I don't have that much to report on here but I really want to give back to this forum because it has been an amazing travel resource for me.

Background: 24 y.o. from United States. I rock long hair and play guitar. I'm not big into clubs or shit like that. Therefore my experiences may be much much different from yours.

QUITO
I was in Quito for 5 days. It was my first stop after Colombia and I can't really express how sad I was to be leaving Colombia. I also had issues with my AirBnB which led me to getting an apartment in a pretty boring part of town. So maybe I wasn't in the best of moods and that had something to do with my experience. But Quito kind of sucked. The Old Town is cool to see, but that takes half a day. I recommend 2 or 3 days in Quito.

Transportation here is expensive if you are taking taxis. It feels even worse if you are just leaving Colombia. Shelling out $5-6 USD for a ride was a real kick in the balls (read: I had an apartment far away from everything) and it certainly made me think twice before going anywhere. If you can get the bus you should, but be warned there are many pickpocketers.

There is an area in Quito called Cumbaya that looks like it has a lot of potential. I met a chick off Tinder there to daydrink on a Friday. Of course the chick was not attractive at all. The last time I go out with a girl from the internet that doesn't have body pictures. But I digress.
Cumbaya is pretty far from everything else which means it is expensive to get there, unless you can take the bus. I took a taxi there and I think it costed about $10 but I really don't remember. You can also take a bus for $0.25. It is a green bus that will say Cumbaya on the front. I couldn't take the bus there because I didn't know where to get the bus, but I took it back home. So for those interested, the station I used was on Rio Coco.
In Cumbaya I got off at Centro Commercial. This area is very nice and is home to an upscale university. This means there are a LOT of young women around. They are Ecuadorians though, but some were cute. On the main road there are a few small cafe bars and such. This is where I went with this Tinder chick and her friends. Thankfully, her friends were really cool and fun to hang out with. Plus, daydrinking. Anyway, for those going to Quito please spend more time here because it seems like there is real potential here. There is a shopping mall that is crawling with young people. And this area is more upscale.

Back to the heart of things. In Quito the main party area is Plaza Foch which has a bunch of bars and clubs. I really wasn't feeling this place at all. It has also been spoken about enough that I really have nothing to contribute. There's a ladies night that I was unable to check out due to being locked into my apartment. Apparently it's pretty good.

Apart from Plaza Foch I went to a club with another Tinder chick. Really upscale (for me anyway). It was called "LOVE" I believe. It was on Avendia de la Republica. You need your original passport to get in here. I know because I had to go back home to get mine after not being allowed in. This is not my scene, which was a damn shame because the girl I met was fucking cute. Later I found out she was half Colombian, which explains why. I'm serious, there are not many cute Ecuadorians around. But if you like higher end clubs, check this place out.

Montanita
I spent two weeks in Montanita working at a hostel. Just something I always wanted to do. I heard this town was party central for Ecuador so I was really excited. It was cloudy every day. I wouldn't recommend this place during rainy season. Crawling with backpackers. And I really have had enough of the backpacker scene. I just don't give a shit about what your travels have been and how great of a time you are having.

You can walk everywhere at any time here. It is a very small town that is very safe. If taking a taxi, you should never be spending more than $1 from what I am told.

In Montanita you have Cocktail Alley which is the main nightlife area. The town is about 6 blocks, so its easy to see everything. During the week this place was dead, but on the weekends you could barely walk the streets. But it's filled with backpackers.
Outside of Cocktail Alley I spent a lot of time at Chi Chi's, a hostel just over the bridge. This seems to be the big hostel in the area, at least at this time. Really weed friendly. Usually I would just go there. If you are looking to get a group together to go out, this would be the place to pregame.
There is a famous club here called Lost Beach. I really don't like clubs as I've already mentioned, and I never made it here. Their busy nights are Monday, Friday, and Saturday. Everyone in Ecuador seems to know and love this place. They play EDM music from what I can gather, and the parties last until 4AM.
Hola Ola's and Cana Grill are also popular places to go, Hola Ola's has a ladies night on Wednesday or Thursday. I never went.

There is a small empanada and hamburger restaurant on the main drag of hostels just across the main road. It is a white building and it is owned by Russians. They make their own liquor and are quick to give you free shots if you hang out there. You can also buy their bottles of rum for $6. Just a cool place you may want to check out.

In Montanita I spent most of my time at the hostel as I have been applying for jobs and just doing shit I need to do. It was cloudy every day except for one, and that day the beach was packed with people. Everyone talks about how this is the place everyone vacations at in South America. Usually it is supposed to be filled with chicks from Argentina and shit, but I guess at this time of the year that is not going to happen. I saw a lot of families on the beach. I was disappointed in general.

Guayaquil
I was just in Guayaquil for a night so I really can't speak on the city, but I did get my Ecuadorian flag here. Matched with a girl on Tinder who owned a hostel. So I stayed there in her room. Smoked her weed and fucked her a few times. She wasn't the best looking and was really boring to fuck, but I got free accommodation, so fuck it.

Banos
I was really disappointed with Ecuador in general, and Banos was my last stop. I had the weekend there and was looking forward to really gaming hard here. It is known to have really great weekend nightlife. Of course I got sick here. I had cold sweats and achy joints all day on Saturday and had to skip the nightlife entirely. Banos looks like a lot of fun though. Really compact nightlife. Well, really compact everything. This is another small town. I liked it here a lot, and if I went back to Ecuador this is where I would go to party. Note: there are a LOT of tourists here from Ecuador, and because it is such a popular tourist destination prices are a lot higher. Higher than Quito and Montanita at least.

I would echo what everyone else seems to say about Ecuador. If you like outdoor shit, this is the place for you. If not, skip it. Colombia is right next door and the women are much prettier and the people are a lot friendlier.

As for me, I'm back in Colombia. And I will get a datasheet out when I have more information. Hope my info helps someone, even if it just helps you to choose not to go to Ecuador.

Thanks for the tips on Ecuador, I've certainly been hearing that more and more gringos are starting to retire there. I plan to visit more South and Central American countries next year.

Thanks for the tips on Ecuador, I've certainly been hearing that more and more gringos are starting to retire there. I plan to visit more South and Central American countries next year.

American guys got it darn lucky, because they are more closer to Latin America geographically, and their currency is valued highly.

There is this "gringo" I know who is only 26, and he is establishing himself in Mexico to Nicaragua, by using a few advice from me.

When he was in Mexico, he took a huge risk to stay in one of the most dangerous parts of Mexico near the US border, but I'm hearing how he is living comfortably in Mexico from the music gigs he receive in the United States.

To all those American men who complain about America, while the USA could probably improve, there is no place in the world where a gringo could earn at least 5,000 USD in one gig for a movie score (writing music for movies), & Mexico is only a walk away from the USA where a guy strategically sets his shop when he stays in the USA to earn money, while using his extra income to live in Mexico.

Immigrants who arrive in Canada, in particularly Toronto, are viewed as "taking away er jerbs" for applying for VOLUNTEER work to gain "Canadian experience".

That is another story, but American guys got it good.

To stay on track on the thread, Ecuador is more "indingenous culture" and the chicks I know are more Amerindian & hot, but most guys want a white, white chick like Argentinan chicks, but Argentina is notoriously known for a getaway for Nazis who were fleeing after WW2 ended.

Ecuador is fine if you like the great outdoors & a more rural approach, but if you want action & a more "Westernized club" lifestyle, the top cities in Colombia are the best fit.

Just remember that a city which is "Westernized" may have a flock of "empowered" women flooding those foreign cities, so make sure you know the order of things because no one wants to travel abroad to a tourist trap which is infested with Anglo Westerners and eat, pray, love type of women.

(Edited because a paragraph was to be removed due to it didn't complete).

Hey man thanks for the datasheet. Ill be moving there in a few weeks and its appreciated. I wanted to ask...you mentioned Tinder a few times. How is it? Ill be using it a lot at first. Are there hot girls? And how are ecuadorian girls reguarding meetups and going for drinks as a first date etc? The one you banged was she full ecuadorian? Aside from being bad in bed was she DTF right away?

Thanks

Well, consider yourself lucky. I got the same thing on my 3rd day in Ecuador, in Quito. It felt like a very bad case of cold or flu, the kind I never had since I was a child. Maybe altitude has something to do with it too, but I was completely fucked for the rest of the trip.

Got a couple of mediocre Tinder bangs in Quito before I got sick, but was out of the game for the rest of my trip. I visited Banos on my last day when I felt a little bit better, but still shitty. Also had to skip the nightlife there after a beer or two.

I'd like to come back at some point, though. It seems like a cool place with very friendly people. Banos is pretty cheap as well (Quito is more expensive, but still reasonable). Girls range from ugly to mediocre, very few attractive girls but they do exist.

Honestly Ecuadorians girls are just not that hot (in my opinion). There's a few gems about but not much. And Tinder was okay in Quito and Guayaquil, but everywhere else it sucked. I don't want to disappoint you, but Ecuador was not for me, maybe you will have better luck. The chick I banged I talked to for a few days before and she was a sexual deviant. So it was no problem, it was already set up by the time I got there. In fact, her friend was there and she was telling me that once her friend left we could fool around. My advice to you is to explore day game in an area like Cumbaya in Quito. You are going to want major cities for the sole factor that you need numbers to find hot girls. Best of luck to you, I hope Ecuador treats you well.
P.S. I hope you can speak some Spanish, because most of these girls can't

Funny you say that, I found Banos more expensive that Quito. At least in terms of meals at a restaurant. I'm really interested in the nightlife scene in Banos, it seemed really promising. From the people I talked to in Quito it seems like that is where they all go to party on the weekends. Hopefully another RVFer can fill in the blanks on this little party town for us.

Actually yes, for a short term visitor, especially during holidays, Banos seems more expensive than Quito. From what I know, for residents, the rent is cheaper in Banos than Quito for comparable apartments, so the total cost of living should be less. I'll let the guys who live there fill in the blanks. Banos seems like a cool place to hang out for a month or two.

Speaking Spanish is very important, though, I would say essential. My travel buddies in Equador speak Spanish, so it wasn't a problem for me, but without them, it would have been a lot more difficult.

Banos is cheap for accomodation, hotels are 10-15$, even a private room can be had for 15$ but most will charge 20$. Food is more expensive than in Quito because its focused on tourists. Activities are not too expensive, you can go rafting for 20$, bungeejump something similar, waterfall tour for about 10-15$, ... But don´t be mistaken guys, Baños is a small town, it´s good for a 2-4 day trip max. just to see the nature around and do the extreme sports. Besides that the only party place which is real good is the leprechaun.

Some other notes on the datasheet:

-"Shelling out $5-6 USD for a ride was a real kick in the balls": that´s because you got ripped off, you tell them to put on the taxi meter, in general rides within the city centre (which is everywhere from old town, parque carolina area, mariscal/foch) will not be over 3$ that way, unless after 7pm or if you get stuck in traffic which is between 6-8 pm. The two best areas for instance are the one around parque carolina for living and the Foch area for nightlife. From one to the other you pay 2$ at daytime and 3$ at night. Off course, when then see you are a foreigner and especially if you don´t speak spanish, they won´t use their meter and try to charge more.

-On Cumbaya: yeah, it´s the rich area, it´s ok if you like that kind of thing but I don´t. It looks American pretty much in it´s style. The women there are the hottest Quiteñas, which is not too bad, but still not up to par to the many Costeñas, Colombianas and Venezuelans you can find in Quito. They won´t live in Cumbaya for its cost. So basically it´s a decent spot if you want to get to know Ecuador´s high class. Everything is more expensive there though and like he mentioned a 10$ taxi ride (15$ at night).

-Ladies night at Bungalow/foch: best night of the week, you missed out big time.

-club ´Love´: This is where you meet the same high class people from Cumbaya plus some hot girls looking for guys with money. Place is very overpriced though, people are bit stuck up. I´d prefer to go to Lola across the street where there are better girls (equally expensive though) or maybe ´bipolar´club for the Costeñas (chicks from the coast=more colombian style). Entrance in love is I believe 15$.

Anyway, for more info check my update on the last page of my datasheet: thread-43749...ht=ecuador

Thanks for this, it does clear up a bit. And I referenced your datasheet before I got to Ecuador actually, so thank you for that. But I didn't see the updated info you posted which is very useful. Really wish I saw that before. There isn't much info on the country on RVF.

I was only in Cumbaya for an afternoon so I really didn't get a great feel for the place, I just observed the heavy traffic of younger people. In terms of nightlife there how is it? Clubs or bars? The place I went to had average prices, but it was just a hole in the wall, even though it was packed to the brim with college students.

I'm pretty pissed about the ladies night. It was my first night there, and the owner of the apartment didn't tell me I had to buzz my main door open. I spent 20 minutes at the door trying to figure out why my keys weren't working.

The price for Love was $12 for the cover when I went. It was very upscale, and definitely not my scene at all. But it did seem to attract a lot of people dressed in their very best, so it's notable in my opinion. For those who like this sort of venue.

Would you mind if I link your datasheet in my post? I think you have more useful information as someone who has spent extensive time in the country opposed to me who just visited for a few weeks

Cumbaya is almost exclusively bars and restaurants, I think there is maybe one club there, but I haven´t been. In general it´s all students there, so if that´s your thing it´s a good place.

Yeah sucks, it´s by far the easiest night for pickup. If you ever come back let me know, I pretty much own the place.

Yes , plenty of hot girls, but these are really the golddiggers of Quito. Well either those or the snobby girls who act a bit uptight. The golddiggers can be nice, just have to use a specific strategy for those. Fi Colombian/Venezuelan girls come there as well. Still too expensive for my liking and I get the same girls that go there in other places. But it gives a good view of the quality to be found in Quito I´d say.

Offcourse go ahead. Indeed I am lucky to be living here as a westerner so I know the place and the country quite well. All RVFers are more then welcome to hit me up and some have done so already. Still, good to contribute with info, all info can help, especially on lesser known places like Ecuador

Guayaquil made me feel uneasy when I was there. I didn't experience any crime but people kept talking about it. "Don't hail a taxi on the streets" et cetera.

Quito was comfortable and my match rate on Tinder was better there than in other cities I've visited in South America.

I'm curious if anyone here has spent time in Galapagos with the intention of running game on tourist girls from other latin countries. I hear there are boobies everywhere.
