Getting married abroad for $$$

My friend told me that he married a girl in Vietnam a couple years ago for 35K plus travel expenses.
I never saw the girl but did see a wedding photo. He said she came here and went directly to college in NY.
He's a funny dude(coke problem) and did get a cash injection so I tend to believe him.
He is American with German and Vietnamese family.
Is this for real?

Yep. An American girl I know was offered 20K to marry some dude. Another acquaintance of mine was offered a similar sum. It seems that a lot of this goes on.

In Denmark it happens too, though they've started cracking down on it and checking up on people. People have to live together (or at least pretend to) for a while after they get married. Don't know how much they check in the US.

I would do this for the right money. My friend works for INS in Tampa it wouldn't be hard on me.
So how do you make yourself 'available'?

My guess is you have to know someone. Start looking up immigration lawyers and offering them a percentage. Shouldn't be too hard if money is involved.

A Russian chick had an ad on Craigslist for this very thing. I think she and the guy that married her got busted and may serve 10 years or so. I can't post any links to the story since I am new but you can look it up on the net.

I'm scHocked at how many men are willing to put a cheap price tag on their freedom. Not only is there a ton of bullshit you have to go through to make sure you are not caught, you give up your freedom to travel the world at will because you have to be available at the last second for any surprise investigations.

Is 20k that attractive? Seriously? 20k is shit money for what you are giving up and she is getting in return. I'm spending more than that on video/technical equipment to film myself in Colombia for entertainment and educational purposes for petes sake!!

Getting married abroad for $$$

Getting married for $$$ is not very profitable once you include the costs of divorce.

A much more profitable immigration scam is opening a nursing home (can be as small as 4 beds) and hiring women to be nurses under the H-1B immigration program. As the business owner, you fill out the paperwork to give them a 3 year work visa. It can be renewed once for an additional 3 years. And then they have to return to their home country so you don't have to deal with them ever again. In reality these girls are working under the table at crap-ass unskilled sweatshop jobs or in backroom kitchens untaxed (or if Hispanic, working in an illegal "grow house"), they pay you for the bed rental for their non-existent relative, and you pay them back the laundered money minus your cut. I'm sure if someone paid you $35k up front lump sum you could include them in your worker list and get them a work visa for a job they'll never show up to the same as the others on your "staff". Nursing homes need people working shifts 24 hours a day, after all.

The H-1B scam also works with fake high tech companies. Every Indian cab driver you talk to is a "Software Contractor at a High Tech Company between jobs." Yeah right. The worst was an Indian landlord Lakireddy Bali Reddy in Berkeley --he was bringing in 14 year old sex slaves to a fictitious high tech company, all of whom had fake Computer Science Degrees from non-existent universities so they qualified for the H-1B visa program, despite the fact that most of them couldn't even read (The H-1B program oversight is that stupid) . He ran his prostitution ring just fine until some of them died on the job. Silicon Valley calls these fake high tech companies "paper tigers" --they tout how great their contractors are on paper to look good to immigration, but in reality all their staff are cab drivers and hookers paying the owner under the table to stay on his books. Occasionally a new out-of-town manager will make the mistake of calling up one of these fake companies and actually hiring their know-nothing contractors for a real job. Guaranteed career ending move.

I think immigration fraud is bad, and it's illegal. But if you're thinking about pulling a scam, be aware there's far more profitable, and subject to far less oversight, immigration scams than a fake green card marriage that you could only run with one woman at a time.

"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."

Exactly.

I was once offered 20k (or so) to marry a Brazilian girl.

I started laughing so hard it took me two weeks to get my laughter under control.

Which is why all Indian tech support specialists and Indians coming to take-over tech jobs for dirt cheap are like this guy:

Hard to pull now, things changed significantly after 1999. First, there is a special visa for nurses (H1-C) and they're required to pass the exam. Second, now the embassy indeed checks the diplomas, and H1B requires at least bachelor's degree; you cannot get H1B for an unskilled worker/position. So to pull it you need to have some major connections at least in the consulate overseas.

Indeed. Get a real job guys. 20K is an achievable two month salary for an IT professional.
