Older players, any stories from the 70s?

Any players here that were running game in the 70s? I was not yet born, but I'm sure at least a handful of you were in your 20s during that time. Any interesting stories?

Anyone who was in their 20s for any part of the 1970s would at minimum be pushing 60 years old now. Stories from the late 1980s might be the best that could be hoped for, but by that point HIV/AIDS had arrived on the scene, and things had changed forever.

My first year of college was 1996, and even then it was certainly a simpler time. Internet know-it-alls like to wax philosophical about how "hookup culture" is a new thing, but from someone with experience it feels to me like the mid to late 90s was definitely the Golden Age of fast sex for guys in their 20s.

Not a completely uninteresting question though, for a troll.

Game wasn't particularly necessary in the 1970s. Women were still being encouraged to get involved with men who were kind and could be good providers. That's not to say that the bad boys didn't get more pussy, but plenty of women were available for typical beta chumps (I was one). I could have had a better sex life with game, but I had a pretty good one anyway. Today, a huge number of men, including myself, are hated for being kind and capable of being a good provider. But I'm not bitter...

I qualify by age and one of my three worthless liberal arts degrees is in History so let me try. Warning this may be long so if you're in a TLDR mode skip it.

I graduated from high school in the late 1960's. The rules of courting were beginning to change but basically you had to be going steady, be engaged or pledge your undying love to your girl to get anywhere in those days. I'd estimate that maybe 15% tops of young women were what we called "loose" back then and if you wanted to "score" your best bet was to approach that group. Kind of like the opposite of today's reality where 15-20% of men are monopolizing the majority of women.

Things really began to change in the 1970's. First of all drugs, which were mostly confined to certain sub strata of society were now endemic among young white kids everywhere. It seemed like almost everybody smoked weed at least casually and harder drugs of the upper and downer variety were around too. Feminism became an in thing but it was not yet the toxic variety we have now. Mostly women claiming to want "equality" in all phases of life. It actually was a boon to us guys because now all of a sudden more women were open to ONS and relationships that involved a sex life that was like that of a married couple. The drugs, the feminism and more important the pill had just blown up the social landscape. I lived with two women outside of marriage in the early and middle 70's. The first one drop dead gorgeous and 5 inches taller than me. Yes short guys could be players back then too.

After Nixon resigned in 1974 the American economy went into a deep recession, the worst since the Depression up until then. I come from a rough blue collar environment and it seemed like EVERYBODY I knew was laid off. I took a Greyhound Bus tour of the states and when I came back home there were still no jobs. Still we're young and most are getting unemployment and/or doing side work for cash so there was a little money floating around. I had a good friend who was a born hustler and he would rent rooms in high end hotels and throw parties that would knock your socks off. He'd charge a nominal fee and you'd be surprised how many people you could cram in a hotel suite. The booze, weed, women and music would flow freely. If you had a pulse you had a good time. Chances for hooking up were good. A couple of guys partnered up with women they ended up marrying. Let me emphasize, we partied hard. Like I said a blue collar environment and even our women who had discovered feminism wanted and craved our company. I wish I could bend space and time so you could experience these events. There was always a party and only occasionally did it involve alcohol fueled fisticuffs. We all pretty much knew each other and if an outsider wanted to make an issue it was dealt with quickly and firmly.

By the mid and late 70's many of my friends and cohorts were married or preparing to do so. A surprising number are still married today. However, sometime in the mid to late 1980's I did an inventory of 20 or so married couples that I knew at least casually. Now I didn't have video proof but it appeared to me that 65% of the men and 35% of the women had cheated at some point in the marriage. Word gets around. Many of them were my friends. There was a lot of divorce, I can't give exact percentages, but second marriages seemed to work better than the research I read which claimed second marriages are very problematic. As previously stated a surprising number of couples in my age group have stayed married for the duration, some surviving cheating by one or even both parties.

A number of guys I knew, some very good friends, did extremely well with the ladies. I'm not going to go into chapter and verse because I have no right to out them in any way even though off course I would mention no names or other identifying features. I'm in my mid 60's so a lot of guys and gals I once knew are no longer with us.

In short this is a very brief capsulized observation. It was in the 70's when the real seismic changes took hold. It was a topsy turvy time. The economy was hot and cold, and this is the beginning of the long term economic decline of the USA. In fact it is the beginning of the end of many once good and traditional things. We didn't realize it at the time, we were just young and trying to grab a hold of life and yes we had a great time doing it.

I owe a large part of my ability with women to my uncles (RIP) who were also a product of those times. I would even sneak upstairs long enough to witness a few wild card parties, and choke off dense Newport smoke while my uncle & his "lady friend" did the Bump to an Ohio Players record.

I could listen to stories all day of how those players put it down back then.

First time I've been in Jakarta was in 1988, and in Brasil (oddly enough, I began with Belem) was in 1990 (and travelled extensively in Indonesia and Brasil -and some other places- for 10/12 years, till I became enamoured with the FSU). At this era, you travelled blind (no internet forums, thus no idea about where to go when on site and what you could expect there) ...it was great, true adventure, not an era for hesitant and timorous pussies. You had to be quite Alpha to go to Manaus or Antinanarivo without any information. Nowadays ...hmmmm ...I won't elaborate.

The first "sex oriented travel site" (worldsexguide- which admittedly was mainly about P4P, but there was also some posters who were "players"), was founded by a guy named Atta in the mid 90's, but declined, and then a guy named Jackson revived it in the late 90's - to become the infamous ISG.

Was just a parenthesis about internet ressources in the 90's - almost none. No RVF, no Tripadvisor, no Fourquare, no Airbnb. You were on your own. But the White God Factor .......it was even too much.

Shameful! How can you mention the Ohio Players without including an album cover or two?

All.

First time I saw a sculpted one in the early 80's I had no idea what was going on.

It was a landing strip, but reminded me of one of these snakes.

In other words, shaving back then was weird. In case you didn't know, snakes like these are the worst prizes you can win at a carnival.

Most young guys can't comprehend the 70s. The drinking age was 18, a six pack cost $3, there was no AIDS, and girls were thin with no fake tits. Nobody had tattoos and everybody smoked. There were no computers or video games. TV had 3 channels. People were a million times more social. If you didn't have a car you were a nobody.

I was young but I remember folks throwing rent parties back in the 70's, people around me didn't have much but they seemed a lot happier.

We had each other

Nowadays these anti-social nerds barely make eye contact with their neighbors

So sad

My last good year was 1979. Gives you some idea how old I am. [Image: smile.gif]
To tell you the truth, it was never a poosy paradise unless you knew your game real good and most college guys back then didn't. There were a few who had different women around every night, more with steady girlfriends, and a whole lotta guys who never got laid at all. Yes, the bar scene was a lot easier to navigate, but you still had to have some skills. No AIDS to worry about, but plenty of shotgun marriages.
Shit was getting real on the home front. Although not as old as Scorpio, I do remember all the marriages breaking up from a high school perspective in the 70's. Plenty of my classmates had to choose between which parental unit they wanted to live with. A lot of kids messed up bad over it. These were the days of TV movies with titles such as "Sarah: Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic" and "Maybe I'll Come Home in the Spring".
Do I miss those days? Parts of them. I miss the discovery of a new vinyl album by a band I didn't know. I miss the rumors about great movies that suddenly showed up at the local art cinema. All said, it's a wash. The past is ashes, after all.

I was a young child in the 70s, but this thread reminds me that if we make to old age, there will be a time when 2016 seems as distant from the present as the 1970s does to us now. Carpe diem!

I was a little kid then, so no stories. But even as a young 'un, I knew a babe when I saw one, and this is probably the standard by which I came to judge all women. Extra points if y'all know who it is. (Hint: She was hotter than "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!")

I doubt there was more "free pussy" available in the 60s than there is now. Remember that many women were still quite conservative back then, waiting for a provider to lock down before opening the legs.

The free love thing was more about the shifting attitude towards sex than any sort of hedonistic paradise.

(This is all conjecture, I don't have any statistics to back it up, but if anyone finds any, let me know).

I didn't hit puberty until the early 1970s, so I can't comment on the previous decade. I will say that while there may not have been "more" pussy back then than now, it was a lot more evenly distributed.

I went to Europe in 1973. Back then, going to Europe was like going to a third world country today. A hotel I stayed at in Paris only had hot water for 1 hour in the mornings. Americans were relatively novel and it was easy to start up conversations on the train with women. Women in France were especially friendly. I hooked up with a girl from Aix-en-Provence on the night train from Paris to Marseilles.

Good call, though.

I've written articles related to this, and from what people have told me, the wild years started around Woodstock (1969) and ended when AIDS entered the public consciousness (1982-83).

I'm old enough to remember when the media first reported about AIDS. If you all think the media is hysterical about Trump now, you should have seen them about AIDS then. It was going to EXPLODE into the straight community! No no was safe!! It's not just gays!! OMG!!!

Of course, none of that was true. I once compiled images of a bunch of hysterical anti-AIDS magazine covers from the '80s to make this point. I can't find my old links this second, but here are two good ones:
