I suggested a cocktail outside. After getting a drink we went on the beach and we talked. She told me she is divorced, marriage is boring and I shouldn’t do it. I replied that I don’t plan to and asked why she broke up with her husband. She said that he was not giving her enough sex.

Chilled with them for a bit and went to have lunch together. I concluded that Argentine personality has be the least latin of all latinos. Said good bye and farewell my friend. Good times bro. I texted the Colombiana from yesterday. I chilled out with her and her friends on the beach. Around sunset I went to my place. I will miss this place.
The Colombiana texted me a picture of beer around 10PM. I asked her where she was and went to that place. It was Saturday so there were shit loads of people especially Ecuadorians. We drank a beer with her friends in a bar but the conversation was slow because of loud music and my overall tiredness. Then we went to Caña Grill but it is the same story. I do not feel motivated anymore and I used a line of last resort of cocktail + beach talk as I told her that I cannot speak with her the way I wanted inside the club. We sat on the sand and actually had a meaningful conversation and she tells me I am a special person. Thanks. After finishing a drink, honest as I was, I told her that I want to make love with her and swim in the Pacific all night. She said that she couldn’t do it because she didn’t want to leave her friends for a long time but she said we can rest a bit in my cabin. Fair enough, bonita. Back in my place I poured her a drink and after some resistance I banged her and talked a bit after sex. She was a one of few intellectually stimulating Latinas I met. I liked her. Went back to the beach and met her friends. We played some Latino drinking games with them and a random Ecuadorian dude. Went back home and felt asleep shortly after.
Day 10
Off to Guayaquil, too much fiesta.
Conclusion
Overall, I enjoyed my experience in Montanita. I think I could live there for some time during my 20s. After 30, it might get to fucked up but I saw some 60 yo Gringos enjoying themselves here. The only think I regret is not doing enough day game and not trying surfing. I wish I got my Chilean and Peruvian flag here but there is still time.
If you speak Spanish, are in your 20s, like to party, surf and want to collect South American flags, you should definitely pay Montanita a visit. I will come back if I am around Ecuador.
