Probably mostly older posters will know who he was. I mainly watched The McGlaughlin Group to see Pat Buchanan and for that it became a sort of weekly ritual that I looked forward to. Sad to see his passing and the end of an era.

"Bye bye!"

If only you knew how bad things really are.

I think one of the best selections for the panel was:

1: Jack Germond from The Baltimore Sun
2: Robert Novak
3: Eleanor Clift
4: Mortimer Zuckerman

I was hoping that he would make it past the election.

God damn it, I had just gotten into watching this show over the past few years. It was pretty entertaining as well as enlightening. I found it funny how the "McLaughlin Group" heading at the end of the show looked liked it hadn't changed since 1983.

Holy shit he died ? I remember one of my uncles always watching his show. I loved it and it got me political early.

Pate and Eleanor were my favorites and the occasional guest on the panel.

Politics has changed so fucking much since the 90's when I watched it.

The man is a legend in my book. RIP

RIP liked his show even though Eleanor Clift annoyed the hell out of me.

I always thought the guest format was clever: sjw, moderate libtard, cuckservative, and libertardian.

I was still watching the show on Sunday morning early in my marriage (about 12 years ago). The show kind of shocked my wife. She would ask, "why are they yelling at each other?" They don't have open political discussion like that (back then) in her home country on TV.

Yes, but you really needed someone like Eleanor on the panel so at least there would be a presentation from that side of the political spectrum, and she was polite about the whole setup, which made it work.

I remember one time I drove back from New York on a Friday, and got back to my area in MA about an hour before the show was on. It was summer and I remember just about melting while I had been in New York earlier that afternoon and it was in the low 90s there.

Eleanor was on the show that day, which I think is taped early afternoon on Friday in the Washington DC area, so it must have been almost 100 where she was. My friend and I were amazed to see Eleanor was wearing a turtleneck sweater, even though it must have been almost 100F in her area. In all fairness, maybe they really crank up the AC in the television studio, but still, I couldn't believe it.
