How do you deal with depression?

Girls expect us to be clowns all the time (there was a post on Roosh's website a few weeks ago). If I stop being funny, humorous for a second, there is always another guy on the line ready to make her laugh...

But depression is part of life, and I'm personally going through it since a few days.

First off, please use the search function. There are plenty of threads discussing depression that are filled with good, thoughtful advice.

Second, we will need more personal information (age, occupation, etc.) before we could give you specific advice.

A few days? This is not depression, this is just being "down".

If we didn't feel down at anytime, then we also wouldn't feel joy. It's all part of the human condition. Embrace that feeling and let it be the impetuous for change, because essentially that's what your brain/emotions are telling you in a round-about way. "This approach is not providing the result that I desire, I must try something else that will fulfil what I truly need". Often hard to quantify or verbalise, but you know it when you reach it.

You sound young by the way, too young to have ever experienced pervading/insidious/soul crushing depression (which I don't wish upon anyone).

Personally, I see depression like a hunger of the soul. If you go too long without food, you get hungry, and will eventually die from starvation. If you go too long without fulfilling your emotional needs, a similar fate awaits.

Indeed.
Depression is a long, deep, dark and mentaly crippling state of the mind, which can stay for years.
Feeling down for a few days is nothing compared to it.

The human mind cannot stay "up" all the time. That is called being manic and is self-destructive. If all a girl wants is a comedian, then drop her. A stroll through the depths of her soul can barely make the bottom of your shoes damp.

I'm a professional counselor and true depression is a complex and crushing syndrome that is more than just the normal up and down cycles humans experience on a regular basis. True depression can spring from one of four arenas: physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, but eventually impacts all aspects of a person.

At that point you need a team: a medical doctor, a psychologist/psychiatrist, a true friend, and a spiritual advisor (pastor/priest/rabbi) working together to find the actual source of the depression and begin the process of pulling you out. Start with a professional to see if you have true depression or are confusing downtime of a normal emotional cycle as depression. Good luck.

I like to call it "feeling melancholy."

If you say you're "sad," people ask, "What are you sad about?" If you say you're depressed, people immediately say, "Oh, depression is a mental illness; you need psychiatric help."

To me, "melancholy" clarifies that it's just a temporary mood that will likely pass. Kinda like feeling "cheery," "in high spirits," etc. (as opposed to "happy" which either connotes more of a long-term state if you say "I'm happy," or tends to attract questions about what you're feeling happy about if you say "I feel happy").

For me waking up in the morning and crying for a few seconds is depression (it doesn't happen often, but it happended a couple of times in the last month). And a couple of months ago the first thing I though when waking up, instead of "it's late" was..."I want to die".

So I don't think it's just "periodic sadness". I used to go hiking for example, because I like nature and for me it's like a spiritual activity...but since 1 month I lost interest. It will come back, but for now I don't feel like it...
I used to like travelling, I traveled a lot alone in the past...but for now I lost all interest too.

Two advices.

Be grateful with the good stuff that you have in life and grow from there. Never take anything for granted. Depression is not a natural part of life, stress and sadness are. Don't blame your psychology or failure in game but look to yourself and your actions commited in life

I went through some shit last year that I'm not going to get into right now. As a result, I started drinking too much and moping too much. I stopped blogging, and spent my time either sleeping or doing nothing. This is how you get over it.

Step 1: Square away your diet. You are what you eat. If it can't be hunted or gathered, it's not food. Eat chicken, pork, beef, fish, avocado, berries, vegetables, etc. Try and keep about half of what you eat raw. Take a multi-vitamin and supplement with fish oil.
Step 2: Cut back on drinking. I don't drink whiskey much anymore - only red wine.
Step 3: Get sunlight and fresh air. Go camping and get right with nature.
Step 4: Lift weights 3 or 4 times a week. I don't mean bicep curls, I mean squats, bench, pushups, etc. If you can't afford a gym, do P90x. If you can't afford that, get the Convict Conditioning guide.
Step 5: Try taking N-A-C (N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine). It's like $17 on Amazon.

Once your body and health is on point, you'll have a lot more energy and things will fall into place.

Whenever I feel bad, I try to switch my had into "mode" that can get me out of it ASAP.
-Focus only on things, that can improve you (sports or reading book about self-development).
-Don´t listen to music, which could make it worse (no music about feelings)
-Forbid myself drinking alcohol
-Don´t avoid meeting friends, even though you don´t have mood to see them. GO and see them as much as possible
-Go to nature OR go among people (both help)
-Focus on work. You know, that thinking hurts, so try to do some hard work and switch to auto-pilot. Work will be done and bad feelings can fade away
-Think in way, that every bad situation is there just to improve you

Make an appointment with a doctor or a psychologist immediately.

Seriously. No joke. Gop back and read my response.

I have a fellow counselor who puts his depressed clients on tuna fish three times a week. At first I thought he was just being new agey weird, but it appears that diet does play a major role and Omega 3 fatty acids have an intriguing power to combat depression. Now I've been recommending it to my own clients and have had some positive results for those who try it.

Apparently this forum has some supernatural powers...
- 2 weeks ago I was still virgin, I posted thread-56102.html, and that same evening I had my first ONS
- Yesterday I was depressed, I posted this thread...and yesterday evening I got some kisses from a nice French lady in a bar (older than me, but still attractive). She wasn't up for an ONS, but those kisses gave me a boost of confidence that will heal me for a while...

Next time I'm in need of sex I'll post something here to make sure I get something in the evening...

For true depression there is no help for men. In modern society, men who show weakness or pain are shunned, shamed, ridiculed and abused. So called "Mental Health Professionals" are morons who have been deeply indoctrinated in Feminist Theory and will usually do more harm than good.

If you can find true friends, your tribe, you may be able to get some support from them. But such a thing is difficult to find and actively targeted for destruction by feminists and SJWs.

It's tough. I live in isolation. I put on a public persona whenever I go out and I am very, very good at playing those roles. Still I live a life where if I was to drop dead at home, not only would no one care, it would be months before anyone noticed.
