Central America or Asia

Central America or Asia

I'm 22 and doing a 9 month marketing internship - chose to do this as I asn't sure what career path I want. I've decided it's not what I want to do but as soon as I've finished the internship I ant to travel for a month as this will be the only time in my life i can just "take a month off" (I won't be able to do that when I have a career working full time). I've made a list of places that interest me:

Option 1: Central America & some Caribbean
Would love to go to Costa Rica & Nicaragua. Possibly Mexico and Guatemala too.
Then travel into the Caribbean. Considering Grenada, Cuba, Puerto Rico.

Option 2: Asia
The 2 I'd love to go to the most are Sri Lanka and The Philippines. In addition, I could possibly throw in one of these countries which I'm considering Japan, Myanmar (Burma), Bhutan. Possibly even fly into Australia.

I'll be going around my 23rd birthday in July. Plan is to go for 1 month.

Looking for somewhere with friendly, authentic locals with a different culture to Westernised life. Picturesque views would be nice. Ease of travel is important (eg reliablity, understanding at least some English). Reasonably priced (I'll have money saved up from working for 9 months and living with family however I'll be somewhere between a budget traveler and being in the mid range). Also looking for somewhere with lots to do as I can get bored easily. Safety is important too however for someone of my age I am well traveled. I'd rather spend time with the locals than be in a built up resort - I like to learn about others ways of life.

Could you help me choose which option and what you think of my country choices - do any of them sound like they are what I'm looking for (or perhaps not what I'm looking for?

1. Weather
Unfortunately July, August are not great months to go to places near the equator. Usually the first 3 months of the year are the best times you would want to visit Central America or South Asia. The weather will likely be very humid and rainy. Checkout a website for monthly weather like weather spark or us climate data.
2. Safety
Some of the cities in Central America are not very safe for a single traveler, especially if you don't speak Spanish. It would probably be a much better trip if you could go with a friend who spoke Spanish.
3. Manila
Manila is the worst city I have ever been in. I would avoid it at all costs.

For a July trip, I would strongly urge you to consider Europe. There are some amazing cities that are very unique and with a lot of culture. The weather will be much better than the countries you are considering. You should consider cities like Barcelona, Rome, Prague, Budapest and Vienna. They are quite safe and will be easy for an English only speaker. In general, Europe is a better vacation spot than Asia or Central America.

I am too much of a snob to stay in hostels but it could be a very good way to meet people from all over the world.

Yea, skip the easiest city in the world where you can pretty much fuck a new different 6-7 every day with little to no effort or resources require.

There is more than one city in the Philippines.

And maybe 1% of women are a 6+ there. But my 6 is probably an 8 for you.

Asia is going to be more expensive than central/south America.
Sri Lanka and PI are not exactly close.

The issue with Asia is that its hard and costly to get to unless
you are location independent.

Deep down you know where you want to go. I say do it.

You are young....23-29 are the best years a single man will
ever have because you can easily smash a 20 yr window of
girls?

Why waste PRIME TIME on Philippines! lol

I am double your age and don't get too impressed with smashing
girls your age in PI. They will always be there.

If you have any game at all you don't need to goto Philippines at age
23. My 2 cents.

If you don´t speak Spanish, forget Central America, the girls are nice and easy, but i think you will have a better time in Asia. I will strongly recommend the Philippines and Cambodia, and let´s not forget Myanmar. Approaching girls are a bit difficult over there, but wow, there are really some beauties up north. Surprisingly many speak at least a bit of English as well. The people there are extremely friendly, and even tho they girls are quite shy, once you befriend them they are very eager to show you around and take care of you [Image: smile.gif]
