Vietnam Adventure "Voluntourism"

I am interested in doing this Vietnam adventure philanthropy bike tour.

In addition to being a resume builder (for those who care), it is a great way to explore Vietnam, make a meaningful impact, and possibly get fit from all the biking.

It seems they have steep discounts on this next trip.

Anyone interested?

I know two people who have done it that have said it was life changing.

Pay to work. These programs are not attractive to me. If all I had to pay for was airfare, then I'd consider it. But many of these volunteer projects charge a program fee that can be a 3 or 4 grand for 4 weeks.

It seems that most of the money goes to administrative costs/overhead. I'm sure you could set something up by yourself by contacting charity organizations and building leads that way, or even embassies. The fact that you took initiative to do that instead of paying some cookie-cutter organization would look a lot better on your resume, too.
