And oh yeah - the diverse crowd of suitors, especially the wheelchair girl is totally hilarious. No one with a beard trough.

And at least but not last, note that the child is more progressive and liberated then his parents in this story - he gives a speech and the adults agree to his values! Gone are the days of an old sage giving advice to the young as in classical tales. So this story also programs children that their parents are dumb and have no moral authority to pass judgements on what is best for their children and must agree to what values the child brings into family from government run education centers.

Marlowe's Edward II leaps to mind. Not just because of the gay content but because in the play, a king who neglects his wife, legacy and kingdom to idle with a gay malingerer and leech loses all and is murdered (and in real life, in a particularly gruesome way). A bit of a stretch to show that to kids, but still better than this.

And why is it that modern kid's stories seem to be about gratification, not adventure? Children absorb bad messages most easily when they're young, and the product of this story isn't just that homosexuality is aspirational, but that actions should have no consequences.

I cannot help but think that there will eventually be a massive backlash against this crap. I consider myself socially liberal. But bringing this stuff to the kids, grade school kids mind you, is way over the top. Plainly speaking, this is the grooming of children for sexual exploitation as far as I'm concerned. That the "liberals" promulgating this crap have never stopped for a moment to think maybe this is wrong and they need to stop, or they will eventually be made to stop, means that they completely lack insight. Mentally ill people also lack insight. Thus, it is reasonable to assume that many "liberals" are mentally ill.

What they should be concerned about is the possibility of a massive backlash. Because once they get going, things get out of control real fast and they may find themselves as real victims of the backlash very quickly. Hell hath no fury like the righteous.

I think the way homosexuality was handled in sex ed when I was growing up was about right. It was mentioned in passing as something that exists. I doubt we spent more than a minute or two on it in the whole course. I feel the same way about being gay that I feel about someone wanting to become a professional actor. Ignore it and only those few who can't see their lives any other way will pursue it. Sadly, we're never going back to that.

At my last high school reunion, one of my super tolerant friends has a kid who is 'transitioning'. One of my college friends also has a kid (third-world adoption) who transitioned a few years back. I've gotten good at smiling and nodding.

I agree except wouldn't be surprised if a lot of female teachers were aware what gayness does to boys. A lot of women in "education" seem pretty fucking malicious.
